So, I love the server I'm on Nathrezim, Specifically for the awesome AV premades we have. I have also developed a tiny reputation as doing well in the premades. I havent started multiboxing yet (still working on building my new PC), and I was really hoping to do it on Nathrezim to impress my friends, have fun, grow my epeen, and help out in the premades.

The problem I see, and please if you have any advice or ideas, is Nathrezim is a west coast server. I will be moving to Germany in a few months which would basically mean Iwould be playing when everyone else is sleeping.

Do you think I should move to an EU server? Anyone have experience playing on a US server while in europe? Is there a significant lag due to distance?

If you think I should move to an EU server any reccomendations on a cool server? I will have to make all new friends :(

Thoughts?

PS I PVP only, i am not a "raider". So any server reccomendations should be PVP servers. kthnx!

How long are you going to be there for?

How long are you going to be there for?

1-2 years is my estimate :)

Heared people do it, but if i am correct, its rarely a success. Besides the fact you are left with the at least 6 hour time difference.

i think the lag is bareable imho
something around the 300's or 400's

im portuguese and i was always used to play with pad pings so... :D thats why i say u can handle it with patience :P .
i played a lot americas army in the past, and in the early stage, there were only US servers, and i got used to it.

man, if u really have ppl u like to see, u should stick with ur server, but being west coast, is a pain in the ass.

I mean im not that attached to the people on my server.

I could start fresh on a new server, it sounds like that may be the best option if there is significant lag, and in combination wih the massive time difference.

That being said. Im not sure what server or how i would find a good EU server. Obviously the primary language would need to be english as an uber beginner in german.

Some things I would be looking for in a server are:

1. Language - English
2. Strong Horde Presence
3. Strong PVP (good premades)

Let me know if you have any advice. I may also repost this in the german forum as well. :)

Thanks!

I currently play on Bonechewer ( west coast server time) and live in Speicher Germany ) near Spangdahlem AFB. I get decent pings high 2-300's on most nights. i would love to switch to EU for raiding times etc but i am attached to the people in my guild as the core of them ive been stationed with for awhile. the pvp cue times are never horrible think the max ive seen is 6 minutes on non bonus weekends. Now i have been stalemated because of raiding times ( my guild raids evening time frame so for me thats 1-3 am start time) for all of Germany you will be server +8/9 depending on Dayligth savings. also i dont think you can direct transfer between US/EU so you would have to start over.

I also live in Germany and play on a US west coast server. My pings are between 200 and 500ms (it varies quite a bit from day to day). I haven't noticed a significant impact on play, but I've been here since I started playing the game, so your mileage may vary. Also, I'm not a PVP freak, and I can see how latency would have a far greater effect on PVP (especially Arena) than it does in most PVE encounters.

My advice would be to remain on your current server until you move to Europe, and see how much of an impact the increased latency has on your play style. If it's unbearable, then consider switching to an EU server. Bear in mind that you'll be dealing with folks for whom English is a second language (or they may not speak English at all). Not sure how much that will influence your decision, but my German is horrible, so I prefer to play on a US server. Also, that's how I keep in touch with a few of my friends in the States... chatting with my buddies in vent while running instances > long distance fees any day.

In eu there are french german spanish and english realms. The english realms are mostly english, ofc if you get a group of sweeds they will talk swedish, but mostly there are numerous english speaking guilds and english speaking people on the english realms.

Some great info just what i was looking for.

However i see a major, major issue: not being able to transfer to EU server?

That pretty much screws up all the work ive put in getting ready to multi-box. My paladin is 70 and almost fully ready to AOE grind like a madman. I just cant imagine redoing the whole thing. No way.

I suppose the compramise option is to move my character to an east coast server. At least that might mitigate some of the timezone difference and lag?
