Ive been trying to get info on if mythic(warhammeronline) will be ok with multiboxing. Posted on some other forums hopping to get some reply, but got no confirmation on this. Wonder if any of you got some info about this? Wouldent wanna get banned straight away :).

My friends and I regularly multiboxed DAoC. In fact, I believe that was part of their monetary strategy because there was no other use for buff bots except to sit in the keep on another machine while we send in our $15/month for that account. Based on that I would suggest that it will be okay, but it's really hard to tell because at first GMs are going to encounter this behavior and it's highly likely that they are not going to have a policy for it and the actions that the GMs take will vary wildly.

We also would drag several toons around with us while XPing, but I don't think it ever occured to us to actually have them do DPS since certain classes were already hugely OP in PVE at level 50. We did have a keyclone-like program that we used but mainly that was used to do autobuffing.

I'm not in the beta but I found this info "somewhere" to take it for what it is...

The game amounts to this:

Classes:
Two sides with 3 factions each. Each faction with 4 classes which amount to Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Healer. However each class may not work on the same mechanic as others of it's type though usually the other team will have a mirror of it.

For example a Black Orc is a tank who's mechanic is "Plans" which basically means that some skills you have are openers which let you use a second set of skills (or spam the openers) and when one of the second tier skills is used it opens up third tier skills which are the most powerfull available to the Black Orc. Once a third tier skill is used the "Plan" is reset back to first tier. The Black Orc has a mirror class on the other team in the "Swordmaster" class.
However while both of those mirrors share the same type of mechanic their roles (aside from tanking) are still different in that a Black Orc is somewhat more offense oriented while a Swordmaster is more of a mage killer just based on the skills they get.

Now that's two mirrors of a tank. Another example of a tank would be the Chaos Chosen whose mechanic is "Auras". Basically the Chosen can use his skills whenever he wants assuming he has the Action Points (mana) and that his skills aren't on cooldown. His auras are much more group oriented usually by allowing group mates to do extra damage from procs or debuffing all enemies within the aura range. Most of his auras that I've seen add to damage or debuff the enemy somehow.

Both the Black Orc and Chosen have tanky things like taunts and the ability to mitigate damage to groupmates but they go about their jobs differently. This is pretty much how all the classes are. They fufill their roles slightly differently than others of the archetype.

Leveling:
There are 40 character ranks (levels) and 80 renown ranks. You get character ranks from normal xp from killing monsters, completing quests and killing players. Character ranks are what you are used to in most MMOs when you think of levels. Renown however can only be gained by killing other players, capturing keeps and battlefield objectives in RvR areas and doing scenarios (like battlegrounds). As you gain renown ranks you can use the points (1 per rank) to buy enhancements to your character in the form of either increased attributes or buying +5% xp when killing other players etc.
Renown ranks also allow you to buy some of the best equipment currently in the game from "Champions Equipment" vendors. The equipment has character rank and renown rank pre-requisites so as long as you can keep your renown ranks up you can usually have some pretty powerfull equipment for your character.

There are also 3 mastery lines for each class which allow you to tailor your class to be more defined. I've mostly played tanks so the 3 mastery lines have been along the lines of Offence Line, Defense Line, and a 3rd line which has been different between the tanks I have played. The Ironbreaker had a group oriented line while the swordmaster has a more magic oriented line.

All in all I would say leveling in this game has come easily though I hear people complain on the beta forums that it's too slow. I've never had any problems and since I've been in beta I probably could have leveled two characters to max character rank by now. They do focus testing so there have been character wipes and only certain zones have been open so far. I guess when some of you more seasoned WoW vets get in you can better gauge it.

Zones:
Each race has a pairing where your race shares zones mostly with another race. Of course you can travel to other races zones with flight master NPC's located in specific locations. Each zone is ranked by it's Tier and there are 2 zones per tier per pairing. Each zone also has a designated PvE and RvR area. In the lower tier zones the RvR area is relatively small (maybe 10% of the zone) while as you get into higher tiers the RvR zone gets larger and larger. In Tier 3 zones the RvR area is probably between 1/3 to 1/2 of the zone.

In tier 4 there are more zones than just two per racial pairing but they have not had tier 4 open since I have been in. Also in tier 4 are each races capital city. Currently only two of the capital cities are in game.

PvP/RvR:
I won't make an entry for PvE. I haven't seen any elaborately scripted PvE aside from some of the Public Quests and the individual mobs themselves have mostly been tank & spank.

As for PvP/RvR. I would say the classes are pretty balanced so far but of course things are constantly being tweaked. Healers are pretty powerfull in game and pretty much the only ones able to consistently take them on in an even 1v1 situation are Melee DPS since they have a lot of constant high damage which allows them to interrupt the healers casting as well as outdamage any healing they manage to do.

The sides themselves have been somewhat imbalanced with most people playing the destruction side. Orcs and huge evil men from hell on earth just seem cooler to play than dwarves and average humans. Still I wouldn't say the current disparity is that bad and likely will be remedied with a larger server population as well as possible side caps.

I've only done a little open field RvR due to server population but what I have experienced has been fun and will be more so when they work all the bugs out. Sniping people with a ballista who think they are safe in the back of a zerg is nice. I say sniping because in some of the siege engines (built on siege pads) open up a little crosshair that you aim and fire with. Some like cannons and catapults are AOE while the ballistas are more single target.

Everyone who has played WoW knows what a BG is. In this game they are called scenarios and so far I have experienced 1 per tier per racial pairing. No scenario I have played so far has been quite the same as any of the others.
Some you will recognize. There's a CTF one. A capture battlefield objectives one where each objective will trickly in points for your side. One where once you capture both flags the other side has 10 seconds to recap one or your team gets a bunch of points while massive explosions blow the shit out of anyone near the two flags. There's a deathmatch one. And they also have one called murderball where someone picks up an object which periodically damages them but at the same time they do more damage to others and get more points per kill while they have the ball. It's kind of like a kill the QB scenario.

That was a good Warhammer read.

The more I read about this game, the more I can't wait to play and multibox it.

Just a few more months....

And with the way AoC is going, the transition to WAR will be easy.
