I have had three accounts from when wow first started.

I created one in my Wife's name and two in mine. All three have the same details apart from first name and have had since day one.

She only played for about a week and I have always used all of the accounts since.

Now, I want to try three boxing and I keep seeing people saying the accounts need to be in the same name. Is the fact that one is my wife's name enough to mean I shouldn't use that one or with it being same surname, address, payment details for 3+ years enough to mean I will be OK?

You cant do it. You will risk getting all the accounts banned. Phone Blizzard if your still unsure and hear it from them.

And thats pretty much all I can say without risking another E-Spanking from Vyndree.

My billing and email addresses are different, but all the name and address is the same. The first time you get reported for OMG HAX, the GM pulls up the account info, and you are done. Don't risk it.

HOWEVER if you have a character on her account that you have been using or want to transfer, you will be able to transfer to a new account since the last name matches. The paid character transfer servers are bugged to high hell after the issue with the Nightfall battlegroup servers, so good luck getting it accomplished prior to the weekend. You'll have to buy a new account and transfer the character(s) from her account to yours. Use the "Refer A Friend" and get a free month. Then cancel off her account and you'll be out maybe $40 for the WoW BattleChest and $25 per toon you want to transfer. Much better than levelling up a team only to get banned for account sharing. Blizzard takes a pretty hard stand on this and as a multi-boxer, you're already gonna be in the crosshairs soon enough.

Thanks guys. I kind of thought that would be the case but was hoping I was being paranoid:-)

I don't really want to risk it as I have a few 70s and a fair number of 60+ on the accounts so I guess risk isn't balancing reward.

I will probably do as suggested and open one extra account for my three boxing and maybe even do a transfer of a char or two.

Be careful on transferring. You risk getting both accounts band, one account band, or not having the transfer go through. Granted that blizzard lets some transfer go through, but they probably fully check 1 out of 100 transfers to make sure that everything matches up. It says in Blizzard rules to transfer BOTH accounts must be yours (meaning that accounts names, not only last name but first, must match)

I have spoke to Blizz on the phone, the transfer does and active check before the toon is moved to make sure the last names match, if they do then the x-fer is legit and there are no issues, if not, then it if flagged for review. If you legally move a toon there should be no issues so long as the other critiria are met.

Worst case in all this is that you'd have to fax in proof of ownership to blizzard if they do ban it.
