Let me firstly post my setup

E6600 processor (2.4ghz Core2Duo)
7950GT graphicscard
2gb ram
xp 32bit
(super maching 15 monts ago when bought)

Boxing on 2 monitors. 3 dps shamans share a 19" screen using maximizer. The healer shaman and tankadin share a 22" screen without maximizer. All shamans are on a 15fps and the pally on 30fps

I have boxed quite a deal. Firstly with 3 firemages to test it. Then I decided to go all the way and roll 1 pally and 4 shamans.

While in Azheroth on foot or on slowpoke elephants I didnt really have much problems. Did loose one on follow once or twice when entering Stormwind or Ironforge. No big deal.

After I hit Outland and lvl 60 the problems started. I often lost 2-3 on follow in Hellfire and got huge lagspikes with the harddrive went bananas. Then I tried flying all to Shattrah... lol. DC/DC/DC/DC/lagspikes. Movement was totally impossible.

Then I thought this cant be and did a ctrl+alt+del and had the system monitor running to check and rightly so I was above the 2gb ram and the processors was at 88-91% most of the time. Today I got 2 extra gb ram and that really did the trick. I now use 85% processor and 2.7gb in Shattrah so all toons can move freely again and I dont loose any while mounted on 100% mounts with pally speed aura.

I am aware that XP 32 bit cant see all 4gb but it was almost as cheap to buy a kit as a single ram module. And with this I am ready should I upgrade to Vista.

So my advice to 1 PC boxers is check your usage at peek. More ram might solve it for you too.

Thanks for reading and stay excellent to each others and anyone you meet ingame or in reallife ^^

Same thing here, went from 2gig to 4gig and all my problems were solved.

Morale of the story... 5boxing on 1 PC? 4gig MINIMUM requirement.

I play 4 toons on 1 CPU. I could actually handle 5 easy as I have tried it. I also only use 1 monitor (22inch wide)

2.6GHz (C2D)
2G RAM
10000RPM Raptor HD
2xATI 1950XTX 256 in Crossfire setup

There are a lot of people that will probably go nuts when I say this but I tried Maximizer and I didnt like it at all. It was pretty annoying to have some of my screens so small I could hardly see anything. I prefer one screen where i can see really well.

I also found that if i used another monitor, it actually increased my system resources a lot. So I went back to just one monitor.

So pure and simple, I just leave everyone minimized minus the main one which is in windows mode. So far I havent had any issues with that at all. I mean sometimes i need to alt TAB to another window but its not a huge deal. This isnt going to eat a lot of resources. Now my CPU does pretty well but if you want to multi box and you dont think your cpu can handle it this is an option. I just did it because for me it works well and i am happy with it. But every window you have up at any pt is going to eat system resources.

I think if you want to multi box and you dont have a sicko CPU or the cash to buy 5 sicko cpus then this is a good option.

im actually 3 boxing this on my laptop : :D

i can do 4 but... i dont have a 4th account :P

Specs are : Interl Core 2 duo at 2.2GHz

Video card : Geforce8600m GS/256MB

Ram : 3GB :D

but i did notice that my CPU is constantly at 90%-95% and my memory usage with the 3 wow's running at 2GB-2.2GB after 3-4 hours of playing , is there anyway i could probably lower the cpu usage ? it does get pretty dam hot

Do not goto vista for gaming... its got HUGE overhead that will make you hate life...

i switched form 2 gig to 4 and it helped a TON... 32bit windows will still use 3.3 gig...

BTW... i put xp 64-bit on my macvhine to try it and my HD access times seem better.. less load times.. but might be in my head..
