View Full Version : Shaman surviaviblity
My 4 shamans level 67 keep getting demolished by 1 70 warrior in S1/S2. I can't do anything he rips though my guys. I don't know what im doing wrong here. The level difference can't make that BIG of a deal. Maybe resilience?

I just hammered the shit out of a rogue/hunter combo tonight that were trying to gank me in Zangarmarsh (I'm 63). Basically, I didn't even have to drop totems.
They popped on me and started attacking. It was like so:
lightning bolt
EM+CL
SHOCKOMG (dead hunter)
chain heal x5
lightning bolt
lightning bolt
CL
SHOCKOMG
chain heal
lightning bolt
lightning bolt
SHOCKOMG (dead rogue)
Throw in a couple of fire nova totems if the rogue vanishes. Also, lesser healing wave the person the rogue is beating on if he uses Cloak of Skillz.
I have no time to react though, the person he is beating on dies so fast and then i look at my bars and everyone is almost dead from gay aoe whirlwind shit or whatever. not to mention the constant fear bombs that turn my guys around. What button is your /follow and do you have a /assist party 1 macro or is every attack bound into it? Also how do you set up your heals? right now i just click on the person who needs heals macro for /assist then hit my heal. Seems like it takes FAR to long.

Yeah, it's tough to adjust. For fear bombs, that's a bitch unless you keep tremor totems down.
Regarding AoE, bind a key to do self-targeted chain heals and things become a LOT easier.
My follow button for my alts is the same button I use to "move forward" on my main, so it's very natural to just "bump move" forward to refollow alts.
Regarding assists, all my guys work off of /assist focus (my main is focus) and keep in mind that you can still target people while dead. I also have separate keys bound to be able to turn my alts all at once regardless of /follow. (WASD is my main ONLY movement keys. My L/R/U/D arrow keys move everyone independently).
Regarding heals, I have 8 keys setup for this. 1-5 cast Lesser Healing Wave depending on which one I see needs healing (/cast [target=dondiego] lesser healing wave). My 6th key casts lesser healing wave on whoever my focus target has targeted (focustargettarget). My 7th key casts max rank Healing Wave on a fall-through macro. My 8th key has Chain Heal cast on Self(/cast [target=player] chain heal).
Adjust to taste. It isn't easy or obvious at times, but you'll get used to it after a bit. ;)
I have PiP enabled so my CTRL+F1/F2/F3/F4 Change my characters out. Assist is off of /party1 so whoever is leader. Little more maneuverability, sorta the same as yours though. I was thinking about making buttons to where lets say button 1 heals Me with lesser Shift 1 does chain heal on me and Ctrl 1 does big heal. And do this for each person 1 2 3 4. Seems like it would get confusing? Setting up and getting use to your UI seems to be the HARDEST part of this. Then its just adapting to what goes down. So your W key is your /follow key too? That seems like it would be better then my CAPS key.

Yeah, my "move forward" key is my "follow" key on my alts. Very intuitive. Also, you can easily do the CTRL/ALT/SHIFT modifiers for heals on your guys. I just happen to have an easier time setting up single-press keys as getting your modifiers pressed isn't always the easiest.
GL either way. :)
What would the macro look like? I know there out there, iv forgotten what it would consist of.

For the follow/movement keys, I went into my WoW-->Options-->Keybinds and set move forward to "E".
On my alts, I set one of my hotbar buttons to "E" and added the macro "/follow focus" to the "E" button. So every time I move forward and let off the key, my alts refollow.
For the heal thingy, it's something like this:
/cast [nomod][target:focus] lesser healing wave
/cast [mod:alt][target:focus] healing wave
/cast [mod:shift][target:focus] chain heal
Then just modify your [target:blah] to target whoever you want.

(forgive me...I'm fading into sleepyland fast)
My keys look like so:
E = forward
A = backward
F = strafe right
D = strafe left
It's basically setup so my home keys are the defaults for my movement. :P
you have the WEIRDEST SET UP EVER!!! normal is W=Forward S=Back A=Left D=Right, Iv also heard ESDF E=Forward S=Left D=Back F=Right But you have EADF
Edit
What is your S key for then?

S = sit down.
Yes, I'm wierd. I've never been one to follow conventions. :P
You could use S for a diffrent hot key imo.
What do you use to /target or whatever. You said /focus but what is your button for that.

I use my mouse thumb button to target nearest enemy, then my alts macros all do /assist focus.
