I can't believe all the crappy configurations I tried with Synergy and Multibox before coming across Kavoom on the net while doing searches for KM (Keyboard Mouse) switches. This software is great. Put it together with Keyclone and it's the shit for a two or three box system.

Kavoom seamlessly integrates using the mouse on multiple machines. I can't believe the number of forum notes I've plowed through with users looking for a mouse solution and all I found was Synergy, Octopus and Multibox. I've only been using it for a while now, but absolutely no problems and it comes with other great features such as copy and paste between machines. OMG, what great stuff that is for a multi-boxer. The only thing that it doesn't have is a pause function that is assignable to a keystroke. You have to pause it by clicking on the tray icon.

Yeah, it ain't cheap, but at roughly 20 bucks a license, I'll do that all day as opposed to messing around with buggy software. Plus, we're multi-boxers. A hardware KM or KVM would be a lot more than the cost of three licenses.

I downloaded this software because of this thread... I tried it for the 30 minute trial period and found it to be simple to set up and use. I bought it. I used it to run RFC with my Shammies, and had no problems. 64 bit vista support. The cost for the first license is $40, that covers two machines. Each additional license (machine) is $20. You can use paypal or your credit card.

This is the first software of this kind that I've used, so I don't have a comparison to other programs or hardware. I just know that it does what it says it will without any bugs... so far.

It's what I use to control my 10 characters over 2 computers.

I see the same thing every now and then when I boot up all three of my computers. All I do is shutdown KM on my main machine and start it back up. All lag goes away. I've gotten at least one upgrade to KM and KVM from Kavoom. The license is good forever as far as I can tell.

I haven't tried Kavoom, but I have been using multiplicity for over two years now. Multiplicity does the same thing...allows one mouse and keyboard to be used across several systems. You just slide the mouse seamlessly from one monitor to another. I've rarely experienced lag with it (only when the primary system is thrashing badly). I used multiplicity to dual-box in EQ2 for over a year to great success. Sofar its a fantastic combination with Keyclone. I use two computers right now, both with keyclone and multiplicity installed.

You can get multiplicity over at Stardock software. Its a bit pricy, but overall cheaper than kavoom. You pay $49.99 for multiplicity pro, and can connect up to 6 computers together for that price. You get network cut/paste and other features as well. The basic version for 2 computers is only $29.99. I believe its a "for life" product as well. Stardock has their own update utility, and I periodically get updates for multiplicity.

How is the mouse camera movement on Kavoom?... when I tried Synergy it would spin the characters all around like crazy unless you enabled a special setting which then required you to lock the cursor to that screen, which was a pain in the ass.

Using Multiplicity and it works great except for one thing and it can only switch horizonataly. I use 6 computers/screens and have them set as this:

SS

SSMS

With Synergy I could move mouse both horizonatly and verticaly so if I wanted to go to Slave at upper left corner I could just go left, up, left to reach it. Now with Multiplicity I must go left, left, left, left to reach it and its harder to see where the pointer are on the screens.

Synergy was great except the bug in WOW where looking was impossible.

Would Kavoom solve this for me?

Edit: I solved my problem in Multiplicity by upgrading to a newer version (1.21), the newer version has an advanced grid option so you can arrange your screens anyway you want it.

Multiplicity does not work well in mixed XP / Vista setups. XP and Vista mixed setups will not communicate and Multiplicity support is not good.

One of the reasons I bought KavoomKM is because it works well with Vista. The one thing that I don't like about KavoomKM is the online licensing method. It is a pain when one of your systems dies with a license still on it. You must contact KavoomKM support and they will reset your licensing information in their database.

The other KM software that I have tried is called MultiView. I would not recommend MultiView to anyone. It is no better than Synergy and has the exact same spin problems.

Do any of these solutions provide the option to only share mouse and not keyboard? I haven't figured out how to do it in either Synergy or Multiplicity.

i was considering using something like this just for looting and maybe even mouse over based macros on my second PC but would like to control both hotbars from the one keyboard.

If none do it I guess using hotkeynet or something similar to all my bind keys the same on either PC would do the job.

Has anyone tried something like this for using mouse over macros? Was mainly thinking of using for a quick way to heal anyone in party on priest while keeping tank as main screen.

I have emailed help@kavoom.biz ('mailto:help@kavoom.biz') asking the above question, and have not received an answer back. The last email was about a week ago, and not even a "hey, we got your email" response. I love the software, but not the support. I would love to disable the keyboard broadcast for WoW, But i do use it when i'm not playing WoW. If someone has an answer for this PM me.

i can't use any of these with my G5 mouse, it works fine with my main pc, but when i move the mouse to another pc it bugs out, and i'm almost 100% sure its the mouse software not being loaded on theo ther pc so the mouse sensitivity differs per pc. i tried with just an MS intelimouse and it worked fine (synergy) but can't figure out how to get my g5 to work, i installed the g5 software on both pc's but of couse that didn't work as i only ahve 1 g5 mouse. so i gave up.

oh and to reply to myself here again, on another subject, has anyone tried synergy for vista 64?

Teejayv

i run synergy on vista 64 everyday.
but now i'm thinking of switching over to multiplicity if not for the fact that it doesnt' work well with xp/vista systems combined.... can anyone confirm this for sure?
if things are good.. then will be switching over. I can't take it anymore the fact that i can't control the mice on the other computer at all with synergy properly (mouselook, camera spin).

I bought this software. It works and I've been able to mouselook/steer okay, but I'm still trying to sort out an issue with it and KeyClone hotstrings.

I fixed my issues with keyclone.

I wrote a batch file on each machine that does this:

@ECHO OFF

net stop "Kavoom! VM"

net start "Kavoom! VM"

So I run these batch files after starting keyclone and it makes sure that the driver order is correct.

I just started playing warhammer. I have 2 computers setup with 2 accounts. i just purchased another keyclone as well as KavoomKM. However I have Kavoom disabled until I can get keyclone to pass all my keyboard keys. atm only esc and enter are passed. Any ideas?

Sorry, I am not understanding your post. What is the problem?

KavoomKM and Keyclone work well together. There is a short lag during the unloading of Keyclone if you do not minimize Keyclone to an icon first. Sometimes Keyclone will not exit properly and I have to kill the process. KavoomKM works well regardless of which keys I pass or do not pass using Keyclone in my experiance.

I currently run 4 instances on my computer and I'm looking to add on another comp so I can play 2 on each. Will Kavoom broadcast my key strokes from my primary to the secondary or do I need another piece of software for that. I currently use keyclone to control my toons.

KavoomKM simply allows you to share one mouse and keyboard across many computers. Keyclone does the keystroke broadcasting.

My question is will it broadcast the keystrokes from computer to computer. I plan on using keyclone on both comps.

KavoomKM does not broadcast keystrokes. Period. KavoomKM will put the keystroke to the computer that has mouse focus. You will have to have Keyclone on all computers that you want to share keystrokes with.

Whats the best to use? KVM or KM? and how does it stack up with multiplicity? Anyone know?

Dinkydau

I use KVM and KM both. I use them for much more than just WoW. I usually have at least two of my three computers on all the time doing just regular stuff. I keep my one laptop on all the time for my "Magicjack" phone, which, by the way is a great thing. Using KVM and KM, I'm able to just scoot the mouse over to the other monitors and start using a second computer without doing anything. It beats the hell out of having to press a button and have hardware change the screen, resolution, etc...

It's free to try and easy to use.

I bought it and love it because it's just stable under vista. The only feature which has to be added is vertical screen support. Other than that a perfect programme.

He have me a link to a version of the code that will broadcast keyboard and mouse.

Here is the URL:

I guess the G stands for Gaming.
I haven't tried it yet as I am on the road but you hit the scroll lock to broadcast.
Think of it as a hardware multicast in that the software knows nothing about windows or screen resolution.

Hi,

Just wanted to give you an update. Have been working with Kavoom in multicast mode for 3 weeks now.

It works great. I have 4 systems up and running now, and will have the fifth later today. I use it to multibox
Eve Online. Works just like a hardware switch/multicast with mouse and keys to all systems or I can move
the mouse from one system to another to work on one at a time.

Because Eve Online is very mouse intensive and no macros, this is what is working best for me and was cheaper
than a hardware solution, not to mention no cables, power, etc.

Take care all.

KotoCool solution. I can't find anything about this version on the Kavoom site. Is there any documentation that you know of for this version?

I have Kavoom Km and I just love it! But i have a question.

As off right now i have 2 computers and 2 screens ( C1 has 24 and C2 has a19`) I have the possibility to add another 19`to the package, that if i buy it i will connect it to C2 so that C2 has 2 19` screens connected.

My scenario here would be the 3 screens possitioned like this : 19 24 19 , where c2 runs the 2x19 inches and c1 runs the 24 inch.

I know that when you set up kavoom Km you also configure the screens on the two computersm but will it be possible in that window to place the 2 19 `on each side of the 24`?

Hope some of you multiscreens mb out there can give me some pointers

Yes, you can do this with kavoom
