Diablo3, new Multi-Boxing opportunities?

Well It's ALMOST official, Diablo3 is HIGHLY suspected to be the new game being announced on Blizzard.com (there has been 2 so far splash screens 1 yesterday, 1 today opening up more and more - view: http://www.blizzard.com/us/splash.html).

This is because of the embedded figures in the splash screen already (every day a new rune symbol is being added!):
Top right corner of the splash screen you see a symbol surrounded by several circles, well in D2 this is the Hel Rune symbol = diablo.
Middle left another symbol, this 1 is the Fal Rune symbol = diablo.

So with this I'm just wondering what new opportunities this will bring to the world of dual-boxing.
I'm sure blizzard will be putting a follow system into diablo3 if it is diablo 3 after implementing it into WoW so right there is a capability.

Anyone else going to try it w/ D3 if/when it comes out? I surely am!

BTw, diablo dies in D2, baal (diablo's brother) is the final boss you kill so they would need to make a new boss. He died in Diablo1 too but shh. Maybe Diablo's father or something.. iono

Plus the orchestra in Czech republic that recorded the sound for D2 LoD admitted to recording newer Diablo-sounding music for Blizzard not too long ago. Could be for something else but seeing as it's the same people that recorded for D2.. they know the music style and to them sounded like Diablo.

Yeah, I've been following diabloii.net for years, and they have frequently posted D3 rumors. Man, I hope this is true.. D2X was easily in my top 5 for longest-played games. When the concept of WoW was announced (before the word Warcraft was in it), I was hoping it would be a Diablo 3 MMO..

Anyways has any ever thought that perhaps it could be a combining of Warcraft and Diablo universes? I mean after Arthas dies wtf are we going to be going after next? Other than the spirit of sargeras there aren't really any other major figures that would pose a major threat to Azeroth, Kil'jaden if I understand correctly was the most powerful of Sargeras' dreadlords after Archimonde died. /shurg who knows just a thought.

Well, there is the whole Titan quest line.... and a bunch of unopened portals in Outlands that go "somewhere". Almost every zone in Outlands has one....Well thats exactly my point though...there's a TON of new directions that WoW can take after Arthas is dead, not no directions. However there really is no real obvious direction that the lore would take wow after Arthas. So if something like this was to ever take place, the merging of two universes, it would be a good time to introduce such a thing imo. As far as the Titans are concerned they are else where in the universe oblivious to the burning crusade on azeroth at least as far as the lore suggests...

This may seem like kind of a stretch at first lorewise, but when you sit back and think about it, it would kind of make sense in some ways and even explain a few things. On another thought it could also allow blizzard to add in a new route for the game to take as well as give it the perfect time to upgrade graphics and such that WoW will one day need. Meh...maybe it is kind of a large stretch but who knows I guess we will see in the weeks to come.

Sweet! It'll be released in like 2 - 3 years. :rolleyes: That's what they'll announce.. in Bliz's years, that's more like 4-5. :)

I find it hard to believe they'll make a Diablo 3 MMO - it may compete too much with WoW. Based on how much time I spent on Diablo/D2, I'd drop WoW in a heartbeat if D3 is released and a solid successor to D2X. They may try to release it years down the road, after they guess WoW has run its lifetime - like the rotation between Warcraft 2, Starcraft, and Warcraft 3.. just with longer timeframes between games due to development/maintenance costs and profit. Milk each game as long as possible. I think Bliz may be starting to realize that WoW has dated graphics that weren't terribly impressive when first released (like Diablo2.. remember 800x640 resolution?), and WoLK may be the last expansion before they shift to a Diablo 3 MMO.. although I'd expect WoW to continue with success for at least 5 more years. That would be a good timeframe to focus development on a D3 MMO, while continuing support for WoW.

In all reality, I think this big splash screen announcement is simply going to be an official exact release date for WoLK. (But I can still hope for D3, as I have been for the past 5 years.)

By this time WOW might have hit its peak so releasing a new mmorpg would make perfect sense. Then ride the new mmorpg for another 8 or so years and then release wow 2.

Hopefully the new mmorpg will use the 64 bit and multi graphics card. If this happens it should be a little easier to multi box. Does anyone know if AoC or WAR uses 64 bit and milti graphics cards? Cause i know that AoC needs a good computer to run and even better to dual box, but don't know if it is 64 bit and uses multi graphics cards.

The other thing is too that in 4 to 5 years, 64 bit might become the standard. Now the question is will WOW die out or will it become everquest and never die?

I didn't see it answered, but about the questions on diablo lore on page 1, diablo was "killed" in the first one, but not his soulstone. The player jams the soulstone into them to contain diablo in the ending, failing, thus we have diablo 2. However, in 2 the soulstones of mephisto and diablo were both shattered, and I believe baal's as well but I'm not sure on that one. There's also the problem of the worldstone shattering, which I read(didn't verify source) pretty much means magic no longer works in the world...so uh...yeah I'm pretty curious how the lolore ends up in d3. Maybe a prequilol.

Can easily tell those don't match lich king eyes. A LOT more spread out & thinner. Based on their size it wouldn't be a bigger head either, just more spaced out eyes like diablos. That head picture you posted replaces the eyes. The diablo 1 USES the eyes and it fits perfectly.

Day 5: Lost Viking rune = Frostmourne (WoW), D2, Starcraft, Warcraft3, Lost Vikings Rune = All Blizzard games. New game is being released not just WoW Beta. They did this with S2 (new game) so yeah.. history repeats itself.

Everyone keeps saying ice... I don't see ice at all. The entire screen looks like crystal pylons to me. And the eyes look more like Zeratul's (protoss zealot) than anything else.

But we'll see. The good news is that it can't be bad news :D

edit: and to people thinkign that migth be ice; i wouldnt rule it out myself, but if u remember tyrael destroyed the world crystal at the end of act 5 in diablo 2, it was red when he smashed it and then became a clearish blue color when it was shattering/falling apart because he had cleansed it with his sword. im not saying thats definetely what it is but it could be that from the world crystal diablo was somehow reborn or (insert theory here)

If there is it really wouldn't matter if you can target or not, just roll your slave a class that is aoe based such as a sorceress or a witch doctor as seen in the gameplay video in which you just press a hotkey in the direction your facing and it will do that aoe because it isn't target based.

Me too.. man, it was a pain in the ass to mule items before I got the 2nd account.
- Log into an open game, run to corner of town and drop off loot.
- Relog into the same game name on mule, run to corner of town and hope no one saw you drop off loot.
- Pick up loot if it's still there.

Interesting move by Blizzard.Unless I'm mistaken Blizzard already has plans in the background for another MMO whenever WoW eventually dies out. Most people assumed it was going to be D3. Now we apparently know that whatever this mystery MMO is going to be it isn't going to be D3.

I hate to break it to you, but people are STILL playing D2 pretty hardcore online.

D3 is going to require a lot of hardware to support.
I was making the comparison to an MMO - it costs a lot more to run 24/7 persistent servers than to have many smaller requirement servers handle multiple games of 8-16 players, both in terms of hardware and support staff. Blizzard stated this when comparing the cost to keep running Diablo 2 vs the "new" WoW.

And d3 isn't an MMO like WoW. It's the same gameplay type as D2, just extremely updated, new graphics, looking a lot more 3d, new environments, new characters/classes, new spells, lore, etc.
Basically just a newer D2. However I'm still gunna enjoy the hell out of it, especially starting from scratch w/ everyone and not having everyone being able to rush ^^

There is no way this game will be out by Christmas 2008, and as Blizzard's past games have gone, their target date would probably be around Oct. 2009, but fall to March-July 2010.. possibly Nov/Dec 2010. Look at all the jobs available for D3 artists & level designers. Even the D3 interviews state that they've got a ton of work to do for content.. there's still a lot of work to do, then months of alpha/beta testing afterwards.

I'm hoping the game will be out by Christmas 2009, but I'd put my money on that not happening.

As for quests..:
So there is definitely going to be more and better quests than d2.

A: Our plans for the story and quest mechanics are still under wraps. We'll go into detail on those elements of the game at a later date. We can say, however, that we expect to have class-based quests in addition to the main story-line quests.

But like in D2, there were six quests per zone, and you had to do them in order to progress.

A1- everything skippable except the act boss.
A2- the first quest is skippable, but you did need to get the 3 parts, although you get to keep the cube for nightmare/hell. Summoner is required, but is along the way.
A3- Just need to get the flail parts, everything else is skippable.
A4- Just need boss.
A5- The ancients are required, but are on the way there. Everything else is skippable.

This is without help. I don't remember the exact restrictions that were added, but long ago you could take a portal to the act boss's room, have them killed, then go right to the next act. This doesn't work anymore.

I imagine the quests will be similar, they will either have rewards that you want to get(permanent boost) or are required to get to the next area. A mix of both most likely. EXP rewards aren't out of the question which could mean more skipables that don't have otherwise good rewards.

You know what stands out the most? Horrible gear drops. You could play the game for days on end, and never get anything good.

The other thing is that there is no roll. It just drops out of the mob and who ever has the faster click wins it. They need to fix that, lost tons of suff cause of that.

So I finally go the gameplay video to download and watched it this morning.

Severely disapointed. Its Diablo 2 with better graphics (which look good!). But its the same god damn game. You can't even rotate the camera angle!!!!

I'm sure teh Diablo fanboys will eat this thing up... but otherwise... damn. What a let down.
Well, that's the formula. Diablo 2 was Diablo 1 with better graphics and loot. Diablo 3 will be Diablo 2 with better graphics and loot. 20+ million copies each of D2 and D2:LoD shows that this formula works. D3 will easily surpass the 20+ million mark if they stick to it. It was never intended to be a WoW sequel in gameplay style - they wanted a fast-paced hack'n'slash looter like the first two, so that's what they're making. They've got to save the next MMO for WoW 2.

There is a 'zoom' mode for the camera to get the close-ups of you tearing apart enemies, but I don't think there's a need to rotate the camera. Many spells require area to target with the mouse, and the static overhead works best for that. The gameplay video was better than I expected. I was expecting something similar to Mythos, but the D3 preview easily looks nicer and more solid than Mythos (which is a fun game itself).

I hope that Blizzard doesn't spread themselves too thin. Granted that WOW makes a ton of money for them but probably half (at least 1/3) of the money goes to support. They are still finishing up StarCraft 2 and WotLK; they just started D3 and they are working on another MMORPG. I say that the next MMORPG will be announced next year, maybe at E3, that way they have time to make a demo like they did with D3. They didn't just say D3 was coming out, they had 2 lvls and 2 classes already. I just hope that the money for D3 and the next MMORPG will not take too much money away from WOW. The other thing is too if AOC and WAR does survive and come out with an expansion, WOW might come out with another expansion. God I hope that the expansion comes out in 4 years, it is a pain to rush my toons to 70 so i can rush them to 80 (i just want to see and kill the end boss at least once and have the best PVE gear).
