My first trip into BRD at level in a looooooong time, I forgot what a prick Fineous Darkvire ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Fineous_Darkvire') was at 50...

Earthshock heals, purge buffs, still a no go, once he selects a guy to take out, its all over for them, I can't keep them up.

I got him to about 12% the first time, 8% the second, my gear is broken so, I got about half way to 51, I'll give him another go then.

what an a-hole.

I struggled aswell with him untill I hit 52,
then I just nuked the crap out of him and didn't take the time to heal.
3/5 were still standing when he dropped.

Right now I'm struggling on Golem Lord Argelmach ('http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/mob.html?wmob=8983&locale=enUS;source=live')
I can make him run away and come back if I hit with all 5 characters during the pull,
but he'll return to fast and gank my group from behind.

If you hit him with only 1 bolt during the pull, EM and start nuking he won't run off.
So I tried nuking him down and "cc" the adds with grounding and stoneclaw totems.

1% wipes ftl

We tried him at 55, 2x mage and 2x priest.
We soooo lack a tank for this dude...tried different tactics, but we still so suck.
Get him down to 10% or something, we still full health , but running pretty low on mana.
Burning his mana with a priest is a long task. If he resists frostbolts and fireballs a few times it's a goner , he wipes us.
Bastard resists frost nova's 100% of the time, so I can't lock him in one place and use evocation to gain the last bit of mana we need.
Going for him this weekend again, prolly hit 60 tonight.

Killed Fineous @ 52 last night with no issue, pew pew dead , got those sweet Lead Surveyor's Mantle ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=11842#comments') shoulders to drop, now we just need four more...

Also @ 52 last night:

Tried to free Commander Gor'shak ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Commander_Gor%27shak') and was overwhelmed, will try again at 53.

Ring of Law: got Anub'shiah ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Anub%27shiah') was no problem, dropped Carapace of Anub'shiah ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Carapace_of_Anub%27shiah')for me to DE

The vault room: Killed everyone guarding no problem, forgot how it worked, was opening the last vault and the guy came and woke up the golems, I wiped. Ran back and killed them and looted everything else.

Lord Incendius ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Lord_Incendius') : no prob , don't recall what he dropped, something I DE'd

Pyromancer Loregrain ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/111') : no prob, dropped the Kindling Stave ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Kindling_Stave') more DE

General Angerforge ('http://www.wowwiki.com/General_Angerforge') : Killed him, but wiped on the adds , had one priest and lowbie left, ran back and the adds had de-spawned but he had not, so I was able to loot Force of Will ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Force_of_Will_%28trinket%29')

Golem Lord Argelmach ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Golem_Lord_Argelmach') : Killed all the adds around the area, started on him, he ran behind me into the other room, killed one golem before he returned and was killing me from behind, turned my group, killed him , but the other golem wiped the group from behind as I was killing him. Came back and killed the golem and looted him for the Naglering ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Naglering')

Stopped in at the Grim Guzzler and was talking to Plugger Spazzring ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Plugger_Spazzring') , bought some drinks, closed the window, hit my follow button, and one of my guys attacked him, the bar joined in and I wiped. Not sure why they attacked, I'll look at that macro tonight, thinking it was the assist in it or something. Worked my way back, made a bad pull, was tired and getting sloppy , so I called it a night after I dinged 53... will be farming those Lead Surveyor's Mantle ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=11842#comments') tonight :)

Just recently cleared BRD with my team, didnt find any of the bosses mentioned above as any pain tho, but i ventured into BRD pretty late i guess at 52.

The pain started when i hit the Magmus (guy after the "respawn room" and before the last room where Emperor is!) Took me a while to find out how to kill him, and not standing in the fire coming out from the sides.
Also If u think Darkvire hits like a truck, have fun at Emperor.. Doing 1.5k crits when he goes "red" not sure what the thing he gains is called, he also then go immune to any dmg. After about 5-6 wipes on him i got him down, was pretty lucky tho i guess
i put all my gift of the narru up on the shaman who got the aggro right before he went "red" and spam healed the shaman! And believe it or not, he actully survived! And then it was just nuke till he was down:) But emperor hits REALLY hard :P

Also managed to do Jail Break at 53! Was pretty hard:]

and PS: don't do the "respawn room" when your tired, gonna end up bad!
Trust me>_>

The room filled with a thousand non-elite dwarfes falling down like nothing but respawning every 20-30 secsonds i believe.

OK, so its been a looooooooong time since I have done this part of BRD. I forgot how this works, so I had to look it up on wowwiki ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Grim_Guzzler') however, the thing that was different from the description is, at some point in me entering the bar three anvilrage officers and a fireguard came in through the back door and just stood there in front of it.

I gave Private Rocknot his drinks, and jumped over the walls to be on the ramp between the two floors of the bar, he busted the kegs and Phalinx ran over to the door... where the anvilrage officers where.... so, now I had 5 leets to get through to get out the door. There was no mention of the officers and fireguard in wowwiki. I had done the quest to get the recipie so I wondered if thats what spawned them, I do remember them doing a /y something about investigating a disturbance, so I was thinking thats what brought them out.

So, i figured I'd kill the big guy first, and did, and got the fireguard before I wiped because of ads. I seems that when I dropped my totems on the ramp, the crowd on the tables to the left of the ramp came too.

I came back and went for the remaining officers, and found out the 4 leet chicks dancing on the table by the door also pull when you pull the officers ( no i didn't use CL to pull), so I got another officer down, before I wiped again to the adds. At this point, I was getting tired of dying, so I rezed and this time ran past the last officer, and just killed him when I got on the ramp on the outside of the door, but wiped again do to all the adds comming again... so, buy this time my ahnks where in cd. I could not die anymore.. I got all the way to the The Lyceum ('http://thottbot.com/?s=The%20Lyceum') before I got over run by all those little guys respawning all over me , and by this time it was late and decided to go to bed.

So, questions:

Is the officer spawn at the back door a result of the recipie quest? If so, how did you get past it?

Mac

Ok, As I said, Its been a long time since I went through here. I really don't even remember this part, and now I'm wondering if I ever actually did it at all when I was first coming up through here, I think I did, but can't remember it, i guess the Alzheimers is setting in early..

Anyway, I can't seem to find a strat on this place. I think I understand that I need to get some torches from some guys in here and light the flames to get the doors open to the next boss Magmus. However, when I went in here, I got over-run by the guys that just kept respawning on me, they where easy to kill, but I didn't have any time to sit and drink and eventually ran oom and died, they just kept respawning all around me.

Any suggestions how to deal with this room?

So, questions:

Is the officer spawn at the back door a result of the recipie quest? If so, how did you get past it?I did this the other night - Ribbley and the Thunderbrew recipe. Neither spawned the guards. I just bought the fella his beers, and then waited on the ramp for the Phalanx, pulled that to the corner, squished it and then went through the broken door. I'll have to have a look to see what causes the guards to appear. I know killing the barman aggros the bar (all those years ago after the barman shanker), but I can't for the life of me remember what triggers the guards. Prolly talking to someone. But yeah. be careful with your totems in there - earth bind totems for example will aggro them (like the beetles in ZF).

I tried just steaming along, dropping magma totems. It worked for a while, but I couldn't find a flame keeper and then got overrun. It'd have been nice to have cleared BRD, but without some proper aoe it's an ass :D.

Yeah, dropping the beers on the ground to pull the guys from the bar and bustin the kegs to get the recipe is about all I could remember :D

How to get through that door was like the ONE thing I didnt get in WoW back when I was running BRD with my paladin (had to get the stupid 0.5 tier gloves from the last boss). Tonight I will get there with my 5 x lvl 55 Shaman-team so I better read up, since there is noone who can open the door foor me.

If that's all you need, it's easy sauce. Just buy some of the Blackrock Ale from Plugger Spazzring and then speak to Private Rocknot (he should have a ! on him when you hover. After a few goes at the quest (2-3) he'll get a bit boisterous and set off towards the big kegs demanding more ale. At that point get yourself over to the ramp and wait for him to get to the last keg. He'll shake it quite a bit, and it'll burst, covering some patrons who get a bit annoyed. That causes the Phalanx to break the door and go red, so you can pull him into the corner, kill and then just walk through the door. The rest of the bar should remain neutral, so just watch with totems.

I ran through the grim guzzler again last night and just bought the guy some suds and no guards showed up. So it must have been me doing the recipie quest first that caused the guards to show up.

As for the Lyceum, I wiped again and couldn't make it back because I got gf agro and had to get out of combat with her before I could continue. By the time I ran back everything on the way there had respawned so I said f*k it and went to bed. I did get that core frag so that was a nice little 10k xp pop.

I found a strat on wowwiki that said to follow the right wall around to the braziers(sp), I did that the first time and it didn't work for me. This time I tried to run up the middle and dodge the pats but I was not successful either. I'm trying to figure out the balance between moving forward without aggroing too many, and staying still long enough to drink and not get caught in the respawn of the group I just killed( 30 secs). Guess I'll try to run the wall again.

I was thinking, ok, maybe another level and I'll have it, then I think, wait, damn some have done this at 54 or earlier ??? oh well, I never claimed to be good at this but I am inspired by those that are.

Mac, you shouldn't beat yourself up too badly. Some instances are just HARD. Everyone has a different setup and a different play style (and group composition will make some fights nearly impossible while others are trivial). That being said - my best advice on the Lyceum is to first find the torch bearers. Nothing is as important as finding them. I stay out of Aggro range (at the entry) until I can find some way to ID them (I think WoWWiki has a map of where they spawn. If you are doing an All Shammy group you may want to set Fire Nova totems down ... then run forward, grab a TON of guys and run back to the totems so they explode on the guys. I had 2 mages and Holy Nova on my priest ... so this fight was pretty trivial for me - I don't know how hard it'll be for you without the AoE. I guess keep spamming Lightning shield on your guys and keep them moving until you get the torch and then get to the platform. If you stand on the near edge of the platform you can usually keep out of aggro range of respawns (which gives you a chance to rest and get your bearings for the next torch).

Good luck, and if you end up there until you're 60, so what? The idea is to have fun with your crew... not give up in frustration :)

The idea is to have fun with your crew... not give up in frustration :)Thanks, I didn't mean to be sounding like I was QQ'in and beating myself up, dispite how it might look, I am having a blast doing this. I'm just looking for ideas that I hadn't thought of yet to deal with these issues as they come up and I find myself struggling with it. Our multibox single class x5 set ups sometimes lack the tools available to a normal mixed class group, so I figure the best place to have a conversation about it is here. I'm not skilled enough at this to attempt a multi class set up yet, so until I decide to tackle that, I'm just pressing on with these guys!

I was keeping LS up, and dropping novas which didn't kill all of them so then I was having to shock and CL when it was up to clean up the remainders. Then I tried dropping magma 1st to get them low on hp and then nova because of the cd on nova, and that seemed to work , but then I was in one place too long and just got over run. I re-red the wiki page after they wiped last night and made a /tar macro to find those little bastards, hopefully it will go better. If not, I'm halfway to 57 and I'll try it again.

Again thanks for the input. :)

57.5 now, still wiping in the Lyceum.

Finally made it to the first brazier, and got overrun again. I had read somewhere that I would be safe at the braziers and sat down to drink and the guys respawned around it and pulled TWO traveling packs lol damn these little bastards :P The good news is my magma totems can kill the groups that run up around me, as long as its not two or more groups that is... guess I'll be trying again at 58 lol...

Hehe - I was curious how you were getting on. I chickened out of going back after my first try - your perseverance makes me think I should head back :)

It's a tough old room for a non boxer with a fair bit of luck & timing involved to get through, so keep plugging at it. You'll make us all jealous when you're showing off your Ironfoe :p

My method for doing the dreaded lyceum with 4xshammies and a pally was making a macro that did 3x Fire nova totems and 1x stoneclaw totem in rotation, so a different shammy would use his stoneclaw each pull to conserve cooldowns, while single targeting the ranged guys (there were 1 or 2 in each group). Then move into the space the group you just killed occupied, drink for a few seconds, and do the next group. This seemed to work pretty well (after a lot of attempts getting the rythm down :) ), just watch out for pats.

Make sure not to leave any totems behind, as a group will repop and agro them and come running at you later on.

This was at level 54 or 55 I think, not sure exactly.

I'm impressed you where able to do it at that level, I leveled out of it and moved on to the outlands.
