Lets see if I can describe the little issue I have here:

Running 5 clients on 1 quadcore box, with enough ram and GPU power.

Maximizer setup with PiP, 2 monitors, main running nearly fullscreen and other monitor running quad clients, 1 quarterscreen each

I have seen multiple threads on this issue, explained in different ways, but no solution/link to solution.

Problem:

If I hotkey press toon2-PiP keybind, the window does indeed move to my main region and maximizes, and the FPS on toon2 shoots to my Maxfps setting of 45. However, the toon1 window does not get "demoted" to background, and thus retains 45fps too. Meaning my hardware starts lagging a bit more than needed. If I then select the toon1 window on my second screen WITH THE MOUSE!, and select toon2 window again with the mouse, the fps on toon1 windows drops to the maxfpsbk setting of 20 fps.

It seems to me, that when I use the hotkey function of PiP and let it switch, I get 2 of the clients flagged as being in the foreground at the same time, except that ofc that isn't possible in windows ;)

Does this make sense ? Is there an easy fix, that I have simply overlooked ?

Oh, and the obligatory praise: KEYCLONE RAWKS THE DONKEYS BALLS!

:D

well, please make sure you are using v1.8k.

as for having 2 windows in focus at the same time, that's not quite the case. basically, wow is not recognizing that it has lost focus... and continues to use maxfps instead of dropping to maxfpsbk.

let me know if you were using v1.8k

aye, using 1.8k

I forgot to mention, I run Vista Home Premium, fully windows-updated.

But yes, you described the scenario in much fewer words than I did :)

My current workaround, is after switching, I click with the mouse to focus the "runaway" slave, and click back in the main window. Considering lowering maxfps to a point where it doesn't affect my gameplay, if 2 windows run like that. Also, after visiting IronForge in primetime, I should lower the maxfpsbk a bit... damn, there's a lot of stuff going on there.

you may also want to set your clients to low detail, reducing the amount of things they need to render... reducing the workload always helps

aye, they are currently running default details - I suppose I could lower it. If I do so on 1 client alone, and only launch that, I get over 200fps. And that's abit more than I need for "playable" ;)

Anyways, I hope the issue is something you recognize as an actual issue, and will look into it at some point. It's not fatal, the game does run like a spun kitten through keyclone :)

Awesome work :)

I also am using 1.8k and Vista 64-bit, latest updates(sp1). I have the exact same problem, any alt I switch with my main never gets "demoted" and retains a high fps. This only happens with my main, if I switch from an Alt to another Alt, things work as expected. This issue is very annoying as I need to always click on the window after I swap my main out.

EDIT: I should also add, I am using a 9800gx2 with just one display. I have 1 main window that covers most of my screen with the 4 alts running on the right side, all using the exact same aspect ratio. PiP is very fast, even in places like orgrimmar. Also, I wonder if maybe having a macro fire while pressing the PiP key might be interfering? Ie. F12 is PiP and also is /focus Alt2

i do not believe the macro firing at the same time has any impact.
the issue is that wow is not recognizing that it has lost focus.

please insure you are using v1.8k from 21 june... and not the beta or alpha versions. in the latest stable, i was sending extra killfocus and setfocus messages to the 2 windows

other then that, moving your mouse in and out of those windows, if you have focus-follows-mouse enabled, will usually be enough to push the alt window down to maxfpsbk.
