Not quite true that it is 20 bucks for life....it is 20 bucks PER PC

I think the point is, people come here wanting to multibox which gives the tacit understanding that they are quite ok with paying at least $30 a month for WoW and have spent enough on the appropriate hardware to do so but then they come out and ask for free software or a pirate version of keyclone, implying that a one off cost of $20 is too much for them.

This dichotomy immeadiately leads one to question how serious they are about multiboxing (or able to fund it) and thus follow questions about why they are too cheap to pay a low fee.

I'd ask the same thing if roles were reversed and HKN or AHK (etc) for charged for and people were asking where to get them for free, and I think everyone else would to.

If people came here and said "Hey all, have looked at a few options and <insert software> looks good for these reasons <insert reasons/functions> but I'm wondering what other options there may be and if they are free" then I'm certain they would get a much different response.

I didn't go with keyclone at the beginning cause I was under the assumption it was all done through paypal and /meh at the hassle. If you could use a credit card I would. Hell I'd even donate to this wonderful site if they accepted credit cards :p

Indeed.

There's a notion that this forum is a warm and fluffy place where posters can do no wrong. A notion that I believe to be entirely incorrect.

I don't know where that comes from, especially since the instructions for posting here clearly demand that the poster read the Wiki and guides first, but if it's enshrined in Forum Law then I suggest an update to our Rules.

Lazy people deserve to be "zinged", otherwise it just sets a precedent.

So far as the free software argument goes, it's worth remembering that not everybody pays for their own subscriptions, hardware, etc. Those people may have found it relatively easy to persuade (say) Mum and Dad to pay for their subscription, but might have more of a problem explaining why they need another $20.

Yes, I know... it's a tenuous argument, but it's there and it's never a bad thing to want something for free.

I could barely contain myself when KC first posted on these forums, saying that his software had to be paid for, when there were (to my mind at the time) perfectly adequate free alternatives available... and now I have... erm... 6 licenses, I think.

Paypal accepts credit card transactions. You don't even need a Paypal account to use it.

Really no hassle at all.

Community Guidelines - Read Before Posting ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=14540')

Be Nice (Includes you wilbur ) be nice to each other and respect the authority of Moderators and specialist staff.

This rule is PARTICULARLY important in the newbie forum.

Draku -- re-read my post and tell me who I'm yelling at. You? Or you AND zzyzxx71? I don't care if you THINK you were defending the newbie poster -- you "joined in" with the trash talk, and that is not appropriate. If you want language to be handled, there's a nice little yellow "report" feature at the bottom of every post. Report it, and the mods will deal with it.

The newbie forum is NOT for name-calling. From EITHER OF YOU. If this were mis-posted in the general forum, the software forum, whatever I would be more lenient. But this is the newbie forum. NEW PEOPLE COME HERE TO LEARN. NOT to be mocked.

I don't care if a newbie posts in the newbie forum about wanting santa claus to come deliver a homemade multiboxing rig complete with 5 70's and full macros. If you can't say something nice then don't say it at all. If you want to help, then help. If you want to throw names at each other, take it to the off topic forums.

LBessy, I apologize for derailing your thread.

Clearly! Your point is? Do you think I care that you don't care? You are getting quite close to harrassing me I would say. I really don't think it was necessary for you to swear at my post....but hey.....enjoy yourself!

Draku, I think you need some time to cool down. For some reason you're turning everything I say, regardless of content, into a personal attack at you and only you. Need I go back to the PM conversation we've had already?

Take some time to rethink your manners, revisit the forum rules ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Board&boardID=31'), particularly the bit I will link to you, AGAIN, and maybe think twice before you continue attacking folks in the newbie forum.

Be Nice (Includes you wilbur ) be nice to each other and respect the authority of Moderators and specialist staff.

It's never smart to attack a moderator. I'm just doing my job. You swore, other people swore, EVERYONE who swore was reprimanded. You're continuing to argue after being warned. I've been as lenient as I can be.

Please take some time to think about your actions, reactions, and the consequences. I'll welcome you back with open arms when you're ready to behave.

I started looking into MB'ing a couple of weeks ago and noticed a lot of people love Keyclone, but also a few people seem to be insulted if you don't want to buy a bunch of copies of it before even testing the water.

It's a shame there's no way (or at least plans?) to make a 10 day trial for it. That way someone could get a bunch of WoW trial account keys and have a dabble with it and see if it was something they wanted to pursue. Cause to be honest, it's pretty complex, at least i think it is, and i'm only 2 boxing at the moment. Though very tempted to move to 3/4 now that i'm getting the hang of it. ^^

So yeah, be nice to us noobs when we're in the noobs forum, please.

From what I understand the reason for not having any sort of trial is because it would make it EASIER for people to "crack" keyclone. There are already too many keylogger-infested illegal copies of cracked software floating around.

That being said, if you're just looking to "dabble" in multiboxing there are free software options. Check the "Software" section of the wiki ('http://dual-boxing.com/wiki') to find more about them and how to set them up. :)
