I thought I'd go to SV as there's some nice plate gear there but couldn't get passed the first bog lord, 4 wipes >.< - and now I'm just sitting here nonplussed. My pally gear is ok and he was able to take the punishment, no probs with aggro as I have the S2 Gavel, it was the friggin mages and priest : not enough dps and not enough heals.

It really highlighted to me the need to get some decent gear for them but damn, the only way to get decent gear is tailoringx4. Do any of you guys go the tailoring route on all your clothies? I've already levelled tailoring to 375 twice on other chars (not part of the team) and am not sure I can go through the pain again.
Here's my armory link for the guild: box team members start with A. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Bog Lords in the Steam Vaults are very hard to heal with a Priest. Mostly due to the Poison DOT that ticks hard. A Druid healer has a much easier time there. However, as you said you have some serious gear issues on your clothies so why not do the easier lvl70 instances first to get some good cloth drops Shadow Labyrinth and the Mechanar come to mind as places to find good cloth drops through a lot easier fights in my opinion.

Also your talentspecs aren't really optimized for pve. For instance Circle of Healing without Mental Agility is a waste of mana. For instance Arcane tree has some very good mana saving talents which should be taken in order to increase longevity for the damage. Also you don't have all the dps increasing talents from the Fire tree either.

This is a personal opinion, but if you want PoM pyro, I'd spec the mages like this http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oi0qb0fzZxgMzfcs0xRx This should increase the damage you can eek out of them by a lot. Since you are not using precious talent points in the pvp only talents like impact and improved Fire Blast.

Is there anything you can do to help make it easier? Just theorycrafting....
Do they do any magic damage? If not, might try amp magic to raise healing.
Can your pally do seal of light and judge it? Sure it only helps him, but every bit of healing helps. Especially if you already have enough aggro.
Any chance at a potion (alchemy)? Maybe a armor pot or a health regen pot might help.
If you really have too much aggro and time, can you throw a flash of light on your self? It doesn't help much with aggro (since I think pally heals are cheap on aggro), but it would help your healer out.
I am not sure how to get more DPS out of a mage, sorry. Other than just making macros not waste time. (anytime the mages aren't casting is wasted time)

I don't know much about gear, but it doesn't seem that the priest is too bad off. Maybe it is spells? Is he running out of mana or just big enough heals? Are the mages running out of mana or is the mob just not dying fast enough? I go to lasting and defense, so I would want a team that might not kill the fastest, but they could last a year if I wanted them to. Maybe if you just watch what is going on, you might see something. Maybe put a shield on the tank, then a renew, he should be good for a while, so you can get out of 5 sec to regen mana. Maybe you can judge wisdom on the mob, so casters can get back mana and just seal the pally with light so he gets back health and mana. The more mana he has and if he has aggro, he can help heal (like off healing).

{Edit: I forgot to add my non-boxed priest so you can laugh at him (gear and talents) http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Garona&n=Electhmpst }

Thanks for the thoughtful replies :) when I specced the talents (pom/pyro) I had ideas of taking my team to arena, but that's not going to happen lol. I don't have probs with mana (gems, pots, evocation), but do need more spell power so I've gone a totally insane fire build 0/54/7 ;( I have an ally mage whose been fire and frost and is now totally frost. I remember he used to top the damage meters pre tbc. So frost might be worth a look as well or maybe an elementalist build. Anyway, I'll give the fire build a go for a week or so. Thanks for the comment on the priest and I think this is my biggest downfall, I have no idea how to play a priest and all I use is heal, renew (when i remember), greater heal, circle of healing and holy nova. I don't have issues with mana though but do need more heals, I'll check the talents out and maybe it's a wep upgrade or enchants for the short term as well. Good idea with the amplify magic, for some reason I stopped using it :pinch: I regularly use wisdom and light, the pally itself is ok with threat and survivability, it's just getting worn down on slow hitters (typical). The biggest prob is I'm getting ahead of myself, SV is pretty hard at this gear level so I'm going to farm some slightly easier instances for gear as suggested. Thanks for your help :)
Edit: maybe I could spec 1 frost, 2 fire - that would be interesting...

Go to this link (http://www.wow-loot.com/priest.htm ) and use it to find upgrades for your priest through quests, mid-level dungeon drops or AH/craftable stuff. I have Mooncloth spec on both of my priests and it's a quick way to get started on a solid healing set without setting foot in a 70 instance. You probably could do the same for your mages (Spellcloth) but certainly check out the website for them as well.

For 60+ instances, gear becomes vitally important. Don't be afraid to farm a mid-60s boss a few times to get a good drop. Greens simply don't leave much margin for error.

One other thing, Prayer of Mending should be your BFF. Seriously, it's a terrific spell for all occasions and is relatively mana-cheap. I use shield + PoM as often as possible and it saves a great deal of headache with patch healing or aggro management.

Mostly due to the Poison DOT that ticks hard. A Druid healer has a much easier time there.

The paladin tank can remove this from himself and the party.
