Right now my gear is mostly blues/few pvp pieces.. I'm debating if I
should pick tailoring and blacksmithing. With the expension
nearing by is it worth it? How long does it take to level it up (for my
groups it'd be x4 for tailoring and x5 for blacksmithing
pally/shammies)? I think for tailoring you can get the patterns
from the vendor.. what about bs? Do you need to run raids to get them?

If you want to pvp you can gear just about anything but tanks, otherwise, professions have some great pieces/items but in the end they probably won't make or break you.

I'm doing mostly pve ... pvp once in a blue moon. Guess it's time
to farm some cloth hehe.. should be ok as I'm leveling another clothie
group in their 30s so I'll use them for that. I read somewhere
that it takes 2k gold to level up tailoring if you end up buying stuff
from AH.. 2k x4 hmm.. guess it's time to start doing those dailies
daily

tailoring is easy... if you don't want to spend 2k you can farm the cloth so easy. RFC has a ton of linen, SFC is a good amount of wool, SM cath omg silk x 4 like every drop, ZF is a good amount of mage, and Scholo is almost like cath but for rune. For netherweave you can probably get a stack for 2.5g now or maybe less. Doing the sun dailies will get you a nice amount of nether.

Easy cloth to farm
Linen
Silk
Rune

If Wrath ends up like BC then some of the best items will be BOP and crafted. At least for a while. And especially considering the ease of getting them. Also, consider that once the expansion hits it will become more expensive to level a crafting skill. Supply and demand, the new recipes will motivate many people to level a new trade, increasing demand, and the new level cap and class will halt a lot alt progression levels 1-55, drastically decreasing supply.

4x tailor = HUGE profits. Despite the good BOE gear you can/will be able to make, selling the tailoring cloths will always be a huge money maker. I did this on my 5man team and is well worth it. 92hour cooldown x 4.

4xBS = all I can say is ouch. I remember leveling up BS for my tanking warrior, vowed never to do it again. Good luck if you do. I personally do not see the benefit.

I have to do some more research in terms of what would be better
armour/weapon but for now I think I'll try it for my pally only.

I just checked wowhead and in my opinion, you get one good item that is BoP, boots. But then again, I am going to do BS as well, mostly for rune of warding and ward of shielding.

As for farming cloth, I wouldn't bother, you're time is better spent doing dailies and buying the stuff in my opinion. Assuming you are correct about 2kg to level tailoring, if you can get a full daily run in, you will have that in 2 days time.

Why are yeh level 5X blacksmithing? farming thorium is a royal pain did that for engineerings.

I might do one char blacksmithing and that's my pali for the Greater Ward of Shielding and Greater Rune of Warding.

I can see doing 4 tailoring for the cloth cool downs

I've gone:

Tailor / Enchanter
Skinner / Leatherworker
Herbalist / Alchemist
Miner / Jewelcrafter
Engineer / Blacksmith

I havent actually leveled my 5ths professions yet. Tailoring has been good and useful, and Enchanting is a must for any multiboxer I think. Skinning, Herbalism and Mining are also gimmes I reckon since they are so easy to level and generate cash (or raw mats for crafting professions). Alchemy is good (also a transmute specialist here) and Jewelcrafting has been decent so far. Leatherworking is a huge disappointment, as there's bugger all I can make for my Shammies that is both good and BoE.

Definitely not profitable, but I did it more for the fun / self-reliance side of it than to be strictly profitable.

ALWAYS level an enchanter in your group, up to 275 skill at least.

When you get around to "soloing" instances, there'll be so many unwanted blue drops that you could convert into Large Prismatics.

I neglected to do this on my five shamans, and now I'm faced with the pain of powerlevelling enchanting 1-275 :(
