Im planning on 3boxing and having 2 mages follow me, i originally thought i might make a priest to go with them or a lock but decided against that seengs that i already have a lock and dont really wanna restart that again unless i 3 lock it, priest is good for heals/sheild but in the end all classes ARE only clothies, i was thinking shammy, they seem pretty popular seeings they have chain heal and i dont have a sham yet, but pally also looks good :( im all torn over what to choose and i absolutely hate getting to level 20 and restarting cos i didnt like my choice.
Cheers

I have gotten to lvl 20 with alot of different teams. Dont be afraid to change things up untill you find a group that you really enjoy. If you think might want a pally, then add the pally. If you want to add a priest, then add the priest. The important thing is that your having fun.

If it were me, I'd choose a pally as my tank. They are much easier to get avoidance cap and they can easily aoe tank mobs which reduces the need of cc. Also, pally tanks along with druids do a decent amount of damage even in their tanking specs so that is something to think about. As far as a healer - shamans add a great deal of utility with heroism/totems/purge/interrupts and can double as dps. Just lay out your options and pros and cons of each and decide what would serve your group best with synergy spells/talents and what you would have the most fun as. Prot pally, 2x mages, spriest, resto shaman might be fun imo. You will probably never run out of mana mana stream/spring + blessing of wisdom + vampiric touch. And you got chain heal/healing wave + vampiric embrace for heals. 2 mages for cc and great dps. Tons of utility with purge/heroism. You get totems and blessings as well.

Easily, a paladin. My favorite dual-box combo was a Paladin/Mage, so the only thing that would have made it better was a 2nd mage. Paladins will hold aggro on enough mobs to make life easy for mages that also like to AoE.

What is it that you want?
A viable tank that can also heal? That'd be a pally (or a druid....).
A fun third character that can act just like a DPS caster and also heal? That'd be a shammy, priest or druid.
With a team of three, I expect you'll be questing most of your time (rather than instancing) so if I were in your shoes I'd probably add a shammy. That would synergise pretty well with the mages but offer you the flexibility to heal and even take a few hits (I hesitate to use the word tank) when needed.
You'll also get the shammy pets at higher level, and it sounds to me like you don't actually need a full-time tank or a dedicated healer.
My second choice would be a druid.
