View Full Version : My Jhuudhun's (Duplicate pet name)

I've already explained it all a few times, so I'll copy-paste from the source:

Hey all, if you don't recognize me it's Velath, the multiboxing pally.

I just ran into an interesting conundrum. As you all know, multiboxers make great use of /assist macros to play the game. I just dinged 60 on my 5 warlocks (yay me) and decided to respec a few of them to Demonology.

My "main" warlock (who has always been demonology) ended up with the name Jhuudhun. Jhuudhun is a hardworking felguard, and has always been my "main assist" for my other demon pets (after all, he is the tank).

Well, imagine my horror when my warlock, Vyndrii, ended up with a felguard.... named Jhuudhun.

Now I'm not sure if my macros will even work. I use alot of macros that /target Jhuudhun specifically -- for example, on my "send Jhuudhun in to attack" button, my imp does the following:
/target Jhuudhun
/cast Fire Shield

Which Jhuudhun will he now buff?

Is there any way I can possibly get a name update for Vyndrii's felguard? Just something unique since this group will ALWAYS be partied together and makes a strong use of /target macros that are going to be all confused when there are TWO Jhuudhuns running around? I know name changes on warlock pets are not typically done, but I'm in a particularly frustrating scenario since I know I will be making strong use of /target macros, and will ALWAYS be grouped with another Jhuudhun.

<begin girl moment>... on an off-topic note, my 3rd felguard is named "Shaadhun" and my fourth warlock's felpuppy is named "Ghaadhun". Jhuudhun, Ghaadhun, and Shaadhun make cute matching names. </end girl moment>

Thanks in advance -- I know this is a long shot request, but I'm crossing my fingers anyway.

Basically, I had one demo/4 aff locks -- I respecced a few more felguard locks and ended up having TWO felguards named "Jhuudhun". I knew that changing pet names wasn't typical, but I had to try because one of the "Jhuudhuns" was my "main"s felguard, and I used alot of macros that had "/target Jhuudhun" somewhere in there.

This is the result:

[07/12/08]

16:30 [Enthati]: Greetings, Vyndrii! This is Game Master Enthati. =) How are you doing today?
16:30 [Vyndrii]: very well thank you :) Dinged 60 last night
16:31 [Enthati]: Marvelous! I've been informed of your little... dilemma. Do you have a moment to discuss it?
16:31 [Vyndrii]: absolutely -- is it ok if we discuss through Vyndryy? it's a bit harder to type on this computer
16:32 [Enthati]: It would be preferred if we could speak regarding this issue on the character that it effects in order to allow us to track everything. =) Is that alright?
16:32 [Vyndrii]: that's alright, I'll manage then :)
16:32 [Enthati]: Hehe. I hope it's not too much trouble!
16:32 [Vyndrii]: it's OK. I'll just stand still while we talk and hope no horde see me hiding in the trees
16:33 [Vyndrii]: there, now I'm soulstoned and good to gank. :)
16:33 [Enthati]: Okay, so here's the deal. We have a bit of our own conundrum regarding this matter. Due to the nature of a Warlock's pet (and most specifically the name) there are restrictions in place to prevent anything strange from occurring with...
16:34 [Enthati]: ...the name. We have a few options to try, however. The first is that we can simply rename it to "Felguard", or I can try a few things to see if we can get you a new name for it. Unfortunately, I'm unable to guarantee anything...
16:35 [Enthati]: ... in regards to a new name being generated for you. Sorry for the long statement. >.>
16:35 [Vyndrii]: hmm, well first I'd just like to say thank you SO MUCH for looking into the matter -- I understand it's not a typical request and I understand that under normal solo-boxing circumstances name changes are not allowed
16:35 [Enthati]: Also, we generally do not offer a service of this form; however, due to mitigating circumstances we are willing to see what we can do for you. =)
16:36 [Enthati]: And you're very welcome. ^_^
16:36 [Vyndrii]: that being said, having a duplicate felguard name somewhat impacts my non-standard playstyle in that I can't tell what my macros are going to do with two duplicate felguards... normally I'd try to work around it, but Vyndryy is my "main" and therefore...
16:36 [Vyndrii]: her felguard's name is "most important" in the way of macros for assisting and buffing and debuffing and whatnot
16:36 [Enthati]: Aye. Just so that you don't have to type out the issue again; we're aware of the situation. ;)
16:36 [Vyndrii]: so in this ONE case I will be ok with having a felguard named "Felguard" if that's what I have to do to get workable macros :)
16:37 [Enthati]: So you would be okay with just it being "Felguard"? It's kind of an obvious name... >.>
16:38 [Vyndrii]: Well, all I really care is that Vyndryy's felguard name is unique so that my macros can target it appropriately
16:38 [Vyndrii]: if "felguard" is a name no other warlocks will have, can Vyndryy's pet get the name change? Or only this new felguard? That way there is zero chance of me having to ticket again if say.. Vyndre or Vyndrie even end up with a pet named "Jhuudhun"
16:39 [Vyndrii]: sorry if I'm over complicating the matter >.<
16:39 [Enthati]: Ah. That's a very good point. And, it's fine.
16:40 [Vyndrii]: wewt, well... I will cross my fingers and hope the namechange works... If not, Vyndree's Felguard will have a lovely name "Felguard" which no other warlocks will have
16:40 [Vyndrii]: I'm sorry, Vyndryy. :P I confuse my own characters
16:40 [Enthati]: Well, I see no harm in changing the other character's pet's name. All of your accounts are registered to you, correct? Just have to make sure nothing is amiss is all.
16:40 [Vyndrii]: correct -- they should all have identical info as well and I can wait for you to check
16:41 [Enthati]: Okay. Just to be very clear; would you like me to try to change the name of the pet of "Vyndryy" or would you like me to change it to simply "Felguard"?
16:42 [Vyndrii]: Why don't we just change it to "Felguard" so that I know I won't have to ever ticket you again for this rather unlucky event. :)
16:42 [Enthati]: If we're going to try to change the name of Vyndryy's pet, I'll need to ask you to logout of the character for a little bit. ^_^
16:42 [Enthati]: Haha. Okay. ;)
16:42 [Enthati]: One moment, please.
16:42 [Vyndrii]: that's fine. Do you have a moment to wait for me to run to the inn?
16:43 [Enthati]: Ah. If i'm just changing it to "Felguard" it's not that big of a deal. Should just require a logout/login.
16:43 [Vyndrii]: oh, ok. :)

Vyndree
07-12-2008, 08:45 PM
16:43 [Vyndrii]: I am logging her out then
16:43 [Enthati]: Just to be certain I'm changing the right thing. What was the account name of the account Vyndryy is on? And it's on the realm Archimonde, correct?
16:44 [Vyndrii]: The account name is "*****" (I thought you guys were supposed to never ask for this? ;)) and the realm is indeed Archimonde, character Vyndryy and the old felguard is named "Jhuudhun"
16:45 [Vyndrii]: with identical contact info to this account :)
16:45 [Enthati]: Account names in a one on one conversation isn't a big deal. ;) I just wanted to make sure that it was the appropriate character.
16:45 [Enthati]: Since you have your multi-character naming convention. ;)
16:45 [Vyndrii]: hehe I know, I see the Blizz icon next to your name so I trust you. :) I like to have my patterned names as well
16:45 [Enthati]: And it's the Felguard named "Jhuudhun", correct?
16:45 [Vyndrii]: my shammy/pally group is all Vela-something and my priest/warlock group is Vyndr-something
16:46 [Vyndrii]: correct
16:46 [Enthati]: Okie dokie. Please give me a few moments, and I'll get back to you when it's done.
16:46 [Vyndrii]: ok, thank you SO much. :)
16:49 [Enthati]: Alright. Would you mind going on Vyndryy again and letting me know if that worked?
16:50 [Vyndrii]: okie dokie :)
16:51 [Vyndrii]: yepyep! He's got the lovely name "Felguard"! :)
16:51 [Enthati]: Hehe. At least you know that your pet is honest about what he is. ;)
16:51 [Vyndrii]: thank you tremendously! :) I was so worried I'd have to think up a whole new macro scheme
16:51 [Vyndrii]: absolutely, and if I ever end up xfering to a RP realm I'll have to make up an interesting story about him
16:52 [Vyndrii]: perhaps he has an identity crisis
16:52 [Vyndrii]: or amnesia
16:52 [Enthati]: You are most certainly welcome. I must just reiterate that this is a very rare circumstance and is not to be expected in the future, but I'm sure you're aware of that. ;)
16:52 [Enthati]: I like the identity crisis gig. =)
16:53 [Vyndrii]: absolutely, I knew that the moment I ticketed and that's why "Felguard" was more appropriate... I still have two locks who have no clue what their felguards names are
16:53 [Vyndrii]: so "Felguard" is better safe than sorry
16:53 [Enthati]: True.
16:53 [Vyndrii]: thank you thank you thank you. You have saved my 10 billion macros :)
16:53 [Vyndrii]: hooray!
16:53 [Enthati]: o.O That's a lot of macros.
16:53 [Vyndrii]: yes, I end up having to use some 3rd party UI mods to fit them all ;)
16:54 [Enthati]: Hehe. ^_^ Well, I'm glad that I was able to help you out with this matter, Vyndrii. Was there anything else I can address for you while I'm here?
16:55 [Vyndrii]: Well, I'd imagine you're not allowed to give me your mailing address so that I can send you thankyou gifts, so I suppose the GM Feedback e-mail would be nice so that I can send your managers a very long mail about how amazing you and Reythur have been
16:55 [Vyndrii]: with my felguard name crisis
16:56 [Enthati]: Hehe. ^_^ That'd be WoWGMFeedback-US@Blizzard.com. And unfortunately no, we're not allowed to give out our mailing address; but I do thank you kindly for the offer. =)
16:56 [Vyndrii]: *hugs* Well, I send you virtual cake then
16:56 [Enthati]: !
16:56 [Enthati]: Cake!
16:56 [Vyndrii]: mmm, everyone loves cake.
16:59 [Vyndrii]: well, in any case, I very much owe you guys for helping me out with my macros and everything. <3
16:59 [Enthati]: You don't owe us anything; we're happy to help. =)
17:00 [Vyndrii]: aww <3
17:00 [Enthati]: Well, I should really be on my way to help out other folks. I hope that you have a wonderful evening with your newly named Felguard. ;)
17:00 [Vyndrii]: absolutely, have happy ban hammers, item restorations, afk reports, and all such things
17:00 [Vyndrii]: don't work too hard on a weekend :D
17:01 [Enthati]: I'll try not to. ;)
17:01 [Enthati]: Take care and farewell!
17:01 [Vyndrii]: you too!

In finality -- I now have a felguard named "Felguard". :) Feel free to oogle at him next week at our community Hogger raid.

I'd actually like to have a pet named "Felguard", it's unique which is cool ;D

I got a character named something weird aswell, pretty odd actually .. let me explain. I had a low level character - warrior - named Creazil, unfortunatly I didn't want to play that anymore, but I'd like the name on another character - I wanted to make a new warrior with the name Creazil. Therefore I deleted the warrior named Creazil and made a warrior named Creazil. Before I logged the newly made warrior I went to my main, to send bags and gold, but somehow they never showed up .. the warrior never received the mail. I was totally confused, my first thought was that I by mistake send them to someone else, but I didn't really believe that. Therefore I ticketed a GM, which said that the deleted warrior received the mails, but that was very odd .. because that character was deleted before I send the gold and bags. He said he would make me a new character on my account named CreazilMAIL, which would like be a "duplicate" of the deleted warrior and I would then be able to forward it to my warrior. Everything worked and I was pretty excited by the name with the capitals, sadly the GM said that it would be deleted after I had send the gold and bags. Never happened and the warrior is still on my account - named CreazilMAIL.

Armory link to the warrior :)

One day I might get a whisper by a GM, telling me to rename it .. but whatever.

Won't have a non-standard felguard name be just a bit obvious/odd to players in general? No felguard is ever named Felguard..lol

I hate to bring it up, what with the QQ and all, but we are their best customers. Also, we're almost always cool to them and I think they look forward to dealing with us, as opposed to the unwashed masses.

My felguard's name is ?.

It was just <blank> but someone reported me and now all my pets' names are just ?. So meet my imp, ? (formerly known as Abauri), and my felhunter, ? (formerly known as Jhaafun), and so on and so forth. I'll try to find some screenshots.

I wasn't specced for felguard when I logged on, so here's the first pet summon I found in my book of spells.

I saw the customer service forum post and was too late to provide aide but there was a temp solution. If your group is always the same you could have used [target=party1pet] . The same goes for raids now also [target=raid1pet] . I think that is the correct raid syntax. Just substitute the correct # for the party/raid member you wish to target.

Anywho, glad to see it resolved in a timely fashion.

Oh of course. But individually, we're more to them than the average person. They're looking at as retaining a better-than-average customer.

5 Warlocks huh? Is this a full PvP group like my 5 hunter group?

It was originally 4 warlocks and a priest, but I used the locks when I was learning how to powerleveling in SM Cath and they vastly overshot their priest. (went from level 20-40 in SM Cath)

I remembered that I already had a level 40ish warlock, and figured leveling 5 warlocks would be easier than 4 warlocks + Peapod (the gnome warrior from a few of my earlier videos). I have a 70 priest, so I may try 6-boxing once these guys hit 70. We'll see.
