I was watching a video of a mage aoe grinding and it hit me, I totally over looked the fact that mages can easily pull 4-5 adds at a time, and aoe them down. Would multi-boxing 3 mages be incredible aoe ownage? If so I would love to roll 3 mages and do more instance/aoe grinding over quests since I'm having trouble with all my quests being gather :( And also, whats the best horde and alliance mage race?

20 views and no replies! :( Also would it make sense to throw in a tankadin and take out a mage? To hold some nice aggro to make aoe grinding easier? Or would he not be able to hold the aggro? Thanks!

I run a priest and 4 mages at the moment. I think a paladin would work a lot better as a leader. With the priest at 70 and the mages at 62 they could roll through normal ramparts easily just speed ae'ing the clusters down (arcane explosion w/ priest doing holy nova). Biggest problem with mages is with the latest patches I can't macro flamestrike like I back in the old days. There is a thread in the macro section though where a guy had one of the programs set up so that he could still use it. I still think shamans are more viable but mages are definitely fun :) My mages are alliance gnomes with a dwarf priest leading :D

Paladin to aoe tank priest to aoe heal (lol holy nova - you man need to heal properly in heroics) and 3 mages for aoe dps and you are set :) also screw flamestrike, blastwave/ae is where its at

Why yes, yes it is incredible AoE farming ownage. Most instances I ran before outlands with my pally+4mage group was basically run in, consecrate, AoE spam the shit out of everything in sight. Only thing capping pull size was how much beating my pally could take. It was awesome.

So what would you guys recommend for a 3 boxer?

You'll probably have to go frost if you want to do any instance stuff at all. With only 3, you just won't have the gear to survive past BRD as fire/arcane, IMO. Just too squishy w/o a healer/tank. For races, horde = undead and alliance = human, assuming a PVP server. On PVE, doesn't really matter.

But would you say 3 mages is the best combo? Or should I got 2 Mages and 1 other class? Or 3 locks?

Please review the community rules ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=14540#post14540').
Please wait a reasonable amount of time before bumping posts, we understand due to popularity of the forum this needs to be done, we recommend a min of 6 hours before bumping support threats and 12 hours for everything else.
Bumping threads before even an hour has passed is a bit excessive. Many people might be interested in your thread -- by the subject title you could actually be getting people who are looking for advice on how to level mages using aoe. They didn't know you were actually asking a question. So be kind, don't bump too quickly.
Keep in mind that we have members all over the globe, so half the community might just be asleep and will get to your post in the morning.
That being said, Suvega does multibox mages and there's a great mage guide on the wiki ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki') -- check under "guides"

So what would you guys recommend for a 3 boxer?
single target frost crit madness ('http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/mage/talents.html?tal=240005031023212033012000000000000 0000000000000505320010205011020000') or AoE fire burstage ('http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/mage/talents.html?tal=240005031023212033012000532020121 2303102000000000000000000000000000')
the second spec can be changed to a quite viable raid spec ('http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/mage/talents.html?tal=240005031023212033012005052000121 2303102000000000000000000000000000') too
U'll notice the fact that all the spec I've listed have 1 or 2 points in winters chill or Imp scorch.. U don't need more! if you have 3 or more mages one of them will be applying it once every few seconds anyway :)

Need to worry about taking damage and healing. I'd prefer to going with the easier AoE/prot-spec paladin & 2x AoE mages. Paladin will hold aggro easily once you get consecrate, plus you get BoW buff for your mages. When I was dual-boxing, the Paladin/Mage was my favorite combo for this reason, and two mages would have just been that much faster.
For race, I'd go with undead on Horde, or gnome(+int)/human(+spirit) on Alliance. I hate playing gnomes, but I can see how they could be easier to play due to their small size not interfering with mouse-overs. Tauren are a pain in the ass in this respect.
For paladin races, obviously blood elf is your only choice on Horde, but I'd go human(+spirit, +mace/sword expertise) over dwarf(stoneskin) on alliance.

Thanks silencer, that was the kind of answer I was looking for! :) Now I need to figure out what Im gunna do faction wise :( I don't have BC on any of my accounts atm, which is making alliance look like a good choice, especially since I have played alliance way way more than horde! I guess I have a decision to make :) Thanks!

It looks like you've made your decision, but I'll still throw out there that I'd recommend 3 shaman (well, actually I recommend 5, but I'll assume your fixed on 3 toons).
I just think the synergy of multiple shaman is too good to pass up for your first multibox team, but that's just an opinion for you to chew on. :)

Having exhausted the limits of what is doable with a Preist & 4 Mage team if I could go back 18 months I'd pick Shaman. Once I hit the Outlands the over all experience went downhill as my team was just way too squishy. Granted a paladin makes it a bit more viable, but even then you're relying on your main to be tank & healer. Arenas being what they are today I don't even bother. My team has been reduced to grinding dailies to give away epic flying mounts to friends and feed my prot warrior.
