As you seen in my numerous other threads I am currently enjoying 5x shaman leveling.
I do have a 70 paladin in decent t4/5 gear (both for tanking and healing) on my main account (1 of the above 5).
Now, my goal was to get a few heroics ran before Lich King is out - So I'm debating swapping in the pally and boost - And I'm looking for opinions on this. Would it be significantly faster?
So for PvE - How does the 1 pal + 4 sham combo compare to the 5 sham combo (dailies and instances).
And same question for PvP.
Trying to make up my mind here, would be nice to have the option to go 5x shaman at 70 - But getting impatient with the leveling. I'm semi leaning towards that it would be more fun to do the bosting for the 4 shamans first, then for the last shaman once they are 70 - Think that would net me 5x 70 faster?
Thanks for the input!

If the pally is a tank then PvP the pally will just be sitting there almost doing nothing. If it is a healer then it will be healing lol. If you want to do PvP i say go with the 5 shams.
In PvE you can do all heroics with 5 shams or 4 shams and a pally tank. 5 Shams there is a lot of kitting that you have to do. With a pally you don't have to kite.

How strong are 4 shaman in PVP compared to 5?
Also, any ideas if boosting x2 will be quicker than leveling x1? :P

I only have 4 accounts, and I ran my prot pally with 3 shamans (1 resto) and it does the job for my needs. I often get a mage to tag along for my taxi and food needs. :) But i have guildies welcome to join me.
Lately, I'm trying to get a 4th shaman--so I can do arenas. I tried Ret Pally and Shockading for arena with 3 shamans and they are ok. So far, I'm averaging 2-8 but I'm still working on getting elemental gear for the resto.
I can do heroics fine, but that's because my tank is also the MT for my guild and we run KZ maybe 1 every 3 weeks. Did ZA once to kill the bear boss though.
I started working towards badge gear and its good for tanking pieces.
That said, my tank+2 ele+resto is capable to do heroic with 1 other.
In BGs, I grinded well as Prot + 3 shamans. Sure I sit there most of the time, throwing Avenging Shield and Stuns, and consecrate, but it's the best spot to put on BoP and run Devotion / Consentration Aura.
I had some success with Shockadin build taking Imp Sanctity aura for 2% more damage for the group. But despite spending 75k honor in gear, I did not have all the gear I want to make it worth while, so I stay at prot until I get more gear to swap into.
I think with a prot pally + 4 shamans, you can clear heroics. I usually do heroic when the daily heroic is the one I can clear: Mech, UB, SP, Ramparts. I haven't tried others. Not much time to do all: money from daily, badge runs, honor grind, token grind.

Thanks for the input -- any thought as to how much faster boosting would be compared to 5 man leveling (using quests & instance mix)?
My options for boosting is 4 sham+
either a decently geared prot pally
or a poorly geared frost mage (both 70 of course).
I am a bit worried that at 31 I have passed the levels where boosting really out shines 'normal' leveling.
I am just Curious, if there is a list of the MINIMIUM LVL for entering instances. For example, lvl 20 is the Minimium lvl for all the Scartlet Monestary Instances. What about Deadmines? And all the other instances?

I totally dig the pali + 4 ele sham thing for Heroics. I haven't had to respec one resto yet, but haven't cleared all heroics either (not cleared: MgT, Arc, CRypts, SL).
For PvP I just grabbed the healing set for the paladin and even without respeccing from a full Prot build I can do pretty well spamming flash heals on whichever shaman is the burndown target... I just setup actionbar 1 as my "tank" bar, and actionbar 2 as my "healer" bar for the paladin and that's worked out well with the gear swap.

so, any input on the time when comparing:
4 shammies boosted with pally or mage + 1 shammy boosted with 4 shammies
vs
leveling 5 shammies from 31

I have the exact same dilema. I have a decently geared lvl 70 prot pally and I think a lot about using him to run my shaman team through instances. I love the idea of my 5x shaman group but leveling is sorta painful so far (only started a few days ago and im only lvl 14).
5 Shaman is definitely worth it, with both regards to PVE and PVP...

I would suggest running them as 5 shammies until you ding 35. Then do the Zolo trick in ST. That can get you to 58 insanely fast. Then decide whether you want pal+4 shaman and just plow Outland instances to 70. At that point, you could try the zolo trick with a 70 shaman to boost the last shaman. Or you could pay for 2 account transfers, one to move a shaman off of the pally acct. Boost him, then xfer back once he is 58. That gets you through a lot of boring levels, and right into the newer content. I wound run email as 5 shaman through Outland to 70, and sub in the pally for heroics or whenever else he fits in.

I had 5 accounts, I would keep 1 prot pally + 4 shamans.
I can do heroics, BGs, and for arena, I would run 4 Shamans + another player healer.

Well, you don't have to transfer the same character, you could transfer shamanA to accountB, then move shamanB to accountA. One transfer per toon. Provided you do all the transfers right when you ding 58 on 4 toons, do the swap then, boost shamanA to 58 then xfer shamanB. Then you have 5 58 shaman ready for outland questing. I am running 4 58s with my 70 pally, and beause my pally has already done the quests, and gotten the flightpaths, it's a bit more confusing. It is nice though to have the crusader aura for mounts. Makes a big difference in travel time.
