I'm about to shelf WoW... actually haven't played for a couple of weeks...
So, should I sell all my mats (mostly primals) or keep them until the expansion?

I'd sell them rather than bank em. Who knows what their use will be, if any, in WotLK. Take the money now, bank the gold, and rebuy them cheaper in the future if you need them.

Some of the mats might go up due to people powerleveling inscribing, along with whatever prof goes with Death Knights...
But at the same time... I have a lot of stuff...

I'd sell now. If you are shelving it, you will most likely miss out on when a particular item is "hot" and after the initial flux of new professions, it will taper off, and you could easily miss out on riding the wave. Sell now, maybe slowly to maximize profits, and bank the gold.
Too bad you don't earn "interest" in the bank, that might actually be an incentive for people to come back! Even if it was low, single digit % rates, and only gained a bit, it'd be enough to make me hord gold instead of items...

sell it, no telling what mats will be needed in wotlk.

I would NOT sell now unless you NEED the money.. if your not playing you will not need the money. I farmed all levels of ore before BC came out. I was selling copper ore for 5g a stack and had more than enough of every level to level my own JC to 300 the day it opened up. What i would do is wait for beta info to be sound.. like a month or two before release, so you see what trades are changing or what mats will be in demand. No reason to sell now.. they sell for way too cheap atm on most servers, compared to what they will sell for just before and right at release of WotLK. IMO!

Sell them. I've quit wow several times and I always sell off my crap. It helps clear my bank for when I come back and need new types. Also it can be tough to determine what mats will be worth something in the future. I'm glad I sold off all my gems back when they were worth something. And if you don't come back till wotlk then absolutely sell as they won't be worth crap then.

I'm selling them.. good thing the next season is right around the corner.
Personally I'd just bank em for now till there's alot more info out concerning wotlk. Proably till at least beta has been out for a month.
I'd say sell them, S4 is this week and so a perfect time to get a good price for enchanting mats/primals. Before BC I horded a lot of my mats (enchanting and random crafting) and found that mostly they completely plummeted in price, or took a good 6 months to pick up to a decent sell value.
We can assume they will bring in a new load of mats for taking professions to the next level (450?) and whilst I probably will keep a lot of my mats to twink out my levelling gear that's because a) I don't really care about the gold, and b) I'm a natural horder - I find it very hard to sell anything (my druid has a load of silithus quests/hand-ins 'just in case').
That being said it might be worth waiting to see what inscriptions will need, but I'd imagine that most people going for that prof will also be looking at what it needs and starting to stock-pile early (and thinking about it I now have to find an alt to take this - grrrr).

I'd say bank almost all of them. Sell the primals and keep everything else.
Gold will decrease in value, inflation and new easier ways to earn gold.
Things get more expensive if people have more gold to spend. Then your mats are worth more, just make sure they are used to level professions. Cheers!
