I'm thinking about starting up a service for peoples alts where I summon them from flight path to flight path so they have them all.

My question is, how much should I charge? I'm thinking I'd provide a discount for multiple people.

Any suggestions? How much would this be worth?

Hmmm... on the one hand, the cute little cartoon snowmen are hilarious... on the other hand, if it's a bad idea, I'd actually like a specific reason. Is it against ToS in some way?

No, but multi-boxers would make far more money/hour doing dailies or simply grinding mobs than whatever people would pay to get summoned.

On top of that, asking payment for a summon is a reason more to get hated, and you'll have plenty of hate already as a boxer.

not rly a problem in game. Just more you will be kicking imaginary monkeys by the end of the week (I guarantee it!) :)

I don't want to put you off this, as in the end it's all about having fun! ^^ But I'll list a few things for arguments sake.

to get this to work, ur alts will ofc have to explore all the flight paths in pre tbc (unless you plan on lvling them past 60 - or want to risk running around in outlands with)

then you have to decide how ur going to do this, HS in shatt? (not sure what lvl you need for that) so you can get to the main cities quickly? or do you do it by flying yourself? (suggestion: make one a mage for portals - again needs lvling :S )

deciding a price, well this isn't that trivial.. do you want it to be a price that will insure you a certain amount of income or is it just for kicks? (150g/hour?)

then publicity: is this word of mouth? or are you going to be offering this in trade? (warning - you might get spam reports)

people not paying you or wanting a discount! you would need to meet with one of you toons first in order to secure payment.

If you are successful you will need to farm shietloads of shards!! (ppl will waste them too by not accepting the summons and say they weren't ready - also ppl wasting your time)

again if ppl find out about you and you are very successful, you wont be able to use those characters properly :S (/w madness!)

and of course ppl loling at you :S never nice

soz my brain was running away with ideas :S

Well... this idea came around when I was speaking with a friend of mine about it. I figured it would be a good way to add income on top of doing dailies, but without having to do tons of work. The main goal is that I can do this while doing other stuff in flight: IE: practice guitar, watch tv, read.

As far as payment, I'm really uncertain about the price. I was thinking along the lines of: X gold paid up front of all flight paths, or X gold per flight path paid upon arrival before we progress to the next one. If someone isn't willing to pay up front I would charge additional for each transaction. IE: (hypothetical numbers): 250 gold for 25 FPs. If someone doesn't want to shell out 250 gold up front, it would be 12 gold per arrival before we progress to the next one.

I plan on obtaining all the old world FPs with my group as I level anyway, because I like to spend a lot of time responding to world D.

As far as shards, I've never had a whole lot of difficulty in obtaining them, and I could get them while I do my dailies for the most part.

Ideally, I'd like to do a group of people and the more people I get the more money I'd make per trip. so I'd give like a 10% discount for each additional person, up to an amount of people that won't result in my running out of shards. Alternatively, I could ensure that the halfway point is somewhere with a bank, and I could just restock my shards there.

I'm not too concerned about the hate. I wouldn't advertise in the trade channel, I'd probably do it on the forums. And as far as the existing level of hate we get, well, I just ignore it. I'd never ask payment for 1 summon, but the fact that I'd be providing someone with every flight path so they could greatly increase their leveling speed seeems like a valid reason to make some gold off it.

I guess my biggest reason though is it's a fairly laid back way to make gold. Fly, summon, fly, summon, fly, summon.

I'm not saying this is everyone, but me personally, I get all the FP's I need from just running around doing quests. This would require quite a bit of set-up for tbh a service that's not really high in demand. I hate to be negative but I don't really see this working out too well for you in the end.

If you're looking for something easy and cheap you could make a mage team to port people around to w/e capital city they need. I use to charge 3-5g everytime someone asked me and they were always willing to pay. If you still want to do the warlock thing you could offer to summon people from anywhere to a capital city, for instance that run for NE's to the human starting area is a beast or from the human area to the draenei starting area is a PITA as well.

Again I hate to be a downer but I'm not sure that you would get enough business in the end to really make this worth the effort to put into it.

I summoned people into major cities with my 3 70 locks during the summer festival. i made mint, people paid 5g a piece to my shaman in Shatt standing next to the quest guy, and then I summoned them to silvermoon or org or TB whatever, and they got their 25g for flame or whatever.

was great =)

i know this is useless now, but maybe theres a similar situation available these days.

No offense to the OP, but the snowman picture made me spit coffee everywhere. 8o

if making gold is your intention then dailies/quests/old instances is way better. Keep in mind that once in a while you'll have to go out and collect shards as well.. bit of a waste to level a team just to be sitting somwhere IMO.

This will make you some gold for about a day, then every lock on the server with nothing better to do will start competing with you. You would make more money camping certain NPCs and buying their rare spawn items to resell on the AH than you would doing this. It's been done, if it were a solid money maker all the gold leveling guides would have it in there - pre_BC there were many "taxi" services, for a variety of reasons. One guy on my server tried to set up an hourly "taxi" to Scarlet Monestary for Alliance without mounts. He lasted a couple of days.

Older players won't use you, because of the trick that's been around since the start of the game, where locks would summon people to the edge of cliffs or over the lava in Ironforge. It's funny, but it's been done a gazillion times, so people are going to be suspicious.

If you're not making at least 100g/hour, it's not worth your time, really.

I'm not against the idea, supply and demand, if there is a demand for it then go for it!

This leads me to story when I was leveling my warlocks.

I pewpewed a guy 9 levels above me in STV and he got his level 70 friends...but what they didnt expect was I started to summon all mine in..which ended up me summoning a full 20 man raid within a few mins, needless to say, the alliance ran with their tails between their legs.

for Alliance, you can try selling summons to SM. I have a noob Warlock full of shards and 2 L1 alts parked there for my own use, and I have sold a few summons for 5-10g each before.
Since it's something you could advertise while doing your AH work and such in town if you don't need all your accounts logged in on your 70's, basically it is free money right?

I would pay 10g to get a summon to Kargath for 2 of my alts when they hit 40.

But then, after I get 2 guys are there, I will just use the summon stone outside Uldaman for the rest of my team to get summons.

I know shamans would want 1k needles, camp tuajuaro, bracken, ratchet, sepulcher and tarren mills to do their totem quest. It sucked bad running all over the place, so I waited to complete them at level 40 :)

I've considered rolling 5 locks, getting them to ?20? for the summon and then parking them in Shat but just for personal use with future alts.

With 5 locks you can just run around outlands and dot everything and make more money :S

I suppose if someone is making a twink and needs to get level 10 quickly you could summon them and get discovery exp
