my brother is moving out and taking his router with him. i'm in need of a new one and have no clue as which one would be best. i need one that would have a range on the wireless that would reach from my house next door to my mother's. she's about 300-350 feet away, ruff guess. my neibors seem to have a good range on their's but i can only get about 1 bar (55kb/s) if i'm lucky to catch it. it keeps fading in and out, but their house is further than mine, atleast another 100 feet. any suggestions would be great. i'd prefer newegg.com links, as i'm using my card when i place my order for my pc/laptop, which ever i get.

any range extended router from linksys or netgear will do the trick. However there is a better part to this!!!

You need to make an antennae for your computer grab the signal better. Google home made WIFI antennae and you will find a pringles can or a coffee can one. I know it looks bad but it works fucking GREAT!

Get any standard wireless router (something with some broadcasting oomph of course though) for your place - for your mothers place you need a wireless bridge!!

I've used one of these before, they work VERY well.

Most of the linksys routers broadcast 70 mw with the standard setup. If you have trouble reaching that far I would get dd-wrt so you can hit up to 200mw. A bridge or repeater would be your best option.

^^ Flash with this firmware

Buy another router, flash it as well, setup a mesh wireless network with the same SSID ;-)
