What you think about the new spell haste gear for shammies?
I reckon it's cool to cast quickly... but should you sacrifice spell dmg for it?

I am leaning towarded it as it equals more crits however it is at a cost to spl dmg. Someone should run some numbers....

I saw a post on elitist jerks a while back that broke it down.
Basically, You'll do more dps by stacking spell damage than haste until you get into t6 instances.

I believe there is a spreadsheet over on EJ that you can plug your existing stats and it will tell you which is better from an item budget standpoint given your current gear level.

Well there's not only numbers to consider, but also the tactical advantage in pvp where opponents have less time to do something about your casts.

True, but there's also an advantage to hitting harder when you do hit, and with ALL SPELLS, not just ones with casting times (read: instant casts).

My take is the budgeting of the haste mechanic doesn't compare too favorably to spell dmg on balance.

Haste lowers the global cooldown, so yes it helps you on instant casts too.

Yes. This is absolutely true.
However, you will need a lot of haste to even notice it.

The next question is then of course how do you get a ton of haste in your pvp suit while still maintaining a good amount of dmg and resil. Skycall Totem, BM Trinket. What else.

The 60 Badge Cloak has both version of spell haste, and spell damage.

PvP Rings and Neck has Dominance or Subjugation variety.

Or you can check wowhead and filter for any items with spell haste.

next time there is premades on the PTR we should be testing this hardcore. now that im gemming all epic gems and using mainly crit and spell dmg, I am interested to see what pure haste would do for me with 1000 spell power base before any gemmed slots are up.

I believe that haste rating starts to get usefull when you got 1k+ spelldamage, which isn't possible atm. (counting in the haste gems/gear)

You need about 200 haste rating to notice it if i'm right, which just isn't worth the loss of spelldamage/crit in PVP.

What else.I would shy away from proc based haste items. Mostly because they won't proc at the same exact time for all of your clones. This means that you have 1 or 2 clones casting faster than the rest and end up out of sync. I would make sure every clone has the exact same haste or it may really screw up your sync.
