Hi
I am currently looking for a solution to get a 17" TFT Monitors on top of another one.
I've found the "Ergotron DS 100 Vertical" which will work excellent for this but I got 6 TFTs so I got to buy 3 Ergotrons.
Ain't that problem but the amount of 199$ / each is a lil bit... outch :(
any other / cheaper ideas to handle this?
(I can't fix the TFT on a wall because there is no wall behind my desktop)

Multi monitor stands are expensive no matter which way you cut it.
This sounds like what you might be looking for: http://www.ergoindemand.com/lcd_monitor_stands_multiple.htm or this http://www.airtech.net/14mumodistfo.html
Whatever you end up going for, just make sure it's VESA compliant...

Went on ebay, got refurbished ergotron stand. get the quad ds100 stand and 2 extenders, that will let you do 6 monitor stand on one base. I paid around 358 total.

Just keep your eye on E-bay. A deal will come around. I was very lucky and got 2 DS100s shipped and everything. Paid $60 total. They were used but in perfect shape. If I can find a deal like that, you can to =)

I recently purchased this:

But now that i look at the price its about the same as three of those ergotrons. I liked this model of hex mount because it can accomodate larger monitors than most.

You can make VESA compliant mounts yourself, if you have the tools, they might not look as nice but will probably be cheaper. Not sure where I saw the article but it was about some guy who makes video walls and his preferred mounting method is MDF with holes drilled at the right place to screw into VESA mount.

wow.
thanks for all the ideas and input.
I still got a problem spending 400$, 500$ or even 600$ for a really nice solution because I don't know yet how far I will go. When I've kicked my toons to 60 and it's still fun, Wrath of the Lich is realeased and it's still possible to PVE with all the toons then I will buy myself one of these really cool monitor stands.
this ergoindemand and the tigerdirect stand with 2x3 tfts is.... WOW :D
But currently I am going to spend my $$$ on hardware stuff to get the equipment complete so I need a cheaper solution.
So I'm currently thinking about this:
6,95 € / each

fixed on a metal / wood base like:

or this way:

I'll think about this on weekend.
Bradster: I've added the ergotron stuff to my favorite search on ebay. Only thing you'll find is this neo-flex stuff. Wouldn't be a problem to use them when the arm would be longer so I can get the second tft on top of the main tft which stands on the desktop.
But I keep on searching :)
