I'm new and fail with the search box, but how would 5x paladins go, hypothetically it seems great to me.

All wear plate and thus positioning isn't as key. At least one specs prot and one specs holy, one would probably be ret for sanctity aura, other two would possibly be prot as well.

With everyone up there AOEing it seems alright, is the dps just too weak for it to work? I'm assuming it will be fine as powering instances with one geared pally works well powering through healer mobs like nothing all the way through zf.

Plus with WoTLK reactive heals coming, AoE HoT, itemized gear etc etc. it also seems that the three dps could wear tailor gear to add to the consecration until itemization catches up, its not like they cant survive the rare damage between BoP and DS.

Anyone tried it, success? Failure?

What do you plan to do against casters? What if they try to run a short distance and cast again? What do you plan to do with the 2 years of your life it will take to get lvl 40 since pally DPS is like hitting with a wet newspaper? If you really do want to try, aim for tiger gear or just strength even if it is leather (<40) or mail (>40). You won't need the stam unless it is on your main from rogue ganking and you can 4 hammer him. I would have an alt pick up first aid. I always hated it when a pally would bubble and heal him self costing no mana. So if your main has to bubble, you can have an alt heal him and not cost any mana. Think of a plan for AOE. You will be completely in melee range 1000% of the time, so if mages, bosses, magma totems, etc, want to AOE, think of what to do against it.

Don't let people discourage you. Just do what makes you happy, just saying there are things to think about with each combination. Good luck.

Oh, I fully understand what you are saying. Running mobs would be a major weakness. I was hoping the dps from consc would be enough, but alas I believe you are right. Can't think of a decent way to position for seals/auto attack dps...oh well pipe dream down :P Not like it would be a good setup to do anything much I guess ;)

Paladin DPS is pretty good actually, more than good enough for any 5 man stuff... I'm geared at about T4/T5 level overall on my Ret set and do around 1000 DPS over a full Kara run, heroic is more like 800-900. Just depends on how good the tank is, how hard I push and what consumables I choose to use really.

ALSO, you might not believe it but Paladin has some of the best potential for burst damage out of any class :)

The real blocker to multiboxing any class that has to melee is positioning.

With WotLK coming soon, and paladins getting an overhaul, it will be interesting to see. I currently have a 70 pally and a 58 pally, and a few lowbies, so i could boost 3 more relatively easily. I was thinking of doing it anyway, just for flexibility.

For PVE, I can see this being fun. For PVP, the fact that a lot of pally DPS comes from melee means that people moving around on you will make life hell. :P
