2.4.3 is up for those that haven't logged in today.
So those of you who have your teams between 30-40, rejoice.
For those of us stuck lower (golf tourney yesterday so no time to work on them) a faster way to ding-dom is on the horizon.
SO... the question remains:
Is Blizzard "dumbing" down the game, first with the XP curve difference from 20-60 and now mounts 10 levels earlier and a whole lot cheaper?
EDIT: Full patch notes can be found here ('http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/07/15/patch-2-4-3-is-going-live/').

They are making it more appealing imo, When a level cap is at 80 leveling will be very annoying but this is how I see it now. Level 30 so close mounts await! Hmmm level 30 I level alot faster now Outland is easier to get to! Hmm Northrend here I come! Hmmm Northrend 80 here I come!

I guess I should have clarified, as a certified "alt-o-holic" I love the 20-60 curve, and with a group of singlebox alts in the mid 30s range, and the thought of NOT having to hoof it (literally) through STV or Desolace (centaur quests...ugh) is VERY appealing.

Wouldn't it be funny if a level 30 mount was a slow moving cow? *snicker*

I don't think i will make anymore alts... Lvling will just take too long. Even powerlvling won't be easy.

Yay!
Mounts!

I'm happy to see them speeding up the levelling process. 1 to 58 is just a painful, mind-numbing grind for me these days, having done it countless times already. It's not until I get to Outland that I even think about gearing up.
If I could create characters (of my choice... not just a Death Knight!) that would start at level 58/60, in Outlands, I wouldn't hesitate!

Double edge sword :(
great because you only have to lvl like 20 to 30 lvls to get to 80. But if they do that then everyone will have an alt, and probably won't be able to control the toon too much because they where just thrown into it. The DK starts at 55 i beat by the time that you finish the DK quest chains you will be 58, which is perfect for outlands (think that is why they start at 55).

Ok.
55 works for me too. I can handle 3 levels of mind-numbing grind ;)

It's not really a grind, from my understanding it's a long set of chain quests to get/use your basic abilities.
great timing on this one. My guys just hit 36 last night and are parked at the trainer in Theramore

Is this meant to mean something other than mounts and the level adjustments that happened some months back? What are they doing now? Can I get a link?

I can't see how this change is anything but good, even though I doubt I'll ever level another toon with 12 70s already. Sure the "In my day, we did it the hard way" crew will QQ, but who cares.

Hate them.

Since so much of this game is focused on end-game, I don't have a problem with anything that makes it easier to get to 70. That's something I actually liked in GuildWars - you can create a max-level (20) character immediately to PvP with. There are a couple skills you could only get by leveling from 1-20, but you get to feel how a character plays immediately.
Now, for other games, there is a certain mystique with the extreme difficulty (time) required to get to max level. It makes those high-level players extremely rare to come across, unlike WoW where a majority of players have at least 1 level 70. I like both aspects, as long as they fit the game. WoW is great for end-game, but I think some other games could be amazing if they focused more on the adventure instead of simply leveling up. Something like a Forgotten Realms online game based on the AD&D 2nd edition: Player's Option ruleset, but re-engineer it for MMO play similar to WoW instead of turn-based AD&D-style.. heh I haven't thought about those books in a decade.
Since WoW has been focusing on end-game, and basically requires you to be max-level to continue on to the next expansion, it only makes sense that they'll dumb it down and make it easier. That's part of the reason for the removal/reduction of so many attunements - they want it to be easier for more players to experience the work they put into end-game features.

DAoC had a command to make you level 20 right away to enter the bg
I'd be glad if they let you make a premade 55; though at this point I have a group of pretty much every class that's 50+ so the only thing really that I'd use it for is to either change race or appearance.
I'd really hate to be a new player without any 70s with the expansion though.. ugh! For them they should just boost the xp curve again.. so you could ding every 15min or something.. get you to 55 in a day or two.

I believe they wanted to make leveling take just as much times as it did 1-60, damm if I can remember where I read that :P
If they didnt do this level 1-80 would a real drag.
