Hi all, couple quick feedback type questions on something I've been tossing around lately. I'm trying to avoid sounding like I'm asking for a rate my group setup thread.
Currently I box a 70 Paladin, 70 Priest, 70 Warlock (destruction using fire with the mages' scorch bonus), and 2 63 Mages I'm trying to get caught up. I'm starting to feel the effects of the glass canon stuff already and I'm getting a little bit nervous. I think the synergy is great, and the damage is pretty nice. In their outland's starter gear the mages are putting out close to just over 200dps each from what I can track in omen. I'm sure this could be better, but I'm still working out the proper rotations for their arcane / fire spec. Mobs fall, albeit slower than I imagined and the dual sheeps are awesome. However, they are so fragile its getting frustrating dealing with bosses that have any sort of AoE or situational awareness gimmick, because the 2 mages go down like flies and half my dps vanishes. Before you mention it, I realize I'm doing dungeons setup for characters leveled alot higher than they are, but I feel the effects in Ramparts as well most especially the final boss. At any rate, so far we have managed full clears of Ramparts, Shadow Labs, most of Slave Pens (did not try Quag because I ran out of time), and have taken down Pandemonious once. All of these are non-heroic accomplishments and most of the credit going to my 70 trio.
I've recently been toying with the idea of just going back to the drawing board all together, and as hard as it would be to see, dropping everyone but the paladin to follow the gospel around here and roll up 4 shaman. The problem is I'm not all that familiar with what shaman bring to the table. Looking at their spells it looks like their buffs are nice and all but not knowing what stacks and what doesn't it's a bit confuddling. I guess what I'm looking for realistically are what kinds of things I would gain, aside from the obvious management perspective, from doing this? Would I see any pitfalls or gaps? Am I just doing something horribly wrong that I need to look harder at how my current team is operating to make it work better? In other words, what could I do better as the new group, or what could my current group do that a new group could not? If currently my hybrid group is close to pushing 1k dps, what might I experience in similar terms of damage with a 1 paladin + 4 shaman setup; ballpark figure? Please keep in mind my ultimate goal is just heroic farming; I could care less about pvp. I'd much rather play chess than dodge ball. ;)
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
