View Full Version : Weird keybroadcasting issue with two machines

I've been using keyclone for a while on a single PC with no problems. I recently upgraded to 2 PC's which is working fine, except for a few weird issue (a friend of mine, who also uses keyclone on a 2-pc setup has the same problem). Basicly I cant use shifted chars in the chat window:
1. If I enter shift + 1 with the chat window open it will write "!" on my main pc and "1" on my slave pc.
2. If I press and hold shift + 1 with the chat window open it will write "111111111111111111!!11111111!!11111!111111111111" on the slave pc and "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" on the main PC.
3. The same applies for alphachars in the chat box ("a" and "A")
4. I am able to use keys bound to shift in WoW (for instance I have shift + q bound to chain lightning which works fine)
It's mainly a problem because I have to use the keypad "/" to execute written commands and can't use a case sensitive password. Is this a known problem or have I set something up incorrectly?
Thanks in advance.

sounds like you have Shift on your DNP list.

The only key on my DNP list (on both PC's) is TAB - besides, if that was the problem, then I assume keys bound to "shift + q" wouldn't work either right?

This is a really, really, REALLLLY long-standing issue with Keyclone.
It affects a tiny number of people, for reasons unknown. In my setup, it affects only one of the seven or eight machines I have. I worked with Rob (Keyclone) to see if we could work out what was going on, but we never got to the bottom of it so I just learned to work around it.
My first post on it was August last year, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a fix if I were you :)
As you say, it strangely works for key bindings and since I play WoW (where passwords aren't case-sensitive in any case) it's just not an issue for me in day-to-day use.
It's mainly a problem because I have to use the keypad "/" to execute written commands
I guess you have a non-US, non-UK layout keyboard (German perhaps, where / is shift+7)? I'd never thought about that before, and I can imagine that would be a bit of a pain....

I know my friend has the same issue. Do you know if it's machine related, keyclone related or wow-related?
Regardless I appreciate your reply - nice to know that it's not my setup that's wrong :)

Do you know if it's machine related, keyclone related or wow-related?
It's some combination of machine and Keyclone.
We never made any progress on it at all.
I was using the old "mutlibox" software before I migrated entirely to Keyclone, and that didn't exhibit the same problem at all (it had *other* problems, but not that one!) so I imagine it's something to do with the way Keyclone injects keyup/down events, but I can't imagine why that would differ between machines.
At the time, I was following the "one machine, one WoW" paradigm, and my setup was 1xVista32 (main), 1xVista32 (drone1), 3xXP32 machines (drone2 .. drone4, all separate machines).
No matter what I did, drone2 - an XP machine - would NEVER consistently receive extended keys (those with ctrl/alt/shift). The results were exactly as you describe.
I tried changing from a Vista main to an XP main. I bought a 16 port hub so I no longer had any machines using wireless. I made sure they all had exactly the same OS revisions (patches, etc) installed. I uninstalled Multiplicity as a test to see if that made any difference.
And in the end I gave up :)
Even if I fire up Notepad and literally just lean on the "!" key, I get a seemingly random stream of "111111!!!!1!!111111111!11" (etc) on that machine, whilst all the others receive whatever I typed, so it wasn't specific to WoW.
That's still the case today. If I try to type a smiley on all of my characters at the same time, 90% of the time any drones running on that machine will end up saying "; - 0" or ": - 0" or "; - )".
It's always been a curiosity to me that only Keyclone is affected by this, but so long as the key bindings work it's not an issue for me. I'd sure miss the slash key though - /use hearthstone, /logout, /dance, /ignore, /rude... yeah, I can see how that would be painful!

Related issue here. I have a ! in my password. Doesn't transfer properly to the other pc, turns into a 1. Have to login in 2 steps using mute etc. Annoying. Even more annoying now that I use the authenticator.
Oddly enough it gets passed ok in-game.
Everything else works perfectly, just the ! during login that's broken.

I have a simillar issue since I reinstalled my 2 pcs.
Usually I had space on blacklisted and jump bound to alt+space on my other chars.
I tried the same now and it does not work.
same with other alt + <something> combinations that i use alot.

Still having this problem - is it vista/xp related perhaps?
