Hi All,

My friend had his acct hacked and has had his 3 70s deleted, Blizz are working on resolving it, but indications are that it will take several weeks.

In the mean time, his brother (same surname, same address) has quit the game so has a spare 70 that he's agreed he can have.

When attempting the transfer however, it fails, giving a message something like:
"The target account does not meet the requirements for an account to account transfer"

(he cant check the exact wording, site is down atm)

He has talked to a GM who has advised him that the transfer should be allowed.

Anyone got any ideas why it wont go through?

Thanks

Ky

Not currently, no, but apparently he tried in the past when it was active and it didnt work then either.

well you will NOT be able to transfer it if the account is not active and in good standing.... so no matter what OTHER problem there is with the account we'll not be able to to help you trouble shoot it if the account is not active

I highly doubt this. Your GM was either misinformed, or misinterpreted.

There should be a paid transfer FAQ somewhere on this page: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/character-transfer-intro.html (requires sign-in -- unfortunately I'm at work and my authenticator is at home so if someone can give me the direct link it would be appreciated).

There is also a FAQ at: https://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=85662250&postId=854849953&sid=1

I want to move a character from my account to my (parent/sibling/friend)'s account (or vice versa). Is this possible?

The account-to-account transfers are intended to allow a player to move characters from one account to another, so long as the player is the registered owner of both accounts. This service is not intended to allow players to transfer characters from/to accounts that they are not the owner of. Please remember that it is not possible to legally transfer the ownership of an account from one player to another, and that doing so (or allowing someone other than the registered user to log into the account) is a serious violation of our Terms of Use and may result in the suspension or termination of the account.

These threads all go into great detail about account ownership, account transfer, and other nitpicky tidbits of the World of Warcraft terms of use ('http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html') that we all sign upon account creation, and re-sign every time we apply a patch. You, your friend, and your friend's brother, should make sure to read and understand it in its entirety before continuing to play the game, or attempting any sort of account/character transfer.

I have, in the past, transferred a character from an inactive account to an active one. So I doubt that is your technical problem.

Clarification on the rules is allowed, but discussing, assisting, or encouraging anyone to break the WoW rules is against our community rules ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Board&boardID=31') and will result in a swift thread lock. I'm not yelling at anyone, just making a preemptive warning now that I've made the rules crystal clear.

If you're going to quote me, quote the entire sentence, so its not taken out of context

But but, I included a ... (dot dot dot) :(

I actually don't mind -- the only thing I can log into without the authenticator is the official WoW forums, which usually works out for all normal purposes.

I don't see why I'd want to log into account administration from work... :P Except when they, for some odd reason, only made the character transfer FAQ accessible when you're logged in. :P

Theres a fine line when doing something like this. Sure you cant share accounts unless its with your one minor child. But when that child grows up? This the reason for being able to transfer. Its a fine line to walk but hey who here really drives the speed limit? If you only need the last names to match then transfer. Your not sharing that account...it is in your name.

We do. ;)

If it is against the ToS of the game you are discussing it is against dual-boxing.com’s community guidelines to discuss ways of breaking said ToS. We are COMMITTED to keeping our hobby 100% compliant with the ToS of any game we play.
As per http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Board&boardID=31

If your minor dependant child has come of age, you are allowed to transfer their character to their own account, since they are now able to sign their own ToU/Eula with blizzard. Contact account administration if you need to change the name of the account to your child's, or if you need to perform this sort of transfer.

But be prepared with all the appropriate documentation, which when I contacted Blizzard was: faxed copy of the birth certificate for the child and notorized doumentation that you are indeed the child's official guardian.
