View Full Version : G15 compatability
Had a wee scan for this question and couldn't see any threads linked to this - I apologise if there is already one.
After coming across this website yesterday I decided it was time to try out multi-boxing properly for the 1st time. Have had 2 accounts for nearly 2 years now have just done some very crude 'follow' boosts/semi afk farming playing in windowed mode.
Installed Octopus last night and managed to wangle my way through the setup - pretty happy with how it has gone so far :)
Please note - Im pretty much a noob when it comes to this sort of thing so many thanks for the how to guides etc.
I also own a G15 - old skool one with blue backlit if that makes a difference, was handy for seeing who was talking in vent XD needless to say I never really used the G keys at all....... until now that is....
Created some useful macros to help me on my quest to experience multi-boxing but had difficulty getting the G keys to work properly when WoW was run thorugh Octopus. Macros would work if I loaded wow individually as normal but would become the 'default' keys while Octopus ran the game - spent loadsa time tryin to sort this and had to reboot several times as my G15 software would get stuck on 'key test' if I ever used that option while Octopus was running.
I think I may have done something wrong?
Can anybody help me please.
Many Thanks

I use one of these succesfully with Octopus.
I re-programmed all the G-Keys to be keystrokes on the NUMPAD (F-Keys or anything else will work) and then add them to the Octopus whitelist. Then using a bar mod addon inside WoW (I like infinibar) you just bind the keys to macros on each client in-game.
Obviously if the macro's you're trying to use can't be done with "in game" code then you're effectively botting and breaking the TOS. Which is bad.
Macros are all like
Shift+2 2 Shift+1 and so on...
Like I said pretty noobie ^ surely thats not against TOS?
Problem I have is; with Octopus running it recognises my 'G' keys as the standard setting - rather than the macros I programme, yet running WoW without Octopus recognises the macros fine....?

Shift+2 2 Shift+1 and so on...
If I get this right, you make the macro on your G15 to make it press "shift+2", "2", "Shift+1" after each other?
That is clearly botting and will get your account/accounts banned. Making one keypress simulate multiple ones ingame is cheating and I suggest to drop that idea right now.

well i've just put a G15 in my cart so I may find out what the problem is here soon, depending on what, I may fix it.
I read a post today that said running the Logitech software and keyclone both in administrator mode was required (this would only apply, I imagine, if using UAC or a user account). It might be because Vista (only Vista) is fussy with injected input, but thats guessing. I don't really know.

Check out this addon
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/9562/
It has some basic instructions on how to set up not only the addon but how to configure the G keys.
Stay away from the Macros and stick with the Keystrokes.
it appears that the G-Series keyboard profiler differentiates with left and right Ctrl and Alt so be wary of that. Also remember to update to the latest version :)

Seems that even if UAC is disabled, you still need to run it as administrator in vista; UAC just stops the alerts, it still forces you to make it run as admin :(
I'm running a classic (blue) G15 keyboard and keyclone; I can't really speak for sure in relation to Octopus, but my guess is as long as you're running the keyboard profiler as administrator (if vista) and have the keys mapped out to generic keyboard combinations (ctrl+alt+Q, alt+shift+I, etc) you shouldn't have any problems.

Currently at work right now reading the forums to get a good grasp on things before i get home and start dual boxing for the first time.
I also have a new G15 with vista 64 bit.
So to my question... Are yall (I'm from Alabama) saying that if I configure my G keys to do certain keypresses such as "CTRL+ALT+1" it wont work with the three games im going to be running?
Or i could have just missed somthing. Either way i will figure it out in a couple hours.
I did make a small guide here how to use setup the g15

I have the weirdest issue with G11 and octopus under vista x64.
I have 5 clients activated. I bound the G1 -> G18 to ALT+CTRL+Fxx keys and some CTRL + Fxx and some ALT + Fxx. They are unique and on XP 32 bit this was no problem.
When I am on my main, it only sees CTRL + Fxx and forgets that I had ALT bount with it also. This is not working as intended, but no problem I could live with the CTRL + Fxx to bind buttons on the passthrough clients. But for some odd reason when I go to an other client, I get different keypresses in that active window. It sees for example CTRL + F7 where I had CTRL + ALT + F3 bound. It mixes up the F keys for 1 of the 5 clients running! So I was like, does octopus now have hostrings? :D Anyone ever had this happen with octopus?
Anyone have a decent solution for me to use the G11 and get the passing of keys like I have them set in the G11/G15 Profile manager?
ps. I had to run the G11/G15 software under admin to get it working. Still have to get used to Vista and it obnoxious you are not Admin even if you think you are attitude.
