Hello everyone, been a frequent visitor here but havent been logged in alot.

Anyways, sunday 22/6 is the big day. gonna start setting up and making my setup to work in the weeks to come.

But to make it go as smooth as possible and draw as much use as possible of all the imba people who got the answers in their backbone i thought i would show you what i got in mind for my setup.

(some parts changed)

This is my rig for now, got myself two steady comps running win xp prof.

My thoughts so far is running keyclone from pc1 to pc2 controlling the 4 accounts (4 shamans) on that computer and steering it from comp1 (1 pala) with the programmable g15 v2 keyboard.

My concerns so far is, will the computers be adequate enough to coope with the strain of running 4 wows at the same time? i belive the size of the tv will allow me to run the screens in 800x600 mode with decent details.

Controlling this setup would be done with keyclone and maximizer? is there any better way that people would recommend? mind i am fresh out of the gate, not in the game but with multiboxing.

g15 programming, is it doable with this kind of keyboard or should it be done with another tool for easier doing?

Thanks in advance and let the massacre begin!

Hi,

I run a 1+4 setup like this, primarily because my main PC will always blue-screen if I run multiple WoWs on it.

Main PC is:
2.4GHz Intel dual core (Intel E6600) 4GB RAM WinXP Pro 8800GTS (640MB RAM)
Dell 24" (1920x1200)and my second PC is:
2.21GHz AMD dual core (AMD 4400+) 4GB RAM WinXP Pro 8600 GT (512MB RAM) Dell 24" (1920x1200)I use KeyClone and have recently, after reading a thread on these forums, added Kavoom VM (a software Keyboard-Mouse switch) to allow me to hide the second keyboard+mouse and just move the mouse right to the second PC... it's a fabulous bit of software and makes looting for those collection quests a piece of cake with our setup and you can cut'n'paste between PCs, which is great for setting up macros.
You can install it and try it for 30m before it stops running but you can fire it up again if you need more persuading... http://www.kavoom.biz/km/km_overview.html

Anyway, main PC runs WoW at full graphics settings, as that's the one I'm looking at and I want it to look nice :)

Second PC runs 4 WoWs in tiled formation, using Maximizer to set them to 958x581 resolution, so that they fit into the 1920x1200 screen and leave the task bar visible.
On the second PC, I've completely disabled sound for WoW and all graphics are set to minimum except the view distance.
I only have issues in the capital cities where I can hear the hard disk thrashing and 1 or 2 of the 4 will tend to lag out and get left behind if I'm not "walking".
btw, on the second PC I run all 4 clients from the same WoW directory, as that is much more efficient that 4 different directories.

Here's a snapshot of my setup, although it was from before I knew about Kavoom, hence the second keyboard and mouse to the right

The spec for your second PC is better than mine, so I would imagine you'll have no trouble running 4 WoWs... just drop the graphics settings if needed, as you won't be looking at that screen much.

If you don't know about it already, I'd advise Pitbull, a very configurable Unit Frames addon which will allow you to display everything you need to know about your 5 chars without getting tennis neck continually looking over at screen2.
http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/7738/
It does take a while to configure but is worth the effort.
I can monitor all chars life, mana, targets, pets, pet-targets, casting bars, buffs, debuffs etc.

And consider your macros carefully as you need macros that will cope with your main char dying and you grabbing the reins of control with 1 of the 4 chars on PC2.
I've achieved this with a /focus based set of macros, so if #1 dies I press a single F-key and #2/3/4/5 is the new leader and I can save the wipe :whistling:

Hope that helps :)

So, how did you get on?

Writing up my spec, I realised that I thought I had 4MB RAM in PC2 but actually only had 4 x 512MB sticks, which might explain the disk thrashing when I hit a capital city!
So, thanks to your thread, I've ordered 4 x 1GB sticks and might be slightly more lag free later this week :)

Isn't old DDR400 (PC3200) RAM expensive when compared to the much faster DDR2 RAM!!!

Could be a nice setup. the one issue I can see is that you will not get your 4 toons on the TV at 800x600 as even of you have a 1080p set the best resolution you will get is 1920x1080. normal 720p sets run at 1366x768 (or something similar)

960x540 should look good though or 864x540 if you want to keep a 1.6 aspect ratio for widescreen (some Ui's are quite funny unless you get the correct aspect)
