Hi all,
I've been trough Azeroth and Kalimdor and of course Outland to desecrates the Horde bonfire... I've started these at 20 % of my lvl63... I just hit 64 because of the 10400 XP granted by bonfire ....
There's 32 Alliance bonfire granting 5500 XP and 1.5 Gold and 30 Horde bonfire granting 10400 XP each and 2.90 Gold... I've also done the stealing flame quests on the opposite faction cities rewarding 7800 xp + a 7800 xp on the final stealing series..
Finding a bonfire of the opposite faction and using (stamping upon) it will reward 10 Burning Blossom and 11http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/1/10/Gold.png ('http://www.wowwiki.com/G') 99http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/0/0b/Silver.png ('http://www.wowwiki.com/S') at level 70. As there are 32 Alliance Fires and 30 Horde Fires, you can get as Alliance 550http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/1/10/Gold.png ('http://www.wowwiki.com/G') 10http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/0/0b/Silver.png ('http://www.wowwiki.com/S') and 460 Blossoms, and as Horde 562http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/1/10/Gold.png ('http://www.wowwiki.com/G') 18http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/0/0b/Silver.png ('http://www.wowwiki.com/S') and 470 Blossoms, not counting quests or capital bonfires
anyway .. this took me almost 3h to go through all bonfires.. but that worth it
more info on the wowwiki page here : http://www.wowwiki.com/Midsummer_Fire_Festival
I don't know the amount of XP granted at lower levels, but doing some travelling could be good for your lowbies :)
Wow so far I've just been ignoring them, guess I'll have to check them out now (and buy epic land mounts -.-)
So far, on my three shamans, I have made a ridiculous amount of gold, and I have over 500 blossoms on each. I just finished stealing the fires for the helm. And hopefully I'll be able to get enough blossoms to buy the rest of the outfit. To give me something fancy to wear while I'm spending my time just sitting around Shatt or Ironforge.

yes, double the xp for Honoring your factions fire. at lvl 36 it was 1800ish for honor, 3600ish for pissing on the opposite fire.
Gah! Why do horde get more gold than alliance?
I'm planning to do all of these on my (non-multiboxing) level 70s, 3.3k gold will be a nice bonus towards another epic flyer.

I failMake your camera face the ground and follow the shadow of your torch. That works for me. It works better when there aren't many ppl around that clutter your view of course.
You might want to try the Undercity for a less crowded space (but there the shadow is less visible because of the dark soil).

I love this event, I went and did every fire/honor quest except the alliance capitals and I've gotten almost 2 levels of xp along with fair amount of gold and 225+ blossoms. In my 40s I was getting about 2k xp and 5 blossoms for horde and 5k xp and 10 blossoms for alliance fires! Very good time to level indeed. :D I got my shamans the shoulders and chest(200 blossoms), looks pretty sweet.

I've been using the xp buffs from the streamer pole and the tower buff to run mana tombs over and over and over. 15% more xp from kills is pretty sweet when instancing. It was my first time running mana tombs @ 66 and I lost the pole buff the first two runs. I think I have the bosses down now and have no reason to wipe.

I fail I had the same problem as well till I learned a neat trick. Make sure your video settings is set to high on spell detail. When you toss the torch up in the air, do not look up, but look down instead because you will be able to see the shadow of the torch moving away from the bonfire. Made judging where it would land and my juggling life so much easier. Hope that helps you out in your endeavors.
I spent 3 hours yesterday visiting every bonfire on Kalimdor... would've been faster but I was missing half the flightpaths because i did so much instance grinding to level. I'm going to finish up the rest on the weekend.
Looking forward to being able to pop a brazier on each shaman, pop fire elementals and /dance.

Necro bump for 09' Midsummer fun!
I didn't start playing WoW until last Fall, so this is my first time for this one. With RaF XP, it's great!
The two things I've sussed out that make the torch juggling dailies easier are:
1. speed buffs - class (aspect of the cheetah, ghost wolf, travel/cat forms) or potion, they're both a big help
2. turn with your mouse! - I had a hard time getting to the torches in time until I started doing this. Once I did, though, it was a snap.
I'd like to see more courtesy on my PvE server (Saurfang). I know it goes against the nature of the game and the reason we have 2 factions, but both side are trying to do the same thing, and it doesn't hurt anybody to just let somebody else pop in and get the fires.

For the juggling daily (10 tosses) I got 7050xp at level 30 with my druids. I've not tried it with my hunter/mage team (level 51), though I just realized I can use Aspect of the Pack to give them the speed boost. I'll post what they get after I've done it on them.
EDIT: I just did this on my 51 Hunter. For the starting juggle and toss quests (that you have to do to unlock the dailies) I got 21,150xp each. For the daily juggle and toss I got 22,050xp each. That's 86,400xp for less than 5 minutes of work. I only need 131,500 to get to level 52, so I'd say that if you're still on RaF time, you're mad not to try and master these two quests.
EDIT 2: Honor/desecrate those flames! With RaF my team (now at 52) is getting 10,950 xp to honor and 22,050 xp to desecrate. I've already gotten one free level out of this stuff and I've barely gotten started! :)

Just because I saw an a post earlier in this thread about the xps/gold discrepency and I didn't notice any correction to it, I just wanted to clarify.
The rewards for honoring your faction's fires and for desecrating the opposing faction's fire actually scale with your level, as do the rewards for the dailies. So, for example, doing the fire tossing and fire catching dailies in the major cities each day nets you about 10% of a level, regardless of what level you are. Doing them every day for the 14 days of the event will get you about 1.4 levels just spending about 5 minutes a day on those two dailies.
If you are still in the process of leveling, I highly recommend at least logging in to do these each day even if you don't have time to do any other questing. Besides, they are just plain fun to do (at least I think so).
Sidetrack....
I was cycling through all my toons doing the dailies last night when I saw someone get "XXXXX has earned the achievement [Level 20]!", followed very shortly after by "Goddamn it!!". That was an absolutely classic moment, and I still laugh thinking about it, especially given the optional ability to disable xps coming in the next patch. :P

Woohoo! One of my druids is getting his epic flyer off this. I wasn't even planning to do it but was bored and looking for flagged Alliance on my safe little PvE server, when I figured, what the hell, I'm running around anyway, might as well get the achievement. It didn't even occur to me that every bonfire was the cash equivalent of an Icecrown daily. Awesome event!

I really need to do all these quests on my toons that have mounts. I can probabably ding a level or two at least on my warlocks.
I did a few of them in passing last night (Doused Loch Modan's flame, Honored a lot of the Horde ones), but didn't really go out of my way.

Just hit Flame Keeper x5 in a day.
Made at least 1,000 gold on each character.
Totally worth it imo.
Your faction bonfires will give 6g, enemy faction bonfires give 13g.
If you're still leveling, you can expect to get at least 2 levels out of it, possibly 3. And that's just from doing your own side's fires. My hunter/mage have just one fire left to go in Kalimdor and have already finished Eastern Kingdoms. And they've only hit 3 Horde fires (the Vale, Winterspring and Gadgetzan are too easy not to hit). I'll be hitting all the old-word fires again with my DK and other mage once they're closer in levels and can get the RaF bonus. (My lvl 30 Druid twins will be doing some also, but I'm not sure how much they'll be able to manage on their own.)
Worth noting - Druids can honor/desecrate flames while in Flight Form! Very handy for those Outland fires.

Reruns after maintenance for even more xp/money?
We are in the process of applying an in-game fix that will restart all of the quests associated with the Midsummer Fire Festival event and allow players to complete them once again. If you are in the process of completing an achievement such as Extinguishing Kalimdor, this fix will reset your progress and you will need start over. This fix will require realms to be restarted.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
My hunter/mage team just finished EK last night and Kalimdor this morning. They're both still at 55 and change on xp. This reset would've gotten them to 58.
;(
On a happier note, the Zoram Strand quest got them 60k xp each, so it's not like they're not getting any more xp out of this event, what with the rest of that questline and the dailies.
mm wonder what kind of xp they give for a lvl 73/75 char, anybody found out? does it give full lvl at that lvl range?

I did all the fires and the Capt. Citys. This reset is allowing me to do all the fires again. Yay. more money more xp. (More currency for
Brazier of Dancing Flames ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34686') and Captured Flame (pet) ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23083') )
Anyone know if the Capt. City fires reset too? I'd hate to corpse leap to get to one and it not be reset.
also I have Ahune <frost lord> on farm and hoping for the pet to drop. wish me luck.

Depending on who's math you trust, you cannot get enough flowers for all of the rewards.
If you are an achievement (Violet Proto) whore, make sure to get the clothes and juggling torches. Once these are done, I pray to be able to get the vendor pet, but just don't know if that will be possible.
I already got 1 Scorchling from Ahune, going back to farm status his ass.
Nice and grats on the pet. I so hope to get one.
Also farm a few fires on an alt. buy a few Juggling Torch ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34599') and TRADE THEM to your main team for the Torch Juggler ('http://www.wowhead.com/?achievement=272')Achievement.

I took the pally from 33% into 71, to mid 72nd on the Kalimdor, E.Kingdoms and Outland fires.
The shammies were mid 72nd and are mid 73rd; only the pally has the 10% exp shoulders.
About a level on each, and 200g or so.
Did the fires on two of my 80's, running around with a few upper 70's.
Just started them in keyclone, auto follow, no macro's really...
Got seriously raped a few times with just moving the mouse between windows.
Still a lot of gold and worth it.
Recently went back to the shammy/pally team, and a full level plus.. from an event..
It's a very nice bonus from Blizz after all the damn collections in Wrath.

With my mage, I did all the achievements last year except killing Ahune. Honoring/desecrating all the fires, doing the dailies every day, and capturing all the major city flames got me enough blossoms to buy all the clothes and only one of the 350 blossom items (I picked the dancing flames over the summer spirit companion). The only change I see this year over last year is about 3 new fires in eastern kingdoms and the dailies are the same, so the number of blossoms is only about 20 higher than last year. I would agree that you can't buy everything in one year, but keep in mind that you can't get everything for a lot of other events in one year either.
Getting all the clothes should definitely be the priority if you want the pole dancing achievement. The dancing flames and summer spirit are just for fun (or pet collecting achievements).

Thanks for the tip that juggling torches are trade able.
I am within striking distance of 50 pets, so that is my second priority (after the meta) but I'm also a collector (go figure) and want that brazier TOO.
Tips on Ahune: don't get within melee range, stand stacked up, and walk backwards for each spike (I have S bound to walk back on all toons), just try to stay alive for phase 1, then bloodlust on phase 2 and burn down the crystal. This way, I can solo/3man heroic Ahune.
I haven't had time to go look, but read there were bonfires in Northrend too. Can anyone confirm?

Do the slavepen boss drop anything or is it just for the achivment?
Anyone that knows how much gold it would be for a level 80 to dozen all the flames?
Taliesin
06-23-2009, 06:03 PM
Northrend does have fires for more xps/gold. These simply don't have any achievement related to them and are just for your own benefit.
I don't have an exact number, but doing all the fires in the world should net somewhere around 700-800g for a level 80. It will take about 5 hours to do it all in one run, so you can compare that against your typical daily runs if you're at all concerned about efficiency and don't care for the event achievements. (EDIT: I should state that 5 hours is assuming you have the epic flyer)
Ahune is just for the achievement and drops (companion and scythe drops are the major ones, EDIT: and the enchant drop). He doesn't drop blossoms, if that's what you meant.
Important note about the reset mentioned earlier!
Even if you have the achievement or have done some of the fires, you can still hit them again! 8o
I was just hunting up a few more flames to extinguish when I saw a ! over a flame keeper's head. Rode over to check it out, even though I'd previously hit that flame and was able to honor it again. Mind you, this is on a pair of toons that have the full EK and Kalimdor "honoring" achievements.

One less positive thing about the reset is that I had done 2/4 (UC, Silvermoon) of the flame stealing; then completed the other 2 (Org,TB) and didn't get the thief quest :-( I assume it's because I lost my first 2 in between... I'll try again tonight to see if indeed I can get UC again but it ends up as several trips from the GY so it's a pain to have to redo those...
With the capital cities you receive a quest-starting item from each one. Check your bags, maybe?

My druids have gotten almost a level (78-79) out of the event so far, and my locks have just gotten rich. I'm pretty pleased with it. Except ...
The festival is compelling me to PvP a lot more, mostly because I'm almost always flagged so I might as well attack flagged Alliance I run across. In almost every case where I don't manage to get off the first shot, though, I'm being pummeled. There's a single druid whose been kicking my five druids' asses across the face of the world. I think we're following the same bonfire route. There's also an Arms warrior I keep running into who reminds me why Bladestorm is at the bottom of the tree. I'm afraid I'm giving these guys an almost undeserved amount of joy! I can just imagine them patting themselves on the back, "yeah! Killed all five of them! Hah! I rock!" ... "NO!!!", I want to say, "I'm a carebear multiboxer! Not only do I suck at PvP, but four of me are arthritic retards who REALLY suck at PvP! You're burning ants here!" ... Sigh. :)
So at the moment I'm stuck in Stormwind, rather far from the bonfire, and logged out for the night as five lonely tauren ghosts.
Malekyth, do you have any ally toons? Before I sent my lvl 70 Druid into SW or IF I had my Draenei Hunter ride ahead and ask the locals not to help the guards. Most of them gave me a free pass, which definitely helped me get the flames. I did the same thing in IF after getting there on the tram and it paid off. (I'd already gotten Darnassus and Exodar, the latter of which I thought was the hardest of all 4.)
Granted, my hunter was in his 50s, so that may have helped. I can't imagine a level 1 ally toon asking for the locals to lay off a hordie would've carried much weight.

I have the advantage of sneaking my druid in first to scout the run before I decide the best time to charge the rest in. Silvermoon is one of the longest runs, but that city is absolutely devoid of player life (I saw one level 40 the whole way in during primetime). TB is fairly open and easy to avoid most of the guards by staying near the edge of the spires (enter from the NE elevator for maximum stealth), besides the fact that the fire is in a relatively unpopulated spire and isn't swarming with many players. UC is possible to run in and get the fire, then spawn OUTSIDE the city wall if you happen to get ganked, but tends to be a little busy with people. Org is by far the hardest to run for alliance, and is best attempted from the back door where you can avoid agg most of the way to the fire after getting past the bridge guards. You probably won't even be seen by players until you approach the bridge to the wyvern rider tower.
SW is always going to be difficult due to all the guards around the Stockades as well as just generally being in a very busy and cramped spot, but don't discount running into the Stockades and hiding there for a little while until everyone gets bored camping you (go eat dinner or something while AFKing), then simply running out the west door right next to the fire and catching people by surprise. Run toons out one at a time if you want then just corpse-hop back into stockades again. IF isn't exactly in a bad spot (fairly open area), but what sucks is the greater chance of being seen on the way in no matter which route you take (front door or tram from SW) as well as being rather busy with people. Darnassus is pretty easy, though ironically its one of the little fires that is the pain since you have to go completely from one end of Darnassus to the other just to get to the noob zone. Exodar is a fairly long run, but at least it is fairly unpopulated like Silvermoon; consider it just bad luck if you even encounter an 80 there.

I tried him last night with my 70 feral druid and a friend on his 80 warrior. We got toasted both tries, even with me wearing my resto set and healing him. We're getting more high level guildies for the next attempts.

I don't care for most ally players on my server (Saurfang - US Oceanic), but there are a few good ones. I like the lore that comes with the Draenei zones, and the tigers are the coolest stock mounts in the game - so now I have a 3 Draenei (57, 56, 60) and 3 Night Elves (59, 31, 31). My Draenei hunter has the Ambassador title and rides a tiger. Once I get the second mage to 60, they'll both start grinding Darnassus rep and getting tigers of their own. :)

I've had mixed results with the reset. Near as I can tell, they just made all of the fires "hittable" again. My hunter/mage who had done all of Kalimdor and EK didn't lose any of their achievements, and their lists for both continents stayed green. However, they're both able to go back and hit every single fire again! :)
My Druid, who'd gotten all of the capital city fires prior to the reset (and turned them in and gotten the achievement/xp/crown), was able to "turn in" the quest again and get a second crown, but not any more xp, blossoms or gold. Odd.

So is Ahune harder this year? Or can my hunters+priest handle him when they hit 70?
The answer to the first question is "No". He is still the same level, same damage, same tricks. I haven't noticed any changes over last year.
The second question all depends on how well you can play them. If you can tear down the elite that spawns right away (have at least one tank pet) and after each phase shift back to Ahune's normal form, it may be possible if you just keep running around in circles with pets on defensive and round-robin snake traps every few seconds or something to kill the non-elite adds while keeping Renews running on anyone taking damage. Just fight Ahune when he is fully melted to his core and the adds stop appearing. Will likely take you at least two full cycles to beat him (if not 3), given DPS you are likely doing at 70.
Moorea

I made the mistake to think because I was 80 I could just jump in summon without clearing anything and kill Ahune... well I wiped ... Then I read a bit and cleared the trash around spawn area and - most importantly - dropped frost resistance totem - which does make the fight trivial (you can then ignore the spikes; they just make you jump with no/minor dmg; while without it kills you fairly quickly) - also good to know that there is almost no point dps'ing him but instead need to wait for "frozen core" to show up in later phase - so your goal in first phase is just to kill adds and stay alive
If you don't have any frost resistance then it's probably tough and you need to move, which depending on your team makeup may be painful

Did this for a few hours yesterday... /sigh I saw I was missing a few FP's but not I got most still do not have Silithus on some of my slaves not sure why... oh yeah cause that zone sucks! Anyways I started out Monday... /sigh low and behold they reset Tuesday, the good thing is that the achievement itself did not reset just the flower gathering which for those that did it all Sunday/Monday bastards will be getting twice as many flowers which means both pets plus the gear they need for the achievement. Guess I should of done it all Sunday/Monday but have not gotten on much last few months. I even started a 4 box team on horde server 2 shaman 2 druids lets see how that goes there only 7 now, will probably level them some my friend has a warrior that will tank for the group, his already lv 16.

Gotta love the boxer haters that get on their gigantic war mammoth and try to block the shadow of your torch for the daily torch juggle. What an asshat. I still managed to do it dropping the torch on only one guy. Yes he/she did it to every one of my guys, lol.
Some might want to see this post/ thread I started. Under "PvE - Instances and Advanced Tactics"
Ahune on farm (normal mode) ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=22874')
I do 10-15 summons a day and on the 4th day I got the pet. yay!
