I know this may vary per person but... if that stats are excellent, woud you opt to wear a cloth piece over a mail piece on a level 50-ish shaman mb team? I was reading a blog from a mb'er who did that and it got me thinking. Cloth has excellent caster stats; can a mb team go without extra armor/protection in lieu of bonus stats? I do not mean wearing all cloth, just one piece, like the chest piece for example?
While leveling definitely, I used the Hellfire cloth shoulders for the longest time, eventually replaced them with the Netherstorm mail shoulders and now S2 shoulders.

If you run with a tank, then cloth, leather and mail are all valid options.
If you run with no tank, then cloth is probably not a good choice unless you are good at kiting things around.

I go with whatever benifits me to kill stuff faster. Unfortunately for elemental shaman, there isn't a lot of low/mid level leather/mail gear that has spell damage or decent int. So I have been playing mainly in cloth gear with no tank. I have had no problems doing instances at the appropriate level even with no tank and the cloth gear. The thing that I find inportnat for any sucessful instance is preparation. Pull wisely and avoid CL if possible and use the stoneclaws/grounding to your advantage.

pre-outlands, and even in outlands a lot of my gear was cloth. Once I was 66ish, I would prioritize armor over spellpower because of instances. But earlier on it is less important, similar to using a staff over mainhand/shield.

Ok thanks... that changes my decisions on what blues to take. I appreciate it!
