I have been thinking about this... Would any of you be able to do "normal" play again? I am so used to 1 shotting mobs.. 2 shotting elites... I honestly don't think i could go back to single play now... anyone else had these thoughts?

BTW... this is my new sig on the wow forums...

Playing a single toon for me now would be like banging a fat chick after having a supermodel... i don't know how you guys do it...

Since I started my team on a different server than my 70's, I have to "solo" play when I help the family. But I don't think I will be continuing "solo" play for myself.

I would never level a new char solo, not after boxing. Its so much fun I just forget how boring leveling is ;)

Solo play leveling? Never again.

Solo play for end game instance, or 5 man heroics? Sure on my 70's.

I don't think I'll play any game solo again. :P

Since the replies seem to be from 5 boxers, here's my perspective. Yes, I solo-box all the time still. I guess the leveling benefit of dualboxing over single boxing isn't as significant as 5 over 1. I do boost and dual-box sometimes, but there are days it is just easier to solo-box. I guess I get lazy and some of my lower alts are not even set up for dual-boxing yet. Maybe someday when I'm doing more than dualboxing I'll change my mind, but for now, solo-boxing is something I still do.

I yet have not gotten higher than level 20 in my multiboxing trials, but I already would never go back to single boxing. I tried to play my old main, but I miss the four other windows right after logging in.

I am fairly certain that if multiboxing for some reason would be outlawed by Blizzard, I would quit playing :)

I'm with you on that one.

I've been playing single on Age of Conan for about a week, and it's a fun game that doesn't seem to lend itself to multiboxing at all as easily as WoW. Levels are gained a bit quicker, and grouping to grind xp is more popular due to the way XP works, so I'm happy playing solo on AoC. I used to dual-box Diablo2 way back in the day, but that was more 'boosting/muling' than boxing due to the lack of a /follow.

I don't think I could ever go back to only playing a single character. Every now and then I get on my 70 rogue for some PvP fun with friends, but I find the lack of multitasking involved with multiboxing to be boring now. Even when playing my rogue, I'm looking at my other blank monitor for some extra toons to increase dps and lay down some heals. About the worst part though is not having every profession, especially disenchanting, when I'm playing solo.

...or when crafting.... it's a pain to try to read such a small font in a very small window.

I get bored to death even when playing one character with a friend.

I don't even think I'll be able to solo play an mmo ever again. However, I will solo play to learn the game. Then once I felt I have learned the game enough then I'll start multiboxing it right away. Which will probably happen with Warhammer.

...or when crafting.... it's a pain to try to read such a small font in a very small window. Not me, I multi-box crafting and us PiP to swap out and start other toons with combines..probably why my toons are only level 24.... :whistling:

I'm probably going to carebear boost my DK up to 80 when wotlk comes out but then after that I'm definetly going back to mb'ing. I enjoy doing quests, especially ones I haven't done 20 times, solo. Doing quests as a multi-boxer can sometimes be more of a p.i.t.a. then it's worth.

I really enjoy raiding as a solo player. It's a nice relaxing break from multitasking, even if I'm doing a "complicated" role...

Since I have a life outside of WoW, I don't much care about guild socialization for things like raids, etc. That being said, solo play is pretty much teh same experience you can get out of any number of FPS's or RPG's out there, so what would be the point of playing an MMO solo? Furthermore, I just can't see any challenge in playing solo chars in MMOs any more after having multiboxed. All my future MMO decisions will probably be predicated upon how well they multibox. :D

Maybe we all need to band togeter and make a NEW game that forces you to multi-box!!!! :P

Yesterday I logged into my BT-geared mage to do some dailies for a change from the non-stop 5-boxing I've been doing the past few weeks. I'm doing SS dailies and thinking, wtf, why does it take so long to kill things? I mean, 3 frostbolts if nothing crits, that's over 7s per kill! If I get a resist then it'll take even longer -- lame.

I could still do 10mans or 25mans with just 1, because it's more about the people then

I'd never level a solo toon any more, and probably not duos. Heck, when my tank for my 5 man group got behind due to boosting, I used him to boost 3 warlocks and another paladin, to boost my tank... I know, confusing. But i've become such an altaholic, I'm already planning boosting at least 4-5 more configurations of alts (4x mages, 5x hunters, 5x shaman, 3x paladin, 3x rogue, 3x druid, etc etc) Right now my main goal is to boost my tertiary paladin to use him to boost my secondary paladin. After I finally got my first 70, I was like "I wonder what x class is like" but I just couldn't bring myself to level anything past 12. The thought of doing it all over again kept me from actually doing it. Playing 5 adds a challenge, some excitement, and such utility, that it makes the leveling part actually fun, even multiple times (I must have ran deadmines like 4 times with my group, and like 40 times with my 70 as a booster) and only after the 30th odd run did I get bored, then I moved to SFK :) Solo is definately the new gimp.

Solo play at 70? Maybe when I want to "think small" I did a bit of kara with a random pug, (just did trash, as 3 people never showed up, and people were leaving faster than replacements were arriving, oh how I wished I had 4 more 70s to fill in the blanks...) and I was bored to tears. It was a huge load off though, and I was able to surf the web much easier than when doing 5. When I don't want to do 5, I will probably 2-3-4 box different combos to level them up, etc.

If a druggie has been addicted too crack for a few years, and tries some 5x consintrated stuff, you think he will want too go back...

I still solo play quite often (by which I mean a minority of my team, but often once or twice in a week). Really depends on the class, though, some are fun to play solo as there's a lot of complexity to playing them really well -- lots of tricks that are hard to exploit in multiboxing. Other classes make me want to poke my eyes out.

Yes, Multiboxing is just a 'hobby inside a hobby'. Arena is the only thing that interests me solo mind you - although I don't mind healing a group, 5 mans and such. (Multi box raiding amirite? imrite)

SOLO IS THE NEW GIMP! :P

The only time I would solo would be to play a class that doesn't multibox well...like a rogue for example.

Cheers,

Yes.

I play solo characters several times a week for raiding / non-attention-grabbing relaxation.

I'm in a really small guild consisting of just real-life friends and so I do sit down and do an instance/bit of questing one night a week with them, apart from that though I really can't see the point of going back to soloing.

I'm 4-boxing since March and I don't think I'll ever level a solo character again.
I do play my main 70 rogue solo to get some money and stuff for bags or other crafts, but only rarely.

I only solo box some pvp events WSG, and def on AV. Only do this with hunter, and shammy (dual weild).

I dont like to mutl box wsg at 70 too hard with pug to win. Now if I a had another 5 boxer to run flag and one for def. what a team

LOL

I can't...

Here's my history.

Leveled hunter to 70.
Leveled rogue to 63/64
Started multi-boxing
Leveled multi-boxing to 70
Grinded rep and all that with my multi-boxing team until bored
Shelved all 5 accounts today
My poor rogue is still 63/64... I don't know which level because I haven't logged into that toon for a while

My prediction:
WotLK released
Activate all 5 accounts
Level multi-boxing team to 80
Play multi-boxing team
Shelf all 5 accounts

I think my hunter will forever be 70 and my rogue at 63/64. ;(

If you're asking would I ever quit multi-boxing and go back to solo play full time? HELL NO!!!

But I do still like to solo play every once in a while. Mostly when I raid.

The only time I would solo would be to play a class that doesn't multibox well...like a rogue for example. i know i'm the odd man out here, but i totally prefer solo rogue to multi boxing. i love MBing, but ugh... rogue is just so much fun i keep going back to it. i only three box, and sometimes dual box, and as i said i freakin love it - but i still enjoy playing solo and MB is more of my alternative play style than main play style.

it might be that i'm not hardcore enough to MB melee classes and prefer melee to casting. i can definatly say i would not solo level a caster but i find myself playing with new dual box configs rather than three boxing. also, i feel that soloing casters after leveling is alot different than playing them in a group so once you hit 70 and XP isn't an issue i find it fun to break the group apart and really get into the class. for example, you can't do certain things with a mage while grouped that you can do solo. my girl's main is a mage and no way could i maneuver around like her with two slaves.

well that's my take *ducks from incoming tomatoes (all 5 from each of ya)

Playing solo to me would be like signing up and paying to run a 5k. I can do it, but why when i can do so much more?
