First off, I went to the Major League Gaming event here in Orlando where I live and it was pretty interesting. WoW overall didn't have the audience Halo3 pulled in, but definitely held it's own against the other titles at the event. Being a spectator though is definitely not the same as participating. The show is partitioned in a way that attempting to watch the players play at their PC if you want to focus on just 1 person is impossible, having to resort into sitting down/ or standing (not enough chairs) and watching the big screen, which is the equivalent of streaming it in the comfort of your own home. I did get to talk to quite a few of the top end players at the event, they gave me their experiences of playing against me which lead to some interesting convo all on it's own.
I don't see myself going to another one unless they change the layout to accommodate spectators better or I'm actually participating in it, to which I'm trying to find out if I can. I'll let everyone know how that turns out.

As for Multiboxing in 3v3? I suppose I can never say never :)

I usually don't tap into the 3v3 department for Multi-boxing, but after attending the MLG and watching the Tournies - I had to get my fix.
After swapping around multiple specs including triple Resto Shaman to try and feel out what exactly is the best method I went back to my usual layout of 40/0/21. I would say my record or rating at the moment isn't anything close to amazing but it's definitely a start in the right direction. Currently sitting at 1803 rating at the start of Season 4 with 32-9, and that includes all the goofy spec's inbetween.

The greatest thing I noticed is 3v3 is all about counter comping and Triple Ele Shaman layout is very strong against all the current popular specs out there including RMP / RWD / RRD and so on, it is weak though to the crazy comps that don't make it very far. I imagine if I can break through the lower brackets of unusual comps it will be a lot easier to excel. We shall see though!

Gotta confession.

I logged onto mmo-champion and streamed about 3hrs of the tournament live. I was addicited.
Ya it was fun to watch the others play.

But as i was sitting there watching and doing heriocs, and my girlfriend telling me to turn it down, I couldnt look away.

Secretly i wanted to annouce ellay just entered the tournament!

Maybe next time lol

My girlfriend and I met up with an out-of-state coworker of hers for lunch yesterday, and it happened to be at the convention center where MLG was being held. Her coworker's son was competing in the Halo 3 tourney. It looked decent, but as an event, it looked like it fell far short of the summer/winter CPL events of a few years ago with regards to spectators & prizes. I can't believe how many conversations I heard at lunch of players thinking of skipping college to play competitive games. WTF. The gaming community is so fickle as it is, so why seriously derail your future for a major risk that will still be there in 4 years.

problem is,...
they don't allow any 3rd party programs or ANY mods. You would be forced to control through alt + Tab,... and GL with that.
I was very curious about the 3s and to see if it was viable.... my guess is if you find a way to control the burst in RMP or keep the warrior in defensive mode in rwd u might have a chacne at the higher brackets,... but it would be near impossible to live through shatter + wound as 40/0/21 and on top of that drop one of the targets.....

purge spamming the mage and getting a lucky ns cl followed by shocks is the only way i could see a win... but i have yet to even step foot into 3 boxing 3v3s....

Any strats yet ?

No strats yet, I need more games in - it's a bit different than 5's due to lacking a healer.

I want to hear more about this. How did some of the conversations go? Positive, Negative?

All positive, some were hesitant to say the enjoyed playing against me, more so said it was frustrating :) but face to face it's a lot easier to get along and be respectful.
Someone even said they made an appearance in my movies :)

cant wait for 3s strats Ellay!

ive been doing 3s but i keep getting wrecked by non standard comps. but then anything with a warrior in it is usually a cake walk. sadly ive been hovering in the 1400 bracket with vindicators, s3 chest, s2 shoulders/shield, s1 where not listed.

3s is definately doable. I personally haven't played it seriously, but I run about .500 when just doing 10 games for points. I could definately do better. A lot of my loses are from stupid mistakes from lack of experience playing against certain combinations.

3v3 is definitely viable, but youve gotta get the first nuke off, ive played with a few diff combos and from what i have seen miss the nuke at the start and its almost impossible to recover, i played 3s with fire mage, ele shaman and disc priest, and about 75% of the time me and the mage got the nuke off and killed their first guy, leading to a win. hardest groups we had to fight were pally, pally, shaman, and rogue druid pally.

Sorry for the bump, but I can't help to to chime in on this. ><

As somebody who got into the MLG/competitive Halo scene about 5 years ago... I can tell you the face of MLG has changed drastically. It may just be the nostalgia of it, but at my first MLG tournament everybody was there as a gamer.. not as an E-Celebrity signing autographs. As for the dropping out of school bit, you can thank THIS GUY (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSquared). He dropped out of High School to play competitive Halo, while his larger grossing rivals of one of the other top Halo teams are making 5 times as much money and are finishing college. But these kids don't see that. The very last MLG tournament I attended was in Vegas of '06. This was the last in a series of tournaments aired on USA. They hired local kids to sit in the stands to look good for the camera, and all of the regular MLG attendee's had to sit cramped the entire time be a spectator. After the finals, myself and a group of friends tried to get going to beat the traffic, and were stopped by the crew because they "weren't done filming". They physically would not let us by to leave. We were all so furious.

I'm all about competitive gaming, and I've long been active in competitive FPS (both console and PC). There's a point within "E-Sports" where it goes too far. This is somewhere between standing in line to get an autograph and having the players run through a smoke machine and strobe lights to their consoles.
