View Full Version : Things that keep your sanity while multiboxing...

I was jsut curious what people do while they multibox to keep from going nuts while leveling, setting up, playing with new macros/addons etc.

I personally fidn that a guidl guild chat makes multiboxing sooo much easier while doign the quest/level grind and then I really enjoy being online, if the guild chat sucks tho or they r rude or boring or offline its really slow and tedious and I notice EVERY TIME I hafta click in 5 screens... and just how small each screen is and how I cant really read anythign on all my alts....

Another thing I do that helps is download books on tape and listen to a good book while I play.... I amsure this is like most of you putting on music or... watching tv or something but if I got good guildchat or a book on tape im dandy if not well... slow torcher followed by eye gouging and a break for a few hours.... or I go and bg if I am at one of those lovely x9's levels so I can actually enjoy it without getting a "this guy makes the whole team low leveled comments. I do with bg's were playable at all levels, not just when ur lvl x8 or x9. Oh well, I also with BG's had a global que system so we could use em anytime we wanted to help break up the level grind more basically jsut pick us up where que choses us and drop us off there when we r done... maybe a trinket or a special hearth thing?=P

I stopped doing collections quests unless the droprate is 100%. That helped stress-levels a LOT.

LOL wow I already don't do collection quests... well most of em I don't. I just find that the clicking in allt he screens to turn in quests X5 and accept questX5 and to equip all guys X5 then enchant new equip X5 then empty bags to ore/leather to all the different profession users etc. can get tedious at times. Don't get me wrong I enjoy multiboxing but certain aspects can wear on you especially when not near your goals like uh.... lvl 70 for me for first time ever=P I do find farming instances is an awesome break... all the greens etc. make me feel like im actually gonna dig out of the gold hole I always seem to be into with mounts skills etc.

I don't have the mental capacity to actively take part in things like guild chat when I'm boxing. I can't even use one of my many screens to watch a movie - it's just too distracting for me ;(

Even Zolo boosting without that passive healing trinket (I really ought to go and get that some time...) requires sufficient attention that I can't look away for more than two or three minutes at a time!

I do listen to audio books and podcasts on iTunes though, and yes the administrative overhead of a 5 man team is tedious - I have AutoProfit (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/1417/) (links to Curse) to ease the burden of emptying so many backpacks, but it's still a right pain at the beginning or end of each session.

I do all my looting and gatherign on my main but doign all the trades to move that much leather/ore is the main thing to clear space for other stuff as i cant afford decent bags yet!! if i could afford 5x imbued netherweave bags it wouldn't be soo bad. my other guys jsut carry aroudn stuff for there trade skill till I decide to do a huge leveling chunk with em whent hey have some gold saved... I need to push ym engineer I guess to get jumper cables soon as I am running a 4xhunter team and my paly hasn't caught up yet.

To be honest... guidl chat mostly consists of sick jokes and "DING" and some jokes about whomever dinged... I guess thats not that high of a mental copacity really. I thoink my guild had a 3 hour discussion on tea bagging last week...

I watch something from hulu.com on another monitor while I quest, etc. I generally watch something where I don't mind missing a lot of storyline because I'm only half paying attention. Right now thats babylon 5.

My server (emerald dream US Alliance RP PVP) has this non guild affiliated raiding organized group. It's quite cool. In game it is nothing more than a chat channel, but they have a website and they schedule regular raids in KZ ZA SSC Gruul and Mag. On top of that, it's grown in such popularity that it's become a way better "LFG" channel because most of these players are more serious than the mongoloids that use LFG. It's also a great way to remain in a guild, but still go on regular raids with other people who know how to play, rather than PUGging. When i get 5 70s I will be hittin them up for spots :)

I always have iTunes open for watching movies or listening to music / audio books. I really need to get more movies... I've seen Tombstone, 3:10 to Yuma, and especially Pirates of the Caribbean more times than I care to admit. 8|

I hate chat, I hate it with a passion. It is the single most reason I die in the game.
I usually forget to turn the keyclone broadcasting back on and attack something solo, not good if it's an elite.
I can't tell how many times I have 11111111122222222 in the chat line on the main or in all of the alts except for the main.
I wish there was a chat disable/enable button.

I try to limit myself to only using Ventrilo to talk to other guild members.

I try to limit myself to only using Ventrilo to talk to other guild members. This is why i only chat when i'm /oom or taking a 5 minute break in an instance. I've wiped on Omar "the untankable" more than a few times by offering bets on if he's actually drop something I could use instead of just selling it. That Watchkeeper guy has been stingy too but I'm geared up enough now to just tank and spank even if I flub up the pull.

There always lots of swearing when I see four lines of "11112222222222222222222222222222266622222222222222 22222222233333333333333333333333333333333333333333 333333333333333333333333334"

things got so tedious and boring for me i turned one of my monitors in the middle of my set up as a tv -_-. i blame this for me leveling even slower now..

I mainly listen to music when i play, often very soft music, like a solo classical guitarist playing a really nice and soft melody. Before i listened to pretty hard metal but it just stressed me up and ruined my concentration/patience.

I cannot understand how you guys manage to listen to sound-books while playing, since let say you get attacked or something, you'd just have to go back a few mins on the tape because you totally concentratred on the fight.

/g is a huge rescue aswell.

I listen to metal and alternative music mostly, although real angry music is bad for me when i pvp, i smashed the slide tray on my computer desk in frustration one time, then i had to spend 10 minutes playing with my keyboard in my lap until the bg ended.

I'm Korean so I am heavily biased towards k-pop j-pop and the such for music choice.

If I'm not doing anything that requires my full attention, I'll load up some old anime or tv shows like star trek voyager, smallville, heroes, and sometimes deep space nine

Heard a song "the quiet place" around 1yr and a half ago and ever since I haven't looked back :) most other bands/music don't do anything for me nowadays :P

listen to music and be guilded helps allot, having people to chat to who don't auto come and go "wtf, bot, cheat" or the usual whine crap is refreshing, and the music just helps with the boredom and the slow leveling (im only 38 in 5 days played now :s usually i got a 70 by this time lol)

if it wasn't the music, i wouldnt had leveled to 70...
or grinded all the pvp gear
or farmed baron 250 times
in fact, i dunno if i could handle playing alone, when everybody else is offline, without mp3's :)

I was jsut curious what people do while they multibox to keep from going nuts while leveling, setting up, playing with new macros/addons etc.In short... not multibox. Anytime that anything I'm doing in a game becomes tedious or not fun, I stop doing it. This balances the fact that when I discover something that I like to do, I dive in and keep at it. Then if I feel that I'm close to overdoing it, I stop. It keeps me from finding myself in a position where I'm doing something and I don't even know why (ie, playing a game when the game is no longer fun for me to play).

Maybe that's why I am usually so optimistic about these games. Anytime I feel burnout I stop, then play again once it passes. And I avoid any grind that I don't really truly want to do. I just know that there will be people complaining about the achievement grind shortly after WotLK is released, because they drive themselves to complete it even though they don't really want to. Games like this never become negative for me because I don't torture myself for the game's sake.

So, in order to keep from going nuts while multiboxing, I stop multiboxing when I feel I am about to go nuts. :)

I normally listen to On-line radio. I’ve been listing to EVE-Radio for about 2 years. A lot of good DJ’s left recently. So I’ve been looking for new to listen too. It pretty much is just pure suck now.

I find that if i'm questing it isn't too bad. Just straight out grinding sucks so when I grind I do instances. It's not that bad I guess. I really see the new EXP curve. I'm allready 30 on my alt team!

3 things that help me get through the grind, especially since I've been doing ALL collection quests in outlands so far.. (the 5x of the 4 sporebat eyes and 4 strider legs in Zang SUCKED)

1. Ballgame on TV.. if there's a baseball, football, basketball, etc game on, it's much easier to listen to the game as I play. I tend to not focus on how long it's going to take to get each drop I need.
2. Music.. I tend to just throw a massive song playlist on random, and see what comes up. Lately, it's been a crazy mix of 90's (Tool, Helmet, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Snoop Dogg, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Sneaker Pimps, Oasis, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails), 2000's (Disturbed, System of a Down), 80's (Megadeth, Metallica, Gary Numan, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, The Cure, Tears For Fears, Loverboy), 70's (Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith), and 60's (Rolling Stones, Beatles).
3. DVDs. I'll throw a movie in that I know well enough to not need to watch - just hearing it gives me the visualization of what's happening in the movie, so I can play the game and "watch" the movie in my head.

I unmapped the "enter" and "/" keys on my clones and instead made "\" allow me to start typeing. On my main "\" does nothing.

So when I want to do a command I do:
\/script LeaveParty()

When I want to chat I do:
/g hello guild!

This really really helps me talk only from my main and not accidentally get into talk mode on clones.

A lot of good DJ’s left recently.
That statement SUCKS. That's how I feel about my favorite station in Orlando - 101.1.

In April, they booted my two favorite DJ's in the morning - a hilarious show called the Fiasco with Pat Lynch and Taco Bob (and Launa, but that useless slut did nothing but talk about how many of the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team she slept with, thereby living up to her 'useless slut' moniker). I had listened to them the whole 6 years I've been living here, and the morning all-talk syndicated-out-of-Dallas redneck garbage called the Lex & Terry show that took the Fiasco's place sucks monkey balls. So now my morning drive to work is spent listening to classic rock on 96.5 with Dixon & Willoughby.. which is mainly decent music and boring as hell DJs.

A month ago, my afternoon drive became ruined when 101.1 disbanded the Buckethead Show with Buckethead, Ethan, and Lauren - all 3 fantastic and hilarious people who play good music. Now they've got Crash & LT, and although the taste in music is pretty much the same and they're cool people, I'm not laughing my ass off on the way home from work anymore.

The *only* redeeming thing 101.1 has done recently, is to pick up Mel Taylor from a rival rock station 4-5 months ago. She's cool and has a sexy voice, so that's a plus.

However, it's a travesty that 101.1 has kept the Shot Doctor on for sports news spots a couple times a day for about 10 minutes a piece. He's got not only one of the worst radio voices, but *the* worst radio delivery I've ever heard (It rivals Jim Rome's atrocious way of speaking 3 words at a time, turning every full sentence into 5 pauses between words). His predictions are equally as bad, terribly biased, and predictable.. "The New York Yankees will win the World Series this year." Yeah, you've said that how many years in a row now? I loved his comments with Billy Donovan possibly coaching the Magic last year - he predicted *every* single day the incorrect outcome for about 2 weeks. This guy is useless, and I can't believe he makes a living with sports reporting considering how bad he is at it.

There are a couple other guys now on 101.1 that make me want to dig my eardrums out with a spork. One sounds like the monotone comedian Steven Wright, only he's not funny at all. The other sounds like a nervous nerd talking to himself like he's about to ask the prom queen on a date.. tip to 101.1 management.. don't use people with bad voices, bad delivery, or bad self-confidence on the air. Hell, it makes me want to start up a new station with all the fantastic talent 101.1 has let go in the last 6 months.

which version of Cloud Connected do you prefer? the Reroute to Remain or Trigger-EP version :)

I love the intro to Colony :) 50seconds of perfection ^^

It's weird tho. To begin with I only liked a few of their songs, but I've been slowly moving all the way back and forth through their songs and because their style has changed so much there is always something amazing to listen too :)

Okay, okay, I was trying to keep the list somewhat short. I also frequently listen to Judas Priest, Motorhead, Diamond Head, Sex Pistols, Def Leppard, and Coldplay (more of listening to that from my girlfriend in the background.. :) )
..and Rush for my Canadian rock fix.. because Rush easily beats out Loverboy for Canadian rock. :)
