View Full Version : Totem macro for PvP

I've just started playing battlegrounds with my five shamans, and was thinking about the ideal totem dropping macro. Just thought I'd post my thoughts here to see if anyone else has any ideas.

I've created castsequence macros on each shaman as follows:

Totha: Stoneskin, Healing Stream, Grounding, Searing
Tothe: Tremor, Healing Stream, Grounding, Searing
Tothi: Wrath of Air, Tremor, Healing Stream, Searing
Totho: Grounding, Healing Stream, Tremor, Searing
Tothu: Grounding, Healing Stream, Searing, Tremor

My reasoning behind this:

1. Wrath of Air has to go down before Healing Stream, to boost the healing effect
2. Tremors need to be dropped in a staggered manner, to minimise fear durations. Four drops one second apart covers it perfectly.
3. Searing has the shortest duration, so it should go down last.
4. Five Healing Streams instead of four plus Mana Spring. I don't expect fights to last long enough for mana to be an issue.

Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions?

Its not bad... you might consider switching out a Searing totem for a Magma totem for rogues. And i believe that even if wrath of air is cast after healing stream your Heals will still go up after its placed. havent tested this but i'm pretty sure it would.

I have the following set up at 60:

Main totem castsequence (I use this one most of the time):
P1(first keypress): 5x ToWrath (almost always)
P2: 4x heal/1x mana (for longer fights or when I'm gonna need to drink) P3: stoneskin/tremor/strength/earthbind/earthbind (boss fights or sitting to drink)Kiting macro = Round-robin earthbind

Anti-caster macro = 5x grounding

Fire totem macro = (nomodifier) 5x fire nova; (modifier:shift) 5x searing (note that I rarely ever use searing totems as I'd rather have wrath down.

That's pretty much it. I'll tweak here and there but usually I'm not bothering with dropping that many totems anyway. I'm sure it'll change some when I hit 70.

In a bit Ill post my layout for my PVP, I do however use Mana totems, but I think Healing sounds better.

It doesn't change until you place a new one. In PVE, I routinely put on +healing gear, lay down the totems, then switch to dps gear and start the fight. I use the closetgnome addon to hotkey different sets of gear to accomplish this.

Also, here is a page on wowwiki that has it also http://www.wowwiki.com/Healing_Stream_Totem

The amount for which this totem heals is dependent on your current bonus healing amount at the time that the totem is placed. As such you may use Wrath of Air Totem ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Wrath_of_Air_Totem')/healing trinkets just prior to placing the totem for maximum effect.
