Ahune, the Frost Lord
One of the main additions to the Fire Festival this year is a new summonable boss. Level 70 players can undertake this questline that takes you to the Slave Pens to seek and defeat Ahune, the Frost Lord. Ahune is a special summonable boss, similar to the Headless Horseman, that is only available during the Fire Festival. Luma Cloudsister, located just inside the Slave Pens, directs your party to where you can find and defeat Ahune - and loot his special rewards. The loot in Heroic mode is more powerful than on normal mode and includes epic items.
Does anyone know if the pet has the same chance to drop on normal and heroic? I'm hoping to get a few for the shammy team ;-)

Also please post any strat info.. I will be trying this boss in both normal and heroic.. i hope i can go it in heroic !
Anyone 5 boxed this guy yet? I've made 3 attempts and lost 3 times.

I've successfully done it 4 times on normal mode so far, but with only using 4 out of my 5 shaman for each attempt. The 5th person was a Paladin healer that I run Arena with. I don't think I could pull it off on my own without having to spend a lot of time on macros and spec'in one of them Resto.
The big issues and how i dealt with it are:
Knockback - Getting launched into the water, behind an obstacle like the ice blocks, or out of /follow range was by far the most difficult part of this fight for us. Spread out macros are a must here to ensure your entire group isn't getting ice spiked at once. I ended up positioning myself to the left of Ahune with my back against the short wall. This wall does not prevent you from being knocked back, but it sure helps by giving you a safer place to fly back on. I didn't see any mob follow them up there nor have any issues with evade, could have just been lucky. I would continue repositioning myself in that area as the fight went on, which allowed me to be in range of the frozen core when the first phase was up.
DPS - Assisting my main was not effective for burning down the weak little adds. Chain Lightning was great when a lot of them were up, but timing issues would cause several CLs to not go off since the target would die with the first hit if it crit. I ended up creating targeting macros for each character so they could shock / CL things down independently of my main. Lots of shocking is tough on the mana pool though, and I always had to quaff a pot at the end of the 2nd phase 1. I also was trying stoneclaw and magma totem combinations with some success, as well as the paladin dropping consecrate on the 2nd phase 1 because of the extra cyclone adds. The good thing though is that the shaman burst shines on the Frozen Core phase, I can get him down to 30-35% on the first one.

The only thing i could add or change to that for me was that the big elite wasn't so bad when being burnt down by 4 well geared shammies. The stacking AOE ability never got to the point where it was hurting. I did use 2 Earth Elementals on each Phase 1 and dropped Fire Eles if I felt like I was getting overwhelmed for a burst of AE (Effective but the eles die quickly).
I'll give heroic a shot tomorrow.

I have tryed it a few time today and i coundt seem to figure out a way to overcome the knowback, It was so anoying that i gave up.. i will try it on my main now with a Pug just to learn the fight a bit more and i think that would be a smart idea for most of us or.. as the guy above said, bring in another friend for it.. As soloing it with a 5man boxing group is not something done easily without some practicing,. uneless someone comes up with a really clever way to do this.

Tried it three times on Heroic (haven't done it on normal). Wiped first two times before the end of phase one. Wiped quickly when phase one began for the 2nd time on the third try.
Only reason I'm trying is b/c he'd be another badge. If that's your reason, don't waste your time doing all the prereqs, not worth it imho.
I own the vast majority of heroic bosses out there. Ahune I got to 98% in my best try of three. There may be some trick to him, but it's late and I'd rather take my wife out to dinner than try and figure it out atm :P

Tried this for the first time tonite and barely got into phase 2 on my priest/locks team. Two of my voids were dead and the locks were nearly oom. If it wasn't for ice spikes it would be pretty easy. With a little practice I think its possible to have my scythes!

Managed to get this turkey cooked with 5 shamans after alot of !@#!$ ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forum/js/'mailto:!@#!!@#!!@#!$)... what I did... drop 5 earth elementals to help control the adds, burn down the big elite rock guy asap, and make sure you can move your whole group by strafing left and right quickly to avoid the ice spikes that will appear below you before you get tossed into the air. Just keep fighting the adds until he goes underground, at which point you can unload on him. The key seems to be making sure to move away from the spikes.

I cannot beat this guy on normal with pally tank 3 shaman and a mage group. Too much movement is required along with all the damn adds. If someone has any tips let me know. Trying to strafe out of the ice shards is impossible for me.

I tried this guy out today, pretty fun. Haven't touched the Heoric side though.
On the opener, use the spread out macro and DPS the big Elite down really hard. Once he's down have your characters follow you and just keep running in a circle, dropping Fire Nova totems down when they come up. The mini adds don't do much damage and you can easily throw in heals once a spike pops up.
Once the boss pops drop Fire Ele's, bloodlust and go to town, you can definitely drop the boss in 1 round if your DPS is high enough :) If not rinse/repeat.

In Heroic, all you need to do is summon him by taking to the ice thingy.
In Normal, my 5 guys had a quest, and each can complete and summon. I think this is daily, but I did not play yesterday after my 7 attemps. 2 Heroic, and 5 normal--paid 12g for each :)
Repair after 2 wipes + 5 wipes was about one IQD daily :)
So I'm just reading on strats and working towards group strafe nuke every lightning bold volley.
My problem was, I don't think I ever targetted the frozen core--so I was just killing 2 waves and running out of mana. :cursing:

Ten times? How did you try again after a wipe?
2 days + 5 characters = 10 attempts. On normal, win or lose, you can summon him once per character per day.
