View Full Version : Keyclone hangs up while loading a keymap

I have tried both Keyclone 1.7b and 1.7c. I did succeed in adding the WoW games to the keyclone and creating a simple keymap. However, when I right-click the game name and choose to load this keymap to the WoW game, the Keyclone just hangs up. The hourglass icon indicates the program is doing something, but it never gets it done. First the mouse starts stuttering, then it turns to the hourglass, and some parts of the program window also turn white (different parts / amounts depending on the keymap I try to load). My own keymap was only ten eleven keys with ctrl-# and the second one I tried was a friend's totally functional keymap - he uses it in his boxing.

I use only one computer, and the WoW games run fine. I have disabled all other addons from my toon but bartender3 and an aggro indicator. The computer itself is an Intel Dual Core E6600 with a nVidia 8800GTS card, so there should be no trouble there.

Can anyone help?

Comp seems fine, are you running XP or Vista? You might want to give Robert (the creator of Keyclone) a call at {EDIT by Rin: go here: http://solidice.com/contactus.html }. He's really helpful and will help you get going.

It's XP. Nobody yet has given me a good answer to the question why exactly I should upgrade to Vista.

I'll try giving him a call, Rin, as soon as his sun gets up. Thank god for IP telephones - long distance calls with a cell phone aren't good for my wallet!

Edit: Is Keyclone only working in windowed mode, by the way? I can't add a Game that is in full screen mode, and the Games added in windowed mode disappear if I chance the video options to full screen. I thought a friend of mine was doing this full screen at least one of his computers, but he has an older version of Keyclone.

might want to edit that number out unless you have his permission to publically post his contact number ^_^

i use keymapping (and other features) and it works perfectly for me in windowed and full screen, in WoW, SB, Vanguard and DAoC.. XP Pro, SP2

The number is not that secret; it's on http://solidice.com/contactus.html as well - though as a picture. I am not sure what are the chances of evil spiders getting it from here, but caution is of course never a bad idea.

That full screen thing is odd, though. I can't really figure out what exactly my Keyclone could be non-compliant with..

well, he may not care.. if it were me id be more than a little bit irritated at people handing my phone number around on the internet. especially on growing forums like this one.. receiving dozens of calls from random tards at 4am asking questions like "can i try it for free, or come to your house and test it" and the like =P

remember the Serenity Now incident? they had to close their boards for weeks because of millions of hits flooding their server. people are nuts when it comes to gaming.. you never know.

hi guys, sorry about the delayed response.

re: adding full screen keyclones
you can set keyclone to auto-add "World of Warcraft" windows and it will automagically find any wow app (be careful to not have your browser, windows explorer, or anything other window with that string in the title.. as it will get added as well)

you could also start in windowed mode then switch to full screen once you are up... or you could run windowed, and just full screen and auto-hide the taskbar.

re: problems w/ keymaps
hmm... sounds odd. a call would make the debug go quicker (and i'll give you a quick keyclone 101 just in case :) )

as to when... best times are between 7pm - 12am EST Mon-Sun... excepting for fridays & saturdays out occasionally... or football games... at which point i just won't answer.

re: posting number
yea, i changed the number to image based to avoid the simple spider crawl. same with email addresses. (spammers need to die)

i appreciate you guys watching out for me... thanks a lot.

Does not work. The "add automatically" is ticked per default, both of my WoWs have same header, nothing gets added automatically. I can't add a full screen one manually. Windowed ones can be added, but when changing to full screen the keyclone loses them.

Okay.. A bit of googling makes me believe that EST is UTC-5 which also is the time in Clearwater, Florida (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=804) .. (It's easier to check a web clock than calculate times back and forth - yeah, I am lazy.) So I try to give you a call tonight if I manage to stay up late enough.

If I got something wrong with the time zones, feel free to mock me.
