Back in the day one use to be able to swap trinkets in on the fly...and use of dmg trinkets use to stack. o.O

I havent tested this in arena, but I imagine it will still work. Arena doesnt allow one to change gear after the fight changes and this may also lock down relics.

I think this is wiki - worthy and I am surprised I haven't read about it anywhere else. I actually found this on arenajunkies.com.

Macro Form
/equip Name of Relic (Beneficial to the casting Spell)
/cast Spell

Example
Macro 1
/equip Totem of the Void
/cast Lightning Bolt

Macro 2
/equip Vengeful gladiators totem of the third wind
/cast Lesser Healing Wave

Macro 3
/equip Vengeful gladiators totem of Survival
/cast Earth Shock

This allows one to switch in the appropiate relic DURING combat and recieve the benefit to that spell! I think it PWNS face. Please /feedback :)

I guess it's not 'boxing specifc, more just something that Shaman (and I'm guessing Palas and Druids) do. So not what normally goes into the wiki.

But it's a good tip yeah for folks unfamiliar with the class. :)

This just gave me an idea (don't ask me why)

/assist focus
/cast Chain Lightning
/say sorry for your death

hehe....just got my chain lightning yesterday so it is on my mind right now. :)

This wont be very effective now-a-days. They have a 15-30 second cooldown when you equip a trinket. And if you are already in combat the only thing you can switch are weapons/shields and i'm not sure about Totems.

WHOOPS!! just re-read the post... you said Totems and Relics.... my bad.. i could have sworn i read Trinkeys.

Sorry for the confusion

Keep in mind there's news on the PTR that equipping items will now interrupt your spell casts. ;)

But yes, right now I use the exact same macro style to swap out totems based on what I'm casting. ;)

Does switching totems trigger a GCD?

I know it does for druids, thus not being very usefull imo.

Yes, it triggers GCD.

However, your spells being cast take at least 1.5s to cast, so:

1. Begin casting
2. Swap totem
3. Finish cast

Hence, no time wasted.

Wouldn't work for shocks then.
