View Full Version : Escort quests, not for boxers?
On my way from lvl 1 to 65 I've done a fair amount of escort quests, and most of them never gets completed on my slaves but only on my main?
Have anyone elese noticed this? I accept the quest on all my slaves, they have it in their quest log but still doesent get it completed.
Happened again last night in Mana Tombs, where you escort the guy out of the instance and kill a small "boss" in the end. The miniboss dies and my paladin get the quest completed, not my 3 shamans...
Tried contacting a GM, got a short answer "Try it again" ;)

If you use the AcceptAll type macro then it screws up.
Treat escort quests exactly as you would if you were not a boxer:
- Make sure ALL members of the party are at the same stage of the quest (i.e. ready to accept the escort quest).
- Just ONE of them accepts the escort quest.
- All the others get a "Muppet is starting <blerg> quest, do you want to join in" type message.
- All of them say "yep".
That's always going to work, boxer or not :)

I use:
/script AcceptGroup();
/script AcceptQuest();
/script AcceptTrade();
/script CompleteQuest();
/script GetQuestReward();
/script ConfirmAcceptQuest();
And never have a messed up escort, sorry.

Electron, are you saying that you open the quest giver dialogue, talk to the quest giver with all your characters, get them to the "Accept" window, and then bash the macro?
Or are you saying that you accept on one character then bash the macro to get them all to take part.
The second will always work (ConfirmAcceptQuest). In my experience the first doesn't.
If the first method (all AcceptQuest at the same time) works for you then that's great, but it really didn't work for me, my wife (who also boxes) or apparently for the OP. We'd sometimes end up with two on the quest, sometimes three, and occasionally only one!
I imagine it's down to timing.
I see... I think the multiboxer addons has an option about escort quests?
Anyway, I thought since everyone had the quest in their log it would work.

I just have 1 talk and rest accept. I don't all talk. I thought that was the reason for the macro, so you wouldn't have to talk.

Yes :)
What doesn't work is having all drones talk and all try to accept at the same time, and I suspect that's what Kega was doing.

The system the Multiboxer v2 addon uses for example fucks this up. As has been said, accept the quest on your main and then accept the popup on the others. Either manually or by using a script.

I just do it manually.
It couldn't be arsed writing or using a macro as it's so infrequently needed.
Since lvl1, I'd have done maybe 6? 7? such quests.
One talks, the other four get the popup, and 8 mouse clicks later we're happy trails...

I currently use TwoBoxToolkit & Automaton addons for a few clone duties (duels/trade from non-friends denied, sell junk, auto-repair, etc etc)... I'm not sure which one it is off the top of my head that handles my clone's accepting quests but it works seamlessly.

I have an 'Accept' button with the first 3 script Accept lines from Electron's macro, but I follow Otlecs' method for escort quests, and I've never had a problem. Usually an escort quest involes turning in a quest (CompleteQuest()) at an escort, then accepting the next quest to escort them. I manually complete each quest with each alt first, then Accept the escort quest on my main. All alts will then be prompted to "join in escort quest - Yes/No", and I click 'Yes' for all 4. Do it quickly so the escort doesn't get too far by the time you click the 4th yes, and you shouldn't have a problem. Don't let your alts fall too far behind while escorting though - I had this happen during the robot chicken in Tanaris because I wasn't paying attention, and I had to redo it for the last 2 alts. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until I got to Booty Bay, so yeah, I was pissed.

In RFD, I cleared the path before starting the quest, accepted it and the pecker head RAN, not walked straight to the statue as I'm frantically clicking accept on my alts, I was delayed a bit because one didn't have room for another quest.
I had never seen an escort NPC run like this before.

You sir are /reported x 30 (this is including ALL my characters), you will be BANNED WITHIN MINUTES!
MWHAHAHAHahahahahahah*cough* *cough* *hack* *weeze* ha ha.... man got to quit smoking.
I use TwoBoxToolKit and it works pretty well for accepting escort quests. My clones are set to "Auto Accept Quest" so as soon as my main takes the quest, I see the text "Escort Quest Accepted" pop up in my relay channel. It's a huge convenience for doing the Skettis escort quest, especially on a pvp server. So I can just fly in, talk to him, and have all my characters on the quest and ready to go.
