View Full Version : Just setting up my keyclone

Hello Guys,

I just bought a copy of keyclone and am trying it out using 2 toons on 2 seperate computers.

I have read some of the faqs, I have my macros setup etc and have one character following the other around right now.

I've just rolled 2 alliance shamans and my first (of many I am sure) roadblocks is that I don't know how to automatically accept a quest on both pc's.

If this works OK I am looking to add 3 more toons to my multiboxing empire <insert evil laugh here> ;-) and accepting quests on 5 different instances of wow would be tedious.

Could any pro's please let me know how I can get around this minor (hopefully) hurdle.

Cheers,
Chris

Welcome.

For future reference, this sort of basic question would be better placed on the "newbie boxer" forum, but I appreciate that it can be difficult to work out what's newbie and what isn't.

This sort of basic stuff is all in the Wiki, and in a variety of other threads here.

Start with this part of the Wiki (http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Macro:Accept_All).

Have fun.

Damn sorry, I did actually click the noob forum, then decided to do a search for 'accepting quests' didnt find anything and must have clicked the wrong forum :-/

Thanks for reply though, reading your link now :-)

Some people find this particular implementation of "search" to be a bit unintuitive.

When you search for anything, make sure you do so from a list of forum posts or forums. If you type in the search box with a *thread* open, it'll only search in that thread :)

The basic approach is to grab the quests with one character, share them one-by-one with everybody else and hit the AcceptAll macro, which is bound to the same key on all WoWs.

For quests that need an item, you're going to have to go to each instance of WoW and click the quest giver manually. The "picture in picture" feature of Keyclone makes this less painful than it would otherwise be when you're running multiple WoWs on a single machine, but you still need to get clicking!

sorry I have one more question :-)

I got the accept-all macro working correctly, is there such a simple solution for handing in a quest or is going to each instance of wow and clicking the only way to hand these in? :-)

Thanks,
Chris

That was answered in this recent thread (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=9063&).

Hello its me again with a new question :-)

I've decided to give it a rest for the night, tomorrow I am going to go buy another 3 battle chests! more alliance shamans ftw :P

I like the idea of stacking 5x totems (do totems stack? haha)

I added the ENTER and SLASH keys as do not pass, but when i say type /rofl my clone will open social window (O) then try to assist (F) then open quest lock (L) :-)
Is there any way to stop sending keys after i press SLASH or ENTER until i press ENTER again?

Thanks,
Chris

Also, sorry for double post..

I was just finding tonight that when my clone is on follow mode - sometimes when I have targetted an enemy on my main, by the time the clone has caught up on /follow I get the 'cannot cast while moving' message so I find that I am running up to a mob, delaying my cast by a second or two then casting so I know the clone will be casting too.

Thanks again for help tonight for a complete keyclone noob :)

You have keyclone, if you press the 'Pause' button on your keyboard it stops key broadcasting to other windows, it's very useful.

What graphics settings are you using? Are you using maximizer? Do you have maxfps and maxfpsbk set correctly? What specs are your computer/what is your setup? Lowering details etc may help your character following lag problems.

ChrisBSyd eh - sounds like another Aussie - if that's so, come join the dark side of Horde on Caelestrasz - 2 5 boxers on Horde side and counting...hehe.

As to your questions.

So, if I read your do not pass list, you typed: / r o f l (rtn). The follower saw r o f l. I say this because you say that / isn't passed nor is enter (both of these keys need to be passed if you want your followers doing anything much more than simply following).

I'm not using maximizer at the moment, I want to get everything set up nicely before I run fullscreen? (doh in advance if that isnt what maximizer does)
My main laptop is an acer gemstone 8920 which is fairly new, the clone is an acer aspire 9240. The gemstone is much better and is running 1640x1024?

Yep I'm an aussie.. All of my toons transferred to cael when the free transfer was up. My undead rogue (70) is retired unfortunately :P I am currently raiding t5/t6 stuffs on my human warlock, pvping my priest some s2 gear and about to roll some alliance shamans ;-)
Do you guys on horde have a common guild or diff guilds?

I'm going to go to bed in a few mins just watching a multibox movie I downloaded. I'd seriously consider rolling horde if I had some regular players to talk to. I think my alliance guild (Premade) would get some giggles from me logging in 5toons but thats about it, I can't see them joining me :-)

Ahhh, you have 2 computers. Well in that case I am not sure how much I can help you, I did notice some lag when I used 2 computers in the past to dual box crudely, but these days I run them all on one computer. It may just be network lag that is causing this, although I am not an expert in this area. As for maximizer, it's nice for setting up your screen how you like it, and setting a max refresh rate, which lets your machine run smoother if you are running multiple WoWs.

i tried that :(

what I ended up with was

[Char2 rolls on the floor laughing]

(edit: fixed bodgy spelling i hope, 4 wild turkeys ftw)

Howdy Chris and welcome to the forums!

you won't be able to get your characters to do what you are thinking... and here's why

your characters each have numerous vectors that define their location and facing in 3 space (you can tell this as your characters can jump off cliffs and pick up speed due to 'gravity').

each of these is fairly precise, as you can see as you rotate left and right... they don't have 'stops' every 10 degrees but rather, fluidly rotate. this is because the character is using at least a position vector, a facing vector (probably), a velocity vector and an acceleration vector.

when you push forward on W, odds are, they are adding some amount of acceleration to the acceleration vector... which, when the timer comes around to adjust the various vectors, will add to your velocity vector... and thereby update your position vector.

the net result to the gamer is... you move forward. BUT, if your main's position vector was (1.0,1.0,1.0) and your alt was (1.0,2.0,1.0)... pushing forward might move your main to (1.0,1.5,1.0) but your alt moved to (0.8,2.2,1.0) (very simplistic boil down here... the numbers are just for explanation and nowhere near the correct values)

the reason your characters moved differently... is due to their facing vector.. which would be near impossible to align exactly. yes, you can get short bursts to work.. but your characters will diverge very quickly

(sorry about the wall-o-text... i hope it makes some sense)

so.. in the end... /follow is your friend

:D

There's definitely a thread around here that answer belongs to, Rob, but I think you might have posted it in the wrong one :)

Boom made a great guide ('http://www.twentytotems.com/2007/11/stackable-totems-guide.html') about what totems stack and which do not.

EDIT: oops! It was already linked. Ignore me.
