In mid June, one of our members contacted me about keyclone. He had been using it for a few months at work (lucky guy) and was loving it. Turns out, he works @ NVidia and multi-boxes to test their boards. We got to chatting and eventually spoke on the phone. I pointed out the screenshots section and vyndrees post... and he was a bit blown away. He showed those and other screenies to people within the company, and being a bunch of hardware geeks, they loved it. It was then he mentioned NVISION which is a big visual computing event with a huge LAN party.

Here are some of the event details:

Where: downtown San Jose, ca
When: Mon August 25th - Wed August 27th
Cost: LAN BYOC event (link: http://www.amireg.com/nvision08/intro.html ) $30-65
What: NVISION
- BYOC
- Case Mod Contest
- Official sponsored game tournaments for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes
- Unsponsored game tournaments
- Guiness World Record attempt for non stop gaming
- Raffles and contests four hundreds of thousands worth of hardware and prizes
- Huge expo hall with vendors from game devlopers to hardware vendors
- ESWC world championships
- 3D Theatre
- Video Games Live Performance
- etc etc etc

You guys really should check out the site to see everything that is going on. Most questions you have about the event can be answered by looking at the FAQ on the enthusiast's page.

I mentioned how it would be great fun for multi-boxers and he agreed. He got me in touch with Michael, their gaming community manager... and after a bit of back and forth, Michael said he would reserve a section of seating for us so we could play in the same area. The section is on the outer edge of the LAN seating so that we can show off our set-ups not only to the gamers but to anyone attending the event. In order to save this section, he needs to know how many people are definitely interested. (he doesn't want to reserve a space for 20 people and only 5 show up). To be able to keep this section reserved for us we would need to get some solid information back to them by next week.

So what do you think?

saying yes means that we can count on you to sign up as soon as we give the go ahead
Please only say yes if you're positive that you are going to go.

(and yes.. i've already booked my tickets... i wonder if we can get Ellay to show up :D)

I pointed out the screenshots section and vyndrees post...

I foresee an issue transporting said multiboxing rig...

...that being said, Suvega would like me to mention that we both use Nvidia products pretty exclusively... *hint hint, nudge nudge* ;)

Tempting.... but it sounds awfully expensive for food and hotel =/

Though I only live an hour away >.>

And I have to find a computer case for my computer... i doubt I can drag my pile of crap and stick it on the table like some rat's nest of convoluted computer parts

Really tempting...I just moved down to SF for a job and it'd only be ~40 minutes away...hmmmm

Wonder if we can get Xzin to show up? :)

That's awesome, NVIDIA employees think multiboxing rocks. One more poke in the anti-crowd's eye. :)

*sigh* You need to add an option for "Wish I could go". :S

Sounds fun though! (plus I don't want anyone to see the crappy computers I play on) :P

I would totally try to set the world record if I didn't live thousands of miles away. It's like a dance marathon, but fun.

I would love to be able to attend and support this event since I've used NVIDIA products for several years now, but I will not be able to due to work-travel. I hope the event has a great turn-out, though. VIVA NVIDIA!!

Ide love to go too bud lawl they are looking for olsk00l boxers I imagine not keyclone boxers.... but! it would be awesome to see and see reactions! Nvidia's interest kind of suprises me. I figured they would have other test gear other then keyclone although, in its simplicity keyclone could be used for many many other applications then just multiboxing=/ I betcha that made... Rob"Keyclone" all giddy inside when he heard they were testing there video cards with it=P

I just cant justify dropping a thousand bucks to go up there for a weekend :(

Or do we just need to register for the igames?

I live about 4 hours from San Jose, but I go up to San Fransisco on a monthly basis so its not that big of a deal to me, however the whole thousand bucks thing kinda stinks at this time :|

welll.......... in that case.... /grin

I am actually moving on the 8thof august. It'll give me a few weeks to settle in before i rip my rig apart for transport, but i have been planning a new set up anyway.. I think this might be a good time to use the old rig one last time before i pull it apart to set up a new one.

30 - 65 dollars is very affordable, however anyone know anything about the areas hotels or a nice place to sleep during the night? As much as i love gaming, I love sleep as well :P

If anyone could see if there are any hotels in the area doing some sort of a deal for attendees, that would be great. :D

My 5-boxing rig = 1 Dell XPS M1730. Very mobile. XD

The 6 hour drive is one thing, but I didn't build a LAN party rig. It's big, heavy (75lbs) and noisy as hell.

But who needs a hotel? It's only three days

Crayonbox

6 hours? San diego ? :P

I am a bit OCD and a clean freak. I would go crazy if i couldn't take daily showers at least.

noobs, sleep is for the dead.. haha! J/k... Well, I wish I could go as well, but one: I doubt I'll get those three days off, and two: my rig is not very mobile.. my monitor stands are directly mounted to my desk, so that'd be an issue...

nVidia!! Wootz! Using those products as well :D:D

hmph... i thought there would be more interest in getting together

There is, it's just the problem of transporting rigs. Potentially LARGE rigs. From across the country or even farther in the case of intl folks. Now if I was running with a bunch of shuttle PCs or a software setup instead of a hardware rig, then I might put more serious consideration into it. Or if it were closer.

I also have a problem putting said rigs unattended in a room full of strangers. I enjoy my sleep and I don't think I would be able to get any knowing that people are potentially messing with my precious stuff.

That being said, I am definitely headed to Blizzcon -- being seperated from my rig will be hard, but I'm bringing a laptop and I'll be locking my house up tight while I'm in Anaheim.
