Good'day all :)
Just started multiboxing, and started with 3 Hunters, currently level 12, planning to go BM spec.
I see lots about shamans, warlocks and even mages regarding MBing, but have hardly seen anything about hunters.
is there a reason for this that I am not currently aware of? The lure for me was of 3 characters, plus 3 pets with just doing 3MBing. Great for casters PvP, and also for PvE provided I get a healer friend, and a tank friend (even the possibility of making one hunter pet a tank pet, turtle etc and getting my friend to DPS instead).
Would this be feasible, and is there a particular reason against such a setup?
Glad to be part of the MBing community ^_^

I just started out 3 hunters + pala tank + shammie healer
for me the 3xtrap + 3xpet (offtank if things go wrong) are a nice bonus, we'll see how it works out.
btw for levels 1-6 my shammie didn't heal once, and my pally didn't hit more than 10 mobs :)
we'll see how it works in dungeons soon enough *nods at ragefire chasm*

I have 5 hunters and I love it. I paused on them at 39 to get the WSG necklace, and to work on my shammies (since they had rest built up). Casters in PVP can't even cast 1.5 secs spells with 5 pets on them, let alone hunters shooting. I can throw my pets as a 60-70 yard grenade and the people die before they can even get 30 yards from me. Of course, there is no healing, so I chose Draenei for Gift of the Naaru. It works really well. Also, most rogues try to gank my main, so I use potions to help with that. It really is easy even with elite mobs, since after you get spirit bond (health regen) everyone gets health (pets and you). Also, I try to share aggro equally, so all pets have growl turned on. They bounce aggro around and they all get hurt equally, so no heals are really necessary. I use mixed pets to get buffs and debuffs (1 screech, 1 furious howl, 2 high DPS, 1 charge).
In short, I have had 0000 problems with 5 hunters and love it. Good luck with yours.

The reason why many people play shamans is that they can do about anything quite decently (heal, deal, rezz, ankh, totembuffs...). Plus, they wear mail and can carry a shield. Here, a team of identical classes is relatively easy to play and versatile.
Hunters are fun and pretty effective (my raiding main character is a MM hunter), but they simply cannot heal themselves. Neither can they resurrect others - unless feign death is not resisted and you're an engineer able to defibrillate (not 100% chance either). So when one of your hunters dies, you have to walk while the others wait.
The biggest issue with hunters used to be the so-called dead zone in between ranged and melee attacks. It has been severely improved in one of the earlier patches, and some folks out there enjoy boxing hunters now. Check the search function for "hunters".
Cheers.

I just started to level up a threesome of hunters to join my 70 NE Hunter and 50 NE Priest. Clicking on the pic will load the full screen image.

To watch the three owls (just grabbed 'em in Teldrassil for fun) take off after something is pretty awesome. I have them set to rotate concussive shot between the three, so even if I get aggro, the consecutive concussive shots keep them slowed...at least in theory. I'm not out of Teldrassil yet, so not much lasts past the opening barrage of Arcane Shot x 2, Concussive Shot, Serpent Sting x 2 and the pets...
Is fun though.

I made 5x hunters for the hogger raid. At level 1 they are awesome. One shot, from each, one kill. Looks like it has potential to be pretty fun. I might have to give it a try for real.

I've got 5x hunters around level 15, and fights barely make it beyond 1 shot a piece. I plan on spec'ing 3 BM, 1 MM, and 1 Surv to get some decent synergy working.

Had 4 hunters for several months now, and are almost 70.
Definitely have their highs and lows. Once I hit 70 and do pvp a little and some more instances, I'll write up a quick review and thoughts.
