... and all I can say is "WOW"!

Disclaimer: This post is all about pve - I you like to pvp this setup is not for you.

I have played my group of clothies to 69.5 and for quite some time I had the plan to include a warrior into my group. I wanted to wait with transfering my characters to the realm where my clothies are till 70 but I had a weak moment yesterday and I figured "What the hell...".

Some preparations had to be made:
* Create copies of the Wow folders on all my computers to be able to start the old and the new setup with different icons
* Remove all addons from the new WoW and check which addons are really needed; get the newest version of those addons
* Configure my old nostromos on one of my slave machines to equip with heal macros (my priest was on my main machine)
* Rearrange char distribution between computers and redo all macros, keybindings etc.

So now I run 1 war (main machine), 1 priest, 1 lock, 2 mages.

I have my keyboard for warrior movement (T, F, G, H) and the little finger of my left hand for dd abilities of my clothies (A, S, <, Y, X, C etc.). The buttons on my mouse hold the basic tanking abilities and the other useful war abilities are arranged on the screen to be accessible for clicking. My nostromo is next to my mouse so I can access the basic "heal war" macro with my little finger or use my right hand to access the nostromo.

I went to the mana tombs and after getting used to the fact that i have to do three things at the same time (tank, heal, dd) I had a blast. It worked so much better than my previous clothy setup that I do not want to go back and in fact ask myself why I didn't go that way in the first place; Voidy tanking is so weak :(

Anyways,
I am having a blast and I just wanted to share this with you so any new multiboxers whose focus is on PvE may consider trying this setup. It may be that including a paladin tank is even better (I don't know much about paladins).

Enjoy your multiboxing,
Bunny

I like druid tank much more because his aoe tanking is better then warrior's - swipe owns :)

Paladin tank is pretty good also. I like paladin tanking the best but he tanks with aoe so you might have trouble with cc.

I am doing 1 priest 4 warlocks team for pvp and planning level my 35 lvl druid to 70 after for instances. Thats perfect to have tank for heroics etc.

i run one feral druid and one healing specced priest.

the priest uses mouseover macro so. well it's kinda easy. but then again.
it is easyer than 5boxing i guess :)

Whilst I was deciding on a PvE team, I fairly quickly came to the conclusion that Warrior, Priest, 'Lock and 2 Mages would be the way to go. In short, its a group that has *everything* you would need. Depending on where you want the groups strengths to lie, you might think about swapping out the 'lock for an Enhancement Shammie, for the extra Buffs and off-tanking. The obvious disadvantage of this is the distinct lack of wipe-recovery.

Not as frequent for the Shammy, but they do reincarnate so you still have wipe recovery. It's just every hour without talent compared to every 30 mins for soulstone.

Beat me to it Tealuin... with Talents a Shammy can resurect every 40 mins and of course can then rez everyone else ;)

just remember to stock up on Ankhs

I would go with an Elemental Shammie... Does the same amount of damage as enhancement.. if not more... wrath of air would help out the bulk of your damage even more... and you really only need to spam 1 or 2 buttons... Lightning bolt and chain lightning :D

Nice job Bunny,

I had an epic fail with my attempt. So I'm 62 with all my boxing guys. I have 2 alts that could tank a 63 warrior (arms) and a 70 Druid (feral) over 415def.

I just couldn't down the 2nd boss in ramparts. So I got a little frustrated and decided to summoned my 70 druid for tanking (figured I’d try that warrior next).

I find DD to be very easy with simple Cast sequence macros. Healing and tanking however requires a bit more fineness. So I set it up one keyboard for tanking, other keyboard for both DD and healing. It didn’t work out. Reason why is my multiplexer was sending all the keyboard inputs to my tank as well, 1 happens to be caster form which is auto follow for the rest of them. 2 is my DD and he would switch in to cat.

To make it work I need to reassign all the keys for the druid NOOOOOOOO! Or unplug the multiplexer on that PC when tanking. Doing healing DD and tanking on one keyboard is pretty amazing. I’ll figure it out and get good at it one day. I used to Duel Box Main heal with a Templar and Tank with my monk in EQ2 for groups, no problems! Only that combat system is very forgiving and well, much slower and easier.

My friend is busting his arse leveling a protection pally. Already 40 in a week. He want’s to main tank for me in end game instances. He’s going back to 2nd shift (same shift I work) so it’s going to work out great for both of us. I’m just going rotate the locks for rep. same for arena for him.

Hopefully it works out and I won’t need to break a sweat managing all that craziness

Yeah I'm going to do 5 Shamans, and my friend already is smashing along on a feral druid - hes going to tank for me endgame.

I also have a friend Holy Pally which I'm borrowing as hes doing Officer Training in the Army for like two years - was thinking of going Protection on it to tank stuff when my Druid mate isn't around.

This is the exact same makeup for my pve group as well :) (warrior/priest 2 mages/lock). I am having a great time playing this group as well.
Before I started I had doubts about being able to play this group but it really isn't that hard at all.
CC works great since with focus you can set it before a fight. Having a lock instead of a third mage is def a good idea and doesn't make anything more difficult really. The only real challenge with this group is dealing with healer aggro I think. Maybe a druid or paladin would be easier with this I'm not sure I have no experience of them. This is my only nagging doubt about this group is what is the best tank.

I have my Mag group to 13/14 (incl the PvP lock to replace the PvE warrior).

Still working out my macros, but healing will be on my X-keys Pro except for the instant AoE and fixed AoE bindings.

I've taken a lot of the various ideas from people here and combined them such that most fights will be keys 1-4 broken down into pull/build aggro/DPS/imminent death(shard gathering) stages. With pull setup, focus, CC and all of that will be on X-keys Pro and KVM switching, buffs and food/water on the X-keys Stick.

Taken a lot of thought, so haven't played for a few days and will have to refine I'm sure at times as my crew gets new spells/abilites.

Update:
I had the whole weekend to play and I am happy with what can be done. I was able to clear all of setekk, mechanar first boss, botanika first 3 bosses, all of CoT1 (great fun). My equipment is an assortment of quest blues and the occasional green.
It's just great fun!
