So I've just finished boosting 4 alts to level 40 in SFK and SM. I'm leveling up two priests and two warlocks to join my 70 warlock.
I used my Warlock for the boost, mostly SM Cathedral, using the talents and technique here:

Was very tedious casting dots on everyone, but I couldn't seem to get the SoC technique to work reliably. The leveling time was also a little slower than I hoped, about 30-50 minutes per level, taking about 15 min to clear cathedral each time. Not sure if it can be done any faster without a prot pally though.
So I understand the next step is ZF, but I can't find much info online about the pulls and the best way to do it. Any tips on best specs and ways to do the pulls?

I don't know too much about a lock (i have one, but was scared to use him for grinding), but 15 min per cath clear is real nice. It took me 22 minutes for my rogue to do. I would say do ZF till 45 (takes my rogue about 55 minutes to do a clear, i skip the stairs because i have no aoe to kill them, but i do the zombie trolls where you have to click on the graves). I say i get about 5 to 6 bars there. Right now i am doing scholo (can start at 45) i get about 2.5 bars there only clearing the first room, which takes me 15 minutes. My plan was to do the first 3 rooms but 1 mob run from group to group which agros the whole room and they summon skeletons. After 10 seconds i had the whole room on me and 30 skeletons. Thank god for vanish.

I don't really play a lock much, but with my mage I mount up and gather a group of them then LOS them some where then AOE. There are a lot of hunter types so that kinda sucks.
2 things that you need to worry about totems will aoe heal them so they need to go down. As a mage it's not that big of a deal, but pallies have some trouble with them. The other is the hunters will stay at range unless you LOS them, which can be a pain because ZF is wide open. It helps to have heals because these guys hit a decent amount harder than SM cath.
This is just a thought that probably wouldn't work to well, but you could...
1. mount up and aggro a good number of mobs.
2. once they are close together have your mage cast improved blizzard to slow them down( ride through the blizzard).
3. Seed the group
4. Take out ranged that didn't get hit by the seeds
5. Profit
This would be the fun way to do ZF.

oh yeah forgot about hexes, you turn into a frog and everyone else dies. Can be kind of a pain.
I was pulling smaller groups, so once the hex wears off you may have your party still alive. But with big groups it's a wipe.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried a few runs tonight... it's going to take a bit of practice for sure. Probably 5-10 more runs to really get it right. It's not nearly as straight forward as SM and so far my xp per hour isn't amazing, but there's room for improvement. Worst case I could probably do 1.5-2 hours per level, which is reasonable.
Unless I discover a whole new technique or build, I doubt grinding out 50-60 with a warlock is going to work. It's taking almost 3 full dots to kill the ZF mobs at this point, and I don't think I can put out enough damage to take lvl 55-60 elites fast enough for it to be a boost for the lowbies.
I figure as long as I can get to 50, I can quest it out from there. I think the zones and quests become fun again around that point (I can't stand 20-50 as horde, or 30-50 as alliance... garbage zones and quests).

You might want to try scholo at 45 maybe. You wont be able to dot everything to kill it. But if you go after 1 group at a time you can easily do it (well at least the first room). It takes me about 15 minutes to clear the first room (then i reset) and get about 2.40 bars per run and plus I get Dawn rep too :). They hit hard but the good thing is that they don't run. The casters like 1 out of 30 will run, not run away, but runs like a couple feet away from you and possible it might agro another group. There are like 3 pats in there and once they are down it is easy. There are like say 15 groups there (Might be off). 10 of them are groups of 2 (perfect for my rogue, i get to sap one). 2 groups of 3. Another groups of 3 but if you are not really really really careful you pull another group of 2. 1 group of 4. Another good thing is that after you clear the bridge of the 4 skeletons and the pat skeleton that goes up and down the stairs after the gate with the 4 skeletons you just park the toons at the top of the stairs and they will be in range of xp in that whole room (when you kill the first 5 skeletons just leave them at the entrance.
