Well folks, I'll have to say I like what I have been reading all day while at work. I've been digging through this site so much today I have decided to give it a try! I never was really interested in it before but I've been wanting roll a Shaman and Horde Paladin for a while now, so I figured now would be the time to try it. I have a couple of questions I haven't really been able to find the answers to, so maybe some of you vets can shed some light onto this for me.

Q: Is the group XP boost beneficial enough to do 3 accounts instead of just 2?

My computer can only handle 2 accounts running but I do have the exact same hardware I can use if needed. I would use the main PC for my main account, and the other for the slaves. I don't have a problem running 3 accounts if the group benefits are worth it compared to just 2.

If I run 2 I'm planning on a Paladin and a Shaman, if I run 3 a Paladin and 2 Shaman. I would actually rather replace one Shaman with a Rogue but from what I have read this may be a bad idea.

Q: Would it really be that difficult for someone brand new to multiboxing to run a Paladin tank, Shaman DPS/Healer, and a Combat Swords Rogue?

Q: Do you recommend multi-boxing from the start, or starting at a certain level? Doing this on Horde will have my Paladin and Rogue starting together, but the Shaman will have to do a lot of traveleing for training until roughly 20 or so.

I've got 2 trial accounts ready to go along with my main account, and I'll be trying it tonight. If nothing else the Paladin and Rogue will be started if I can't get the machine to handle 3 accounts right now. Thanks in advance for any help and or suggestions, I can't wait to get home and try this out!

A: You get NO group bonus for 2 group members. Group Bonus comes into affect starting with 3 characters in the party.

Opinion: I would say that it would be very difficult for a seasoned Multiboxer to run that setup. As most of us know, running 2 melee can be very encumbersome and require alot of extra movements. Although not impossible, just difficult. So for a noobie boxer I can't recomend that setup but I'm not the one playing it so go for it if YOU think you can handle it.

Opinion: I always start Multiboxing in Party from level 1. Gives you more time to get used to the group, how they synergize, and it gives you time to get used to macro layouts and time to tweak anything.

Thank you for the very quick reply! I actually got to thinking about it more and realized why two melee would be such a problem. I do like a challenge but I don't think I want to tackle 2 melee as my first attempt, it may drastically change my success and outlook on multi-boxing.

I believe I'm going with the 1 Paladin 2 Shaman setup for now. ;)

Can't wait to get home and fire it up!

I would box how many functions you want to do. You can box 2 if you want. I would NOT worry about the extra exp from having more than 2. The extra drops you have to get for that extra char(s) isn't worth it. I would focus on functions. If you just want a healer, add 1. If you want to kill faster, add healer and DPS. If you want a tank, add healer, tank and DPS. Etc. I wanted to do instances, so I have 5. Just do what fits with you, you don't have to do what everyone else is doing.

I leveled up from lvl 1 on 2 groups. And added 1 from lvl 1 to 40-45 to get close enough for all 5 to go together. I just put the new guy on his own and had a healer and lock follow him around. The alts didn't help at all, so he got all the exp, but they stopped runners (lock), lowered damage done (curse of hex--priest) and healed.

Most boxers would not recommend melee. WAY too many ways to get "Not facing correct direction". Most of what I want is uncontrolled help. I don't like to have to mash buttons to do stuff. Also, you might have to time things to work together. What if you only mash your attack button 2 times, did the rogue do a lot for those 2 times? Does he have enough energy if you mash it fast? What about his finishers, do you put those at 3 presses or 5? I don't mind different setups, but rogues have a lot of work to really help more than a warrior, shammy or pally using auto-attack.

Just my ideas. You can do whatever you want.

Edit (PS. I use melee on my 5 shammies. But I pull with my alts in back and the mob stand near my main and everyone can hit the mob. I haven't had a problem except when the mob tries to run, most times he gets out of melee, so I just 5 frostshock him and he dies. You don't have to be scared of melee if the mobs stand still, but moving melee that really sucks.)
