So i've grown tired of world of warcraft and its all in all "rinse and repeat" play style...i get bored of doing the same thing 100x a week.

so im looking for a new game to move on to.

im looking for something with a little bit of the same idea as world of warcraft (level up - take on big bosses etc etc)

but i also want a little bit more of a dynamic player versus player concept... world of warcraft seems to much like... run around-pew-pew-run around-dead

im looking for something with a concept kind of like final fantasy - but with a little pvp in it

please please please recomend something! :D

I'm patiently waiting for stargate worlds

this site is pretty good for reviews of mmos and has a rating system

Have you tried GuildWars? That's been the best for PvP that I've played, although it's technically not a full-MMO since most of the outdoor world areas are instanced. I've been playing Age of Conan and it's been fun.. except the PvP servers tend to have more ganking than the WoW PvP servers.

i've played of ton a them.

Perhaps you may like Age Of Conana, the combat style is a bit diffrent. Wasn't for me, but it might be for you.

EVE on-line is also a bit diffrent, the combat system is extrmely blane and boring, however the rest of the game if your in to playing the market and building/crafting trucking etc, then you may like that one. Just note this game has a really big learning curve you will need to RTFM a good bit starting out.

Other then that, I find just a break and playing first person shooter games is nice. Just head some where like File Planet and download demos for free, play them even on-line for that matter and have fun.

I'm looking forward to Warhammer, but doubt this will do anything for the problem you've stated above. Warhammer will be very much like WoW, in every way. The only difference (which might actually intrigue you) is that WAR was built from the ground up based on PvP, from small skirmishes to medium-sized objective based struggles (scenarios/BGs) to small keep/castle seiges (including Seige Weapons) to all-out city assault. PvP plays a part in how your faction and your own PvE experience will turn out, and vice versa.

Age of Conan has a pretty entertaining idea for PvP mechanics, but the actual mechanics and balance between PvP damage and HP is very badly flawed. As such, there are a lot of changes swinging the balance heavily back and forth, always missing the mark. It's worth a shot I suppose. Only 3 classes are Multiboxable in its current form (imo).

For a change of monotony (I said change of, not change from) you could try the crafting portion of Everquest 2. Try starting on as new a server as possible, and a PvE one at that, as you will find old servers extremely difficult to vie in as a new player.

Maybe MMOs are not going to satisfy you anymore. You could try some of the good old Turn-based strategy games, be it RPG or Sim.

Some good ones that I still play occasionally are:

Civilization 3 + 4
Age of Empires Mythology w/Titans expansion, Age of Empires 3 + expansions
Shining Force 1 + 2 ROMS for Sega Genesis
Final Fantasy Tactics for PSX
Master of Orion 2 (by far the best TB-Strategy game around), Master of Orion 3
Caesar III

FunCom hasn't improved much from AO but in graphics so I can't vouch for AoC. It's up to Warhammer Online (ignore the negative press about stuff cut to make launch, the RvR is so good I don't even care that it's got PunkBuster in it) or one of those MMOs you never hear anything about unless you go to obscure websites

Find a time machine and go back to play SWG pre-jedi. Those were some fun times.

If you're a hardware multiboxer, I'd suggest FlyFF. Gameguard prevents software multiboxing from working, and it's definitely a game that focuses on monotonous level grinding, but I think controlling a party might be interesting, especially if you do an AoE + Heal type group. (Knight + Ringmaster = huge pulls)

God this topic got me thinking about FFXI. I really wish they'd make the game free to play on some kind of advertising system. I bought 5 copies of WoW, I could never justify doing so for FFXI. Pity, it would be a beautiful game to multibox, the macro system is about as versatile as WoW's, plus you could multibox melee classes! /sigh To top it all off, unlike WoW where you can play solo for much of the content, close to none of the content in FFXI is solo-able, so multiboxing would be like the ultimate "Iwin" tool. Instead of spending 2 hours looking for a group and 1 hour levelling, you could start levelling as soon as you log on. That's something very few FFXI players have the luxury of.

FFXI was my very first MMO. I spent three and a half months at level 56 LFG every day for all that time. Tried making my own groups, nothing. The only thing I’d get was [English] = <No Thanks>. The racism I received on there playing on JP prime time was something else. In broken English I’ve been told some very nasty things unprovoked lol.

Any rate, after LFG 3 and half months, I felt that I reached the end of the game since I could no longer advance, moved to Linage II (My first experience with PVP and loved being a player killer!) Before I was SUCH a carebear, really I wouldn’t do a thing to harm a sole. Then one day I just said, well let me try this once. It’s been a drug ever since.

CalciferI think I can name all the mobs from memory...

Bees, sheep, giraffe thing, living bomb, magical pot, goblin, crab, elementals (4 types), fish. Demsfly, ghost, skeleton, worms, giants, those ant people, beetles, crawlers, scorpion and those Turtle people that start with Q (forget name Qudov or something like that). I think that covers every model in the game as you advance their name changes, that’s it. :(
