View Full Version : Pain Of Starting On New Server

Hello everyone,
Well the topic title might be a little odd but pretty well sums up everything. And that is starting a group on a new server. I have come to enjoy my current server Zangarmarsh, however, after rolling a single player on the Feathermoon server (I know some of you play on there haha.) And seeing my ping hover at basically 50, I was persuaded to roll on that server (Alliance btw). However the problem with that is I have no toons there with money, so that would mean no good bags for awhile, which I always like doing since its one of the most important parts. So my question is, how does everyone adjust to rolling on a new server, just power through it not worrying about bag space? Or do you just plain avoid it altogether.
Thanks for any input, have a great night.

Two friends and I rerolled on Destromath from Khadgar... It sucked.... soooo much.. having nothing... All I did was train enchanting for disenchants for all the blues I get that I don't need for my 5 man group, and tailoring.. When you run your own instances you get alot.. and I mean alot of cloth. Every SM Lib run I do, i get 30-50 silk.. So I just put up with low bag space.. and when I get my skill up I make new bags...

I am the worse at rerolling on new servers. It never fails I get tired of my current server and feel the need to roll different toons on different servers. Infact, at one point I could not make any more toons because I had reached the toon limit which I think is 50. Yet I never make it past level 30 on any of them and bam the pain of being without a support group (high level toons that can make bags etc ..) gets me and I am back on my old server with my old set of 70's.
So now I am trying something different this time. I have a lvl 70 protection spec pally and I am using that toon to level my 2 new shammies and a mage. I dont know why I had not thought to do that before, but I guess I just never really tried it. So anyway so far all my toons are level 32 with just over 1 day played. I hoping to add a 5th toon by the end of summer, and hopefully by that point my mage will be high enough that it can help power level my 5th toon with my pally.
So I guess to answer your question I really try alot to reroll on other servers but eventually it just gets to me and I am back on old one. My two bits on the subject, I hope it helps, or I hope you have better luck than me rerolling on new servers. Worse come to worse you could always transfer one of your 70's to a different server and that way you could have the 70 to support your newer toons.

easy -- but it does require some "RL Money"
On your established server -- create one toon, level him to 10 -- this is so dead easy nowadays.
THEN load him up with money and bags.
Pay for a character transfer.
Enjoy new server.

Create a new character a week or two before you want to really start and level him to 10. As soon as possible grab herbalism and get a few herbs. Sell them on the AH for some startup money, start buying and DEing greens and selling the mats. At lvl10 you can get up to 150 enchanting, which allows you to disenchant up to req lvl 45.
Use the addons Disenchantrix, Auctioneer, btmscanner. Using these and maybe 15-25 minutes a day, starting from 1g, I made 700g in a week or so. Just check up on auctions won/sold/items to DE 3 times a day... try to keep as little cash on hand-- cash on hand isn't making more gold for you.

When i start on a new server i sell the linnen cloth i get for some money and just starting playing with the cloth on the AH. Easy as hell and provides a steady income. Allthough if you follow Mendicant's suggestion you'll prolly get more money :P

Gathering professions are the way to go, and don't build your other professions at the start. Even if you live in instances, you should have built up a good base of money for bags before you hit that point. Admittedly, means you have to actually run to nodes to harvest them, which can slow you down as you're levelling up to the teens.
I restart quite often, as I have friends all over the place. Usually, by the time I even reach the auction house to be able to buy anything, I have a pretty good chunk of change.
But yeah, you feel it certainly.

For those that re-roll on Mag to join The Zerg - I usually hook them up with some startup gold & 16 slot bags (since I have a few 375 tailors).
Cheers,
