View Full Version : Multiboxer vs Multiboxer in Battlegrounds

As more people are starting to multibox, I frequently run into other boxers of different factions in the battlegrounds. Whenever I encounter another boxer, I always come here afterwards to see if they are part of this community and if they posted something about that BG...and nobody has yet.

The reason I bring this up is because I'm curious to see what everone else does when the come across another multiboxer in the BG's. Do you attack them? Avoid them? /hug them?

Last night, I came across a 5x shammy team (Alliance - Stormstrike 1am-3am server time) in AV who was leading the honorable kills. Well, I obviously can't let AV go on without taking #1 in HK's, so I went on offense. This other boxer (can't remember their name) was defending a graveyard and was the last one standing. I can't say that I personally took them out because they were zerged by the time I got there, however I froze up for a second when I did see them. Not sure if it was because I came across someone that can possibly take me out as fast as I take everyone else out or if it was because I didn't want to engage another boxer.

Other times, people on my realm whisper me saying "4x druid or 5x shaman" is located at X. I generally reply "sorry, I don't go after other boxers". Does everyone feel this way? Is there really an unofficial stance on this?

Well i've come across my first Multiboxing opponent the other day. 4 Draeni shaman (areyoudeadyet) is along the lines of the team names. I gotta admit i was stunned for a second when i watched one of my clones go down from the "Iwinbutton", Pulled back regrouped and rezed. Usually i'd leave another boxer alone i think but he started it and i finished it. I'd love to go at it again i really enjoyed seeing another boxer specially to fight against was fun.

(btw i run 4 ele shaman 1 troll 3 orc)

It was a shock the 1st time my guys got a chain lightning in the face though, I must admit :D

I was also lucky enough that they were on the forums and we've chatted quite a bit since, /wave cepheus. I've sort of gone casual on my shammy team now, but I'm looking forward to meeting him in BGs again (he pwned me 1st time, but we got revenge 2nd) :D

so far I have come across 3 boxers.

First one I came up on i killed asap, it was world pvp and he was by MY yeti cave.

Second one was in world pvp as well. We smiled at each other and danced. I really enjoyed that.

Third was in AV. All 70s and my 63s constantly rolled them, over and over.

All and all when i see them I freeze up as well. It's a different pvp encounter when dealing with one of your own.

I am on the reckoning battlegroup and noticed that I now have at least 1/3 of the horde following me all over the map while we steam roll the ally.

It looks like a great white shark eating and those little fish following the shark feeding off the scraps.

Alliance - Stormstrike 1am-3am server time

60-70 bracket?

Was it by chance the Headspins? They used to BG alot but I haven't seen them online recently. They're on my server, Archimonde.

These are the boxers I've run into on the 70 bg's, Stormstrike:

Mudd - 5x locks, Scillia, horde
Fi/Fye/Fo/Fum - 4x shaman, Haomarush, horde
Suvega - 4x mage, 1x priest, Archimonde, alliance
Vyndree - 5x shaman, Archimonde, alliance
Headspina/b/c/d/e/ - 5x shaman, Archimonde, alliance

There are a few others in lower brackets but those are the ones I know of that BG.

I think i wouldn't open on an other multiboxer, throw 4 groundings /hug and then continue depending on how the other boxer reacts. Only few of us in general, so let's love each other :P

I have only run into a couple groups that i could tell for sure were 'boxing, but we generally just go to town and see who comes out alive - no hesitation at all :D

have yet to run into another MB team in 5v5s yet, that would probably throw me off a bit the first time.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but can grounding absorb chain lightning since it does multiple damage? I wouldn't try to duke it out shammy versus shammy, I am not that good at twitch PVP. But they can eat 5 hunters pets while I am at 41 yards (or 50+ if they try to come at me).

That was them! Only saw them at a GY, I doubt he/she even saw me.

I love AV. I force the turtle and farm HK's. 603 bonus honor + 250ish HK's per AV rocks.

Only the initial hit, but it will "chain" off from the totem to 2 more jumps [reduced damage](and not to other grounding totems).

My CL can crit up to 2600ish, which means 1300 (50%) and 650 (50%) damage will not get "grounded".

I agree!

I sit at our base and DESTROY them as they come up. I tell the horde to just slow them and soak up the honor. If its really nice I will flank the next GY up and take it.

They never see it coming.

That being said, I have been MC'ed when I didn't realize someone was wanding my grounding totems. Never again.

Headspin is a beast -- he leveled superfast (used his pally to boost everyone) and every time I saw him online he was in a BG farming honor. I don't know how he does it. :P

He xfered into Archimonde on his main and rolled his shammies on Archimonde shortly after.

And this is why you're a BG nub. You're not just wasting your time, but everyone's time. You make way more honor per hour losing than forcing a turtle.

I've got 4 guys exalted with AV, no multiboxing... AV done right is ~500 honor every 12-15 minutes, period. Even if you're on the losing side, you should make no less than 1K honor every hour.

If you wanna just jerk off for awhile, go raid Barrens/Astranaar/Ashenvale, you'll about as much honor per hour farming PvE nubs. Please get the hell out of AV.

BG nub, huh? Why come off so hostile?

I've got 7 guys exalted w/ AV... multiboxing and not, but not quite sure what that is supposed to prove or why you bring it up...it's not hard to do. In fact, the longer you sit in there, the faster you get exalted.

AV done right is ~500 honor every 12-15 minutes...
Oh, you mean premade? Dude, I'm only playing 3 characters out of the 40. Everyone else is going to do what they want. Some go fishing, some afk in towers...etc...

What I'm saying is that I can force a turtle and get ~800 honor every 15-20 minutes (I'll get some screenshots for you), while the opposing faction gets 0-60 honor...AND I have lots of fun doing it.

When I force the turtle, the opposing faction gets 0 honor.

Vyndree

When I force the turtle, the opposing faction gets 0 honor.

Be careful with this.

My bg (stormstrike) did this very heavily by turtling IBGY and forcing alliance to defend while they reached out towers first. As long as they took just one tower, they won with full honor -- we alliance got none. Until they made the changes to push the horde starting area to an equivalent distance, horde had a near 100% win rate, with alliance getting 0 honor each game.

You know what happened?

Alliance quit queueing into a BG that they got no benefit out of. 1 hour games for 0 honor is not very attractive.

So then horde starting getting their max honor that they gloated about.... every 2-3 hour queue. Neither faction "won", in the end. Horde didn't get to play enough games to make the max bonus honor worth it, and alliance didn't play any AV games at all. If you needed AV marks for gear, half the people afk'ed in the cave because it was just faster to let the horde kill Vann since you'd get 0 honor and 1 mark regardless.

Be careful what you wish for.

HKs are a good source of honor these days. A turtle played right will provide some pretty high honor. I'd think a addon that show this would end this argument.

As we have discussed before, one battleground kill at level 70 is worth 20.9 honor. In the soon-to-be-history honor calculation system, you earn 10% less honor for each subsequent kill of the same player. After a mere 10 kills, the honor count drops to 0.

Patch 2.4 is setting out to change all of this, banishing diminishing returns. This means that at level 70, each kill will be worth 20.9 honor regardless of its novelty. There will be one new restriction; after 50 deaths, a player will no longer be worth honor.

What does all of this mean for your honor gains in each system?

Calculating potential honor in the old system dictates that each subsequent kill's honor drops by 10% of the initial 20.9 honor, or 2.09 honor less per kill. This would net the following:

* 20.9 (1st) + 18.81 (2nd) + 16.72 (3rd) + 14.63 (4th) + 12.54 (5th) + 10.45 (6th) + 8.36 (7th) + 6.27 (8th) + 4.18 (9th) + 2.09 (10) + 0 (all kills of Player A hereafter)
* In total, at level 70 fighting another level 70, you could earn up to 114.95 honor per opponent.

The potential honor gains as of patch 2.4 is calculated as follows, assuming that no other changes are made before the patch drops:

* (20.9) * (50) + 0 (all kills of Player A hereafter)
* This means that theoretically, at in a level 70 battleground, you could earn up to 1045 honor per opponent.

Although it is unlikely you will ever manage to kill every opposing player 50 times, it is inevitable that you will kill most more than once, at which point, you already are earning more honor than you would have otherwise.

For each kill after the first, you are earning 2.09 multiplied by 1-10 more than you would otherwise for that kill. Up to 40 kills of that same player will earn you 100% more honor!

There is something to be said about "fun" as well -- Alliance could completely roll horde in one of the 3 other battlegrounds and get kill honor PLUS bonus honor... or they can suffer morale-degrading losses for 0 bonus honor and 1 hour games for a single AV token (keep in mind -- tokens can now be turned in for honor as well).

Which is more efficient?

Bonus honor matters, because you can get kill honor in ANY battleground. Therefore, the most efficient battleground is one where you can get both kill honor and bonus honor, and have fun doing it.

I generally reply "sorry, I don't go after other boxers". Does everyone feel this way? Is there really an unofficial stance on this?
I find that a bit of an odd stance to be honest :)

Everybody is fair game in BG, and I relish going after another boxer to genuinely test my skills (such as they are!) against theirs.

I'd feel simply challenged meeting another boxer. I love challenge :D...
I mean, you as a single person controlling more than one char simply are stronger than one person alone. Not saying better than multiple persons controlling one toon each. But you've got the advantage, that you are always with multiple chars on the road. Seeing that - It's a sweet challenge to meet someone on equal terms :D

If I see another multiboxer in a BG and they see me too... well I didn't kill em fast enough. I'll feel bad afterwards... till I see em again Muahahahaha I don't multibox for equal footing I multibox to own and fast and I think deep down everyone else does at least a bit too. It is more challenging because of the setup, multitasking, theorycrafting gearing,fundingX5 etc. but we do ALL THAT to "win" not to be another guy getting turtled outsid ethe graveyard.... SOOO!!! that goes to fighting other mboxers too ide sy use what youknow about em... there is a main! If you figure out who it is! Kill it first!!! NO MACRO is fast enough to make losing a main completely unimportant. After that jsut tap off one more at a time and if you got the dps you should and they arn't like... 5x paly's bubbling and healing....(I would laugh till I died if I saw this btw) YOU WIN! YAY! oh btw... if a mboxer kills me in the manner I just described, well.... I wont like it but... ehhthat just means that guy needs some 5 way spankins=P... SOO who listens to books on tape while the level there mboxer so they don't go nuts doing questsX5?

Otlecs

NO MACRO is fast enough to make losing a main completely unimportant
You're quite wrong. I just have to PiP the "next in command" to my main window and carry on playing when my main dies. It takes a very small fraction of a second, and I'm usually already there once I realise my main's going down.

But, yes, that'll definitely hurt people who have a REALLY BAD SETUP and this is the wrong thread for me to get into details on that :)

i8screaminmoose
07-25-2008, 06:31 AM
I guess it depends alot on your setup... I doubt 90 % of the people here have a truly perfect setup so they can switch that well without it affecting anything. But, I guess when I meet come mboxers in a bg ill find out lol... maybe ill get stomped... over and over and over and over.... would be a interesting change

out of curiosity how do your all shaman team stack up against the priest/mages and warlock combos? (5 locks? WTB a priest?).

Why have that attitude - Everyone else should stop trying to have fun because you want to farm honour. My response to people who seem to think they should dictate how I spend my time playing - "You can tell me what to do when you pay for all my accounts"

It certainly doesn't make them a nub because they want to have fun (which is why you play a game - isn't it ?) If you've turned battlegrounds in to your honour farming payless job that's your problem. It certainly doesn't mean that everyone else in there is doing the same.

I used to dislike BG's - mainly because of the chat, where you have 2 types of people, those that are screaming about "let's lose, it's quicker honour", or those that are protesting that everyone else in the BG are crap and can't play wow (while that player must be godly and invincible surely).

I started enjoying battlegrounds more when I ignored the chat - realised I pay for my accounts not any of the muppets in chat, and that I can therefore do whatever the heck I want (so long as it is within the TOS).

I'm in there to fight. I'm in there to do whatever I can to get the win or to die trying. I'm in there to try and have fun. I'm in there to make a difference.

And since they introduced resources you honour farmers can just trudge on to the next battleground quick enough.

I've only seen 1 boxer on my side (alliance) in Vindication BG (AV). I've probably had 20 tells of people who box but aren't on their boxing acct. I've seen a horde boxer on Gorefiend though - he had a PvE setup with like a warrior, mage, lock, priest etc... Felt like two titans just hammering each other. First round, I got the jump and dropped him with only one of mine down. Next time he did better- we both ended up dieing. Third time, he got me by popping elementals. Fourth- we nuked each other to bits.... and when the dust settled i had one shaman at 25%. It was EPIC. One of my funnest BG's. Hey Zakula!

I'm in battlegroup Vindication as well, playing on Lightning's Blade (Ally). I've heard about a 5-boxing-mageteam once in AV, must've been you. They complained those mages were wrecking up our defense. Unfortunately, it was too late when I noticed that: I turned around immediately to start the hunt (I was wrecking up the horde-defense at that time :P), but the game ended before I could get to you.

You were also the first multiboxer I came across on my multibox-team in arena's (yesterday). Sorry for the spanking there, that was the fastest game I'd ever seen. (I guess you can't do much against that type of aoe as a shammy, then again... you of all people know that, boxing with 5 mages hehe).

If you want, hop on IRC and we can plan some AV's against eachother (ventrilo-sync-queueing), should be fun :D

Im big into twinking and have a 60 GM rogue. Theres 2-3 groups of 60 shammys in this bracket. So i generally give them hell. I always kill the main then vanish. If they know im in the area, ill just mess with them. Chain sapping, and blinding the clones. They never move. I can keep them tied up for about 5 mins. Cracks me up cause i multibox myself.

So far in Shadowburn I've gone up against Icetech once in AV and another shammy set in EoTS once (I was so un-geared at that time, lol). I watched another boxer in AV when my son was playing on his rogue one Saturday morning. So on horde side I've seen 3, on Alliance side there's me, the Glo's (came up against them in arena one night when I had 2 shammies and family in) and against a 5 female dwarf hunter team. Was on 4 of my shammies and my healer and I had a great laugh when 5 ravagers came running out of the starting area at us.

In BG's I've gone after the boxers because it would have given my side more of a chance if I tied up the other boxer with my team, win or lose.

Other times, people on my realm whisper me saying "4x druid or 5x shaman" is located at X. I generally reply "sorry, I don't go after other boxers". Does everyone feel this way? Is there really an unofficial stance on this?

Dude! If I see another boxxer in AV, he's the FIRST person I go for with all guns blazing. Unless I'm outnumbered such as he has most of the opposing battleground with him, he will go down. So far I've not been killed by another multi-boxer in AV by themselves. I've seen shaman multi-boxxers, shaman/paladin combos and some mages occassionally in the Nightfall battlegroup. I usually play defense at Galv, then recap towers, then recall to clear out those at RH.

The thing is, I'm not your average multi-boxxer that has shaman or mages. I have one of each class on my main realm. However, I have started boxxing a lot of shaman (more than 5 lets say) on a PvP realm. But they have a long ways to go before I get them into PvP battles.

The best I've done at Galv is 35 kills by myself. Of course there wasn't any boxxers there that I knew about. I wished I'd taken a video of it, but for some reason, the Fraps videos don't get displayed on youtube any more for me. They work on my system, but not on youtube. There are sometimes I get wiped out with only a few players against me at Galv like 15 to 20. But most of the time, they get wiped with my 9 boxxed characters.

My view is that if you're avoiding attacking someone because of some outside relationship (like this board) then you are crossteaming.

I play 4 60 shammys on Stonemaul, but i spend alot of time playing allaince. I got 5 hunters over on Terenas 35 ish and 3 mages with this recruit a friend thing.

The IQ must be pretty low when they dont transform into ghostwolfs...
