First a little background, i have been playing Wow for over 2 years now i have 3 lev 70's and ~6 lev 60ish toons across various servers. Also i have 2 accts.
my main rig is composed of
intel core 2 duo extreem edition
intel MB
2MB ram 800mhz
g15 keyboard
g7 mouse
z-board game pad
32" wide screen monitor
nvidia 7600 - 256
my secondary system
2.8 p4
asus MB
1.5g ram i belive 333mhz
wireless memorex 7000 keyboard&mouse
19" & 17" dual monitors
nvidia 6600 -256
so....
Basicly I am looking for the easist way to Dual box w/ this set up.
(I know only 2 boxing...sorry)
Originally i was thinking of some sort of USB splitter and just hook the game pad to both comps. The problem is i cant find a splitter (any sort of signal duplicator for that matter) at a decient price!!! >_<
so knowing about Zxin i looked up some of his posts on wow forums and landed here.
While digging through these forums i saw a couple of software ways of doing this ....keyclone / Auto hot key and using 1 comp......
so...
1) Are these software programs legal w/ the TOS? is there ANY CHANCE that i will be banned for using them?
2) Does anyone know of a cheap way to do this w/ hardware (the game pad) so i can use 2 comps and dont have to split the screen/ loose proformance and i know that i am folloing the TOS?
thanks for all the advice ahead of time

while others can give you pointers on where to find good equipment... i can say that non-botting, non-macro-capable software multi-boxing is not against the TOS. i have had conversations directly with customer service and technical support personnel at Blizzard, and every one of them agreed that multi-boxing was fine... so long as no botting or macroing was possible. several times, i was told of people within Blizzard that multi-boxed as well... mostly with just multiple keyboards (i suggested this site to help make their life easier). i was also directed to ask GM in game specifically about keyclone, which i did. although they were unfamiliar with keyclone (that hurt :) ) they re-iterated the statements of the Blizzard personnel.

in the end, the rule of thumb was... if you weren't at the keyboard, your character must be useless.
keyclone does not and will not allow for any kind of timed or recorded actions. no botting or macroing is or will be possible. (the same cannot be said of AHK)
you can search this site, the keyclone FAQ, and even the WoW forums at Blizzard for more comments on the subject.
of course, that does assume that Blizzard doesn't change their TOS... which is always possible... i cannot do anything about that. and if they ban multi-boxing, using hardware or software wouldn't matter.

Honestly, reading your setup I would say go with the dual box on the intel duo computer, get keyclone and on your way. No reason to waste time trying set something else up when you can just open two instances of the game and do well. You should think about transfering the 3rd 70 to another account that will allow you to do 3 times the daily quests at the same time which means more gold :) If you need any help with the actual set up please ask, but your rigs sound very similiar to my start and that was easy five boxing, now we just need to get you there if you want.

the Warlock and the Spriest should make a good couple (cast times might be a issue..we will see as that is my intentions) but adding a pally to the mix (my 3rd toon and the hypthetical 3rd acct) wouldn't make a good match :\ melee (tankadin) + 2 range would be kinda tough to control........ and i dont know if it would be worth the effort :p
As for 5 boxing, sounds tempting but i would have to get away from multiple classes at least to start....maybe change the priest to holy and 3 more locks. lol
Are you really able to run 5 copies on 1 computer w/o serious proformance issues?!
I tried running 2 games before useing the 2nd monitor for the 2nd acct on auto follow tabbing between screens (before the 32") i got HORRIBLE frame rates on the 2nd copy. I have done some recent upgrades (more ram & the single monitor instead of 2) that might improve that issue but before it was so bad i stopped even trying after a week exept to trade items etc.

Not for the sake of argument but...
IMO go for Multibox or keyclone and run one account on each PC, you can then add to the setup with a third account if you find that dual-boxing is your thing.
You have the hardware to run two accounts on one PC but its easier to run an account per PC. Certainly thats what I have found.

Are you running XP, if so you need to take it out of Dual-View and turn the two monitors into one big one. that removes the Lag issue. Also, upgrade to Vista and the problem is gone.

Multiboxing was kind of my original plan when i started looking at these forums. Before today I did not even know there was software that existed that would make this possible (short of bots and illegal programs which i am not willing to do).
Does key clone work across 2 computers (networked of course) as well as just having 5 window capablity on 1 computer? What do you have to do to make it work if it does have that capablity? remote desktop in?
for the dual monitor tip thx zseth if i ever go back to dual monitors on my main system i will remeber that for sure (for now the 32" is great :)
