View Full Version : I suck at PvP

So I am in Hellfire Peninsula, doing the Zeplin Parts quest... you know the one, you have to pickup off the ground 30 pieces of the crashed zeplin. That's 30 EACH for 150 total for my team. I'm alliance on a PvE server.
I'm farming along, killing birds and picking up scraps when this horde notices me and starts following me around. Didn't think anything of it at first, as you all know, we get followed all the time. Then he starts yoinking my parts, he's in travel form so he can see what I am going for and get there before me. I let it pass the first few times but after the fifth time it gets annoying.
So I flag my main PvP. He takes the bait.
I command my troops "MELT HIS FACE"... and they just stand there.
"MELT HIS FACE"... still nothing and now my main is dead.
I had keyclones paused.... /sigh.
But my guys are shaman... SELF REZ on the main.
"FROST SHOCK!"
Dead horde.... I go on my way collection around the area.
He rezes and I see him go travel form and start running for it... but he ran into some birds and it's slowing him down some.
"MOUNT UP" the chace is on.
I catch him rather quickly... he's fighting a bird.
"FROST SHOCK"... dead horde.
I'm satisfied but I know a sneak attack is coming so as I am farming the area I keep a watchful eye out.
Well... turns out that the draw distance (with graphics turned down) is closer than a level 70 warrior can charge from. Yep.. he had a level 70 warrior.... flew him in special I guess.
WIPE!
Corpse run.... get back to my bodies and don't see him but figure I'll play it safe and grab a smoke before rezing.
Come back to him standing over my toons with his Druid mock crying for the tradgety that has befallen my group.
Rez all five guys at once...
FROST SHOCK!
Dead horde.... but his body disapears right away... I know I am in for another visit from the Warrior.
CHARGE.... FEAR
RUN AWAY!
That fear was well placed... my shamies must have pissed their pants because they ran and ran and ran... in five differnet directions.
I knew it was over at that point.... so I did my best to get them as close as possible to each other before they died.
Next round he is on his druid again and I didn't aniciate... I know when I am licked... but he goes and attacks me again (we are all still flagged including him). So I kill him knowing the warrior would be back.
Hearthed out with four of them but the warrior got the main.
Rezed, hearthed, waited the five minutes while smoking.
And that is my sad story... I suck at PvP.

The worst parts for me while multiboxing were pvp "firsts". I don't mind screwing up in a dungeon, no one is their to see and I only fraps the good stufff :) But my first time in AV/EotS/AB, my first real PvP fight, definately my first arena all were tough because I knew even a simple screw up (inevitable) would make me look foolish. It did but I got over it and learned from my mistakes.

tremor rotation would have solved your fear problem :P or a pvp trinket jeebus they're like 3k honor for the one that you can get at lvl 19. Roll with those ^^

First, let me start by saying that HB stands for Hermosa Beach. 8o
...and now that's out of the way...
Sounds like you were forced to PvP and maybe not ready for it... Be sure to get the KoS add-on and make sure to add that warrior/druid. You'll get the hang of it.
I remember my first PvP days... After killing a few people at my level, the body disapears and here comes the skull leveled toon. He kills you and logs back on his alt.
In Ganklethorn Vale, I was killing this warlock... well... because he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time... Corpse disapears, and shortly afterwards a skull level hunter shows up and wipes my group. After a couple of wipes, I caught on to this so I'd kill his alt toon and go hide under water, use far sight and wait till he logs back on his alt toon. When he did... I'd go get him again... fun stuff.
Another incident in Ganklethorn Vale...months ago, and I still remember his name... Grimreaper... this shitty hunter kept killing me in booty bay. He would wait by the boat, attacking low level horde and jumping in the water or feign'ing death to get away from the guards. Well, just a few weeks ago, I ran into him again while I was doing my dailies on IQD. Revenge is best served cold. Made him take a res sickness.
aww.. just read that you're on a PvE server ;(

IT Monkey, that was trully an enjoyable read.

Did an AV yesterday. Everyone called a turtle. I said screw it, I'm taking TP myself.
Worked my way around everything. Capped the tower, no issues. Stood on top of the flag (mistake 1), dropped totems, and faced the entrance. A feral druid comes running in. Proceeds to run around me in circles and killing my guys one at a time. *sigh*
Yeah, that was 5v1, and I lost... At even level... /facepalm
So, not learning my lesson, I get back there. Capped the tower. Pushed everyone back against a wall. In runs 10-15 horde for "free kills" more than likely. Cleaned them all out except for the feral druid. Damn druid! He runs out to heal, I chase after him (mistake 2) He starts running around the outside in a circle attacking from different directions. Kills my pally and I bet he had a little party for doing that (his mistake number 1). Picked one of the shaman to start rezing my pally since she's full screen and I don't do PiP swapping. Chaos ensues as he runs back and forth though me hitting me. Pally rezes, stuns the druid, hit my follow macro and give him the business end of 4 shaman decked out in "of the sorcerer" gear after popping EP. I see a *poof* of grey smoke and 1 dead cow on the ground. In roll a squad of priests and warlocks and they made short work of what was left. (mind control FTL)
PVP in a BG is fair. World PVP is never fair. Ask anyone who's make the leap of death from the edge of BEM after being mind controlled by me. ../forum/images/smilies/cool.png If you can't kill them, might as well break their armor!

First, let me start by saying that HB stands for Hermosa Beach. 8o Um... no... HB stands for Huntington Beach... Hermosa Beach is a distant second... We're SURF CITY baby... we get the choice initials. You can have "HermoBe" if you wish to shorten your name. ;)
IT Monkey, that was trully an enjoyable read.
I love the "<spell name>"..... "Dead horde". Thanks... it was fun casting FROST SHOCK on him and watching him die... was even fun dieing... I know I looked like a complete noob to this guy but I laughed my ass off when he fell for the single flagged shaman ploy. (Don't know for a fact that he "fell for it" or if he just decided to have some fun.. but the story is better with him "falling for it".)
tremor rotation would have solved your fear problem :P or a pvp trinket jeebus they're like 3k honor for the one that you can get at lvl 19. Roll with those ^^I have been PvEing this team hard core to get them up in level as fast as possible... consiquently I don't use a lot of totems... I just LB LB LB LB LB and things die. So I don't really have a good totem rotation down and even if I did, doubt I would have had the chance to use it as that warrior charged me before I saw him. It went CHARGE then FEAR and then RUN and DIE.
As far as trinkets go... I dont' look forward to BG and I certainly wasn't going to do it at 19 as the only BG available (as you know) is a 10 v 10... and I would be half the team... that doesn't appeal to me.
I wasn't forced into this PvP situation.. I just took an opportunity to have a bit of fun. And it was fun. I didn't blame the horde for getting his lvl 70 and didn't think of it as unfair since I was hitting his 61 with five guys.

Even if they can get the fear off before you lay your totems, it is still worth spamming the tremor totem button as sometimes one of your guys will resist the fear and be able to pull the others (or some of the others) out of fear early. If you want to do any pvp make your castsequence tremor macro sooner rather than later.

Yesterday a 39 rogue (I was 34 but with level 30 training) got the jump on me and killed my main before I could react.
So here I am mashing random buttons to try and not die. I remember putting down an Earthbind, then down come the Grounding while trying to get PiP swapping to work (sometimes it just doesn't feel like it). Did a few LBs and got Fire Novas down but by this time 2 had died so it wasn't very potent. I did end up killing him but I had one guy left and he resed and killed that one as I was pretty close to Tarren Mill.
Hindsight is 20/20 though. Realizing what you did and what you should have done makes you a better player. ;)

I played all 4 of my shammys the "Budkins of Hellscream" to exalted with av before they hit 70. I turned 70 put on my full suit of s2 and its been alot of fun.I run Bulls so the stomp helps when i get rogs /druids/war .A few tricks i use when you get a few guys on you all around i feather tab wile mashing my chainpain spell rotation macro and spining my guys around in a circle. As you work your way thru tab you have guys casting spells on everyone around you then when you see sombody low you stop tabing and drop them. Its a very good way to get everyone around you all dieing throw in 4 fire ellys and a few stomps some aoe heals and i can lay waste to allot of guys.A sweet spot is the ledge behind stormpike graveyard .Any turtle d game with allot fighting on the road is perfect i run the back way to stormpike drop down on that ledge and place totems .Then i use the same tab feathering keyboard work but i hit my frostshock button too. This kills pretty much anyone that spawns there.Totems save lives mainly yours lol if you don't drop a good totem set your going to die very fast in most bgs .I use the tab button alot so i can spread my spells around.Hitting tab and a good spell rotation macro can lay some serious pain into a crowed stoping on anyone thats low and dropping them.Towers for me are the suk i leave them to others.I find i can kill every npc in ther base very fast this helps win allot kinda evens the race with my ellys i can clean house .Im not a real d fan i hate long games. But when i do d i set up at the choke point at iceblood graveyard helps if you get a healer and a few dps to help ,i setup right in the rubble pile thats burning in the road .I use my same strait for big rush and i blast and spin to keep blasting if they get behind me. with a few guys this is a very nice spot .It only takes a few sec to drop totems if you don't drop them your cutting off a leg lol. Wsg /ab/eots i get to many guys following me or standing around where i am to get the win.I pvped with a shaman to exalted in av long before i ever started boxing .If you suk soloing pvp 3 or 4 more guys won't help much.Well thats my 2 cents hope it helps some horde kill alliance hehe
p.s. get the battle standards asap you can have a 15% hps and 10% spell damage bonus pretty much every fight ,roll in drop totems 2 battle standards and guess what your ready to open a large can of shammy box woopass !
