So I took the plunge and made 4 warlocks:
1. Wahid
2. Ithnain
3. Thalatha
4. Arbaa
I'm going full affliction here. While I'm only up to level 18 now, I have a few pointers for casters .
Probably the two most important things you can buy for your new characters are:
1. bags. Tons of bag space is important, because the longer you can stay out the more time you can spend doing xp.
2. wands. Early on, wands are a fair % as strong as a spell itself. They cost no mana and you can get them as early as level 5. With 4 guys using wands, I can toss 4 dots and wand things to death. That lets me go without mana going down at all.
Warlocks in particular and why I chose them. Well, they're easy. By level 14 you have 2 instant dots and a pet that taunts. Occasionally I've had a mob run off and pull back 6 or 7 mobs. I just get void walker on each one in turn throw a set of curses on each one and fear at random. As long as the damage is spread around I've handled 7-8 mobs 1-3 levels above me at once.
My personal goal is PvP. I want to hit Alterac Valley and toss seed of corruption and volleys of dots all over the place. I'm vaguely thinking of what 4 felguards would do and I might try that pending some gear acquisition.
If I had a 5th. Personally, I think a druid would be the perfect 5th to keep regens going for life taps and do emergency healing, also to stay stealthed until the fight breaks out. I happen to have a priest 70 though, and I'm thinking of just going for broke and adding him as a shadow priest. A little mind flay would be nasty.
I've already had some world PvP where a warrior or two thought being 10 levels above me made him safe. He one shotted two of my guys but it was all over by then as he had 10 dots going on him.
In short, it's been a blast so far. I'm about to hit 20 and I've got a buddy on his warrior to boost me to 40 without leaving Scarlet Monastery, so things are looking good.
